Hoping to be a lap band candidate soon
Yep, every ins. is different. In my case 6mths, which I was disappointed. In the long run, it was the best thing that ever happened. It gave me 6mths to prepare, by educating myself on what banding was all about. I thank my lucky stars for finding LBT.com, where I receive the best education available.

What Does "Morbid Obesity" Really Mean?
I know 40yrs ago I was of normal weight, my mil thought I should lose 5lbs,so I went on a diet and became overweight, another diet, then obese, another diet, severely obese, another diet, morbidly obese. I couldn't afford another diet. I needed a cure. LBS is not a cure, but it is a great tool to help me learn to treat my life with more respect and care. So yes, I was that snowball, but now the sun is shining and I'm melting.lol Now I'm obese, working on overweight.lol

What Does "Morbid Obesity" Really Mean?
I wish every Dr could have a copy of this and post it in their offices. It's a great eye opener! When I started my WLS I was morbidly obese. I knew that this surgery was either going to save me, or I was going to die early, never mind all the things I was missing out on. Thank you,Jean for your words of wisdom. I enjoy everything you write b/c of your humor, but I also enjoyed this article b/c its about saving lives. You rock!

No Pre op diet????
I did not have a pre-op diet either, but I do know my same Dr made some of his other patients do one. So with him , he changes from patient to patient. But like Missy says, follow your Drs guidelines. Whats good for one, is not always good for someone else.

Living with the band is like being in a marriage or relationship
Great blog, Cheryl! Totally true whether a relationship with someone or your band. My relationship with food pre banding was a controlling relationship. Glad I am in control now! Thanks for your words of wisdom!

Medication
I was told by surgeon that any the size of an aspirin would be ok. I do take chewable vitamens and calcium. Don't know what to say about heavy feeling in stomach. I only get that if I take 2 pills cut in quarters b/c it takes a lot of Water.

Medication
After 6wks pre-op was able to take my pills whole, one at a time. But since having enough fills to get me close to green zone, I'm now having to cut them up in quarters. Good news, I no longer have to take b/p medicine.

Lump
I've been on this board for just about a year and have never found 2muchfun to be rude. It is really hard to answer someones question, when there is no info at all. Are they banded,unbanded,pre-op or post-op????? And I know he would never call anyone "wacko", thats just not him.

Subtle Signs of Band Complications
The biggest lesson here is, always consult your Dr. None of us here are qualified to diagnose or treat any disorder whether LB related or not. Call your Dr when problems arise, thats what we pay them for.
