  1. Congratulations on being on the banded side! It is exciting to think about our life changing for the better. I've already cleaned out my closets 4-5 times already. The whole experience is a learning experience. Good luck on your journey!
  2. I'd also suggest sleep sitting up some, until you see your Dr. Glad you called your Dr.
  3. I do that, but I've been known to spit it out too. And you're right, it happens when I'm over hungry. Never finished learning, huh?
  4. I'm presuming you've been banded for over a year. I would have no problem having a EGD, being a few years back, before any thought of lapbanding, I had silent reflux. No symptoms of acid reflux, but one day extreme pain. Turns out my esophagus was eroded to the point of pre cancer. I now have been taking Prilocex daily for years. So whether you have symptoms or not, what would it hurt?
  5. Missy is right, see your Dr. Untreated acid reflux can also lead to very serious problems with your esophagus.
  6. I'm much like Missy. When my calories were below 800, I would lose, but lose really slow. When I make sure to have at least 1000, the weight comes off much quicker. No matter how many calories, I do always get my 60 + grs of Protein daily and I make sure that every meal has protein in it and Snacks are full of protein also. I too, am not a nutritionist, but this is what works for me. Don't forget the minimum 64 oz of non caloric liquids too. That has a big affect on weight loss too.
  7. Congratulations to all who are being banded soon! New Dawn gave excellant advice and I couldn't have said it better. Nerves are also a part of surgery. We've all been there, done that. You all we do great. Mandymoo, sounds like you have your head in the game. Great job! Only thing to add to NewD, take Chapstick to surgery with you.lol
  8. LOL, I got the auto correct, but confused on the staples. Really don't know anyone who had staples. Congrats on moving up the wl ladder.
  9. I agree with Chez & Missy. I too, am waiting for both knee's to be replaced and I have not started exercising and still able to take weight off. You can do this!
  10. Yep, AJ has me hooked.
  11. Congratulations! It's amazing how many things that others take for granted and are a major yeah moment for us. Ppl think I'm crazy when I'm giddy being obese, until I explain I was morbidly obese and severely obese. lol Looking forward to "over weight".
  12. I started using MFP way before even considering lapband surgery and still use it today. It's a great way to keep track of not only calories, but protein, fat, sugar and water too. I feel its a must when you're first starting out.
  13. lol, " results not typical". Congratulations! I hope they ask you to speak at their seminars.
  14. Nope, just LBT.com, never heard of BariatricPal until now, lol. I consider LBT my family. Thank you Alex for another great newsletter!
  15. Looking back, it would have been , whats this "bandster hell" I keep hearing about? Thanks to my friends here at LBT, they clued me in. I was under the impression that the pouch was small, you can only physically eat a small amount, from the get go. NOT!
  16. I did have this also after my surgery. I chalked it up to swelling . Didn't last too long.
  17. Amen sista! Prayers for quick healing with that arm! Talk about seeking, I was just wondering where you were yesterday and was planning to write a note and check up on you. Glad you're back, miss you when you're not posting. Love & God Bless!
  18. I'm in Englewood, South Sarasota County. I have Sarasota Memorial Bariatric Center, Dr. Scott Stevens. I really like the whole team. They do everything to make sure you succeed.
  19. LOL. your new normal. In the past, not normal. Post-op normal and great you recognized it.Good job!
  20. Dr told me first 48hrs the worst and he was right. Every day after that gets better and better. Walk as much as possible, heating pad and pain meds. Warm decaf tea also helped me.
  21. I was banded 3 days after you and I'm just now at 5cc in my band, but like everyone has stated, that has nothing to do with anything.I just reached the green zone with the last fill 2wks ago. I keep my calorie intake close to 1000, Protein at every meal 60 grs total for the day and minimum of 64oz of Fluid a day. I'm not able to do much exercising, so that is not a factor in my weight loss. If you are following your diet plan and not losing, I would ask to speak with the Dr or Nut. and work out whats going on. Good luck
  22. Welcome to the forum! You've come to a great site for support, inspiration and knowledge about the Lapband. Everyone here has had different insurance requirements, so kinda hard to comment on what you have to do. I myself had to do a 6mth suoervised diet, so I had plenty of time to have all the other requirements completed. Good luck on your LB journey!
  23. I remember being pre op and having all the same thoughts as you. Can I do this, I've failed so many diets before, will I just fail this too, etc..... But WLS was my last hope. It was either try this or my life was over. Guess what??? It does work!!! Follow the rules and it will work for you too. Push the negative thoughts aside and say to yourself " what do I have to lose" Best of luck to you!
  24. Another great post ,Jean. Should be mandatory reading for all and especially pre op patients. Thank you!
  25. I can't comment on your situation b/c I have not experience it, but I did want to welcome you to the site. I was told by my bariatric team that more ppl succeed with this surgery when attending some kind of support group. So I'm glad you're here. I have lost 100 lbs twice pre banding and can't believe I had gained it all back and then some, so that part I do understand. Don't beat yourself up. The best part of being banded is you can start over. You know where you made your mistakes (sliders), so I'm sure you'll not do that so much. This whole WLS has a huge learning curve and supporting each other helps. So my suggestion would be to start all over like you just got your band, if your dealing with head hunger, come talk it out here or find a good therapist that can help you work that out. We're all in this together. We can do it!
