  1. More than 60 grams of protein daily.. check w/doc. I had closer to 90 grams and was not very hungry. You need protein! In my opinon it is a must have!
  2. Masingil (spelling) chaffing gel/powder comes in a tube, light not greasy... powder doesn't work for me, this stuff is great. A tiny bit goes a long way. They have scented and regular. My Mom still prefers the powders though... everyone is different. Good luck in finding what works for you.
  3. I get Atkins advantage pre-mix canned -chocolate delight @Sam's club 12 for $13.xxish. Convenient tasty, quick, easy, filling and low carb. Not too sweet, cheaper than most coffee/soft drinks too. On the go I can grab, drink, and trash the can. I can't even swallow slim-fast, too high in carbs and way to sweet for me. Good luck.
  4. I like.... to keep in mind low carb... Wendy's= small chili, or occasionally, baked potatoes w/chili or broc&cheese. McDonalds= fish filet no bun..nuggets aren't too bad, yogurt cup, Rib crib= 1/3 pound pulled pork or a sandwich no bun, green beans. Chinese= boiled shrimp with sweet/sour sauce, beef broc. etc.. Burger King = spicy chicken-no bun. Arby's= roast beef -no bun etc. Taco Bell= burrito supreme no lettuce, and I squeeze the stuff out while I drive... skip the tortilla, but need no fork. Mexican= enchilada-no tortilla/no salad.(I can't eat ice burg lettuce) I can find something almost anywhere... but need to alter it sometimes. If it ends up not being a "GOOD" choice, I do something better/healthier when I can get home etc.. like after a big mac no bun, I have meat and veggies at home. Good luck with finding what works for you!
  5. Not sure yet what needs to be done... my sister is a dental surgeon assistant. She took a peek, and so did her boss, he said no surgery now- so see regular DDS. I had an appointment scheduled a couple weeks ago, but issues with Mom at hospital caused cancellation. Now I am desperate, and in serious pain! I'll keep you posted. I'm hoping for an emergency appointment Monday.
  6. Liquids for 4 weeks-maybe.. it depends on your doc. They are all different. After surgery- due to swelling etc.. you may not even feel hungry for quite some time. We've all done it.. YOU CAN DO IT TOO. I lost 24 pounds on pre-op diet alone...2 weeks! That is sooooo worth it. It also depends on doc. if they will repair your hernia at the same time. Diabetic condition can still be controlled, with proper choices of liquids and nutritional balance. Good luck and great health to you.
  7. Princess- sounds fantastic so far... you can do it. After I get in to the Dentist -soon- we should grab a smoothie or some sushi... might depend on if before or after the 6th? I've never been to the Smoothie King have you? I would have to trust you on the Sushi places... lol. Keep us posted with how you are doing with the liquids... 7.5 pounds down!!!!!!! WOW!!!!! Great job so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I never get a fill on TOM.. (they will- I won't) the two fills I got on or near TOM... were great restriction... until TOM went away. I knew right away that I needed another fill. Inner swelling/bloating gives me a false sense of restriction. Band gets very loose right after- waste of time and money for me to get a fill on TOM. Everyone is different, but that's how mine goes. Good luck.
  9. SpringfieldMO... WELCOME.... what co-morbidities do you have? Hope they all go away with weight loss. Do you have a schedule for the day-class yet?
  10. Hi Debbie, I'll email you later... Do you like the sugar free jello&pudding. Trying something sweet, but without sugar could help ween you from it.? I really like the "dessert cups" from healthyweightsupermarket... I think 43 cal.. (always more protein than carbs) but they curb my dessert wants. Not sure if they are sugar free but at least better than some choices.? Thinking of you, p.s. if I can come up with something better I'll let you know.
  11. Woooohoooo! Awesome to hear all of these successes!
  12. With restriction, I am surprised that you can eat chicken at all. I could still eat chicken for months.. now never white meat. I did not have problem foods for a long time.. now I have several. Maybe things will settle down with a bit more weight coming off ? or go for a tiny unfill? Great luck and health to you. ((((hugs))))
  13. Hello everyone! Happy Feb. 2008(tomorrow)! Hey Debbie... Great to see ya' here and.. Welcome to this one! Princess just started her pre-op diet- and hollygurl is not yet scheduled- There are several others around too but, I have not had an update from others recently... As you know I am busy with Mom still being in the hospital... Medicated stent placement tomorrow a.m. Wish her luck - please.
  14. Are you eating new "problem" foods and not yet recognizing them? Do you notice any change with your cycle(if you have one)? These "problem" foods vary for everyone, and can come on with each fill, or from day to day these may change. One shred of iceburg lettuce.. and it's over for me. Cold shake in the a.m. and I won't eat till after noon. Cold tightens me right up... good luck with all the issues.
  15. You should be able to have these after surgery... but things may have changed... better to check, than be sorry. Are you using frozen fruit, thawed, canned, or fresh... In your "shake"? Sounds good to me I may try it. Have you found any pre-made shakes that you like ? Mine = Atkins choc. delight :frown: I wish I could say that the pre-op diet got easier for me week 2, but- I would be lying. Just think 2 weeks to better health! Keep posting, and we can help get you through this. ((((hugs)))))
  16. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Julie... depression is a struggle to deal with (((hugs))).
  17. Hollygurl... keep us updated, and let us know when you get your surgery date. Find some liquid Protein that you can tolerate/enjoy.. it will help when the time comes. AND... Princess is today , day 1 of pre-op diet? update please.
  18. Tick tock watching the clock....
  19. Well... Princess - pre-op diet starting???? Hope you have some yummmy / healthy items ready! You can do it!
  20. late reply... to Hollygurl... Yes and No... it has been frustrating, and slow at times ... but, looking back I have to say, easiest/fastest/only 100 pounds I've ever lost! lol Does that make sense? Some behavior changes are coming naturally, and some are... difficult. When the scale seems stuck, and I am "doing all the right stuff".. it makes me feel like I could - again- be failing. Then the scale finally takes off a few pounds and I feel successful. The emotional part is a roller coaster... but my weight loss has been "down hill steady", while my health and abilities are gaining ground! Some days when I reflect... I see and feel, an amazing difference. Some days when I look in the mirror... I still see a "fat girl". Some days... I feel great that I am half way to goal..100# gone. And some days it is simply that I still need to lose 100# more, to look and feel normal.
  21. Does she have any experience with any .... surgery and death, in her personal life? That may have sparked the unexplained crazy talk. Maybe she is speaking out of concern.. but in a weird way? Not the best way to say I still care.. but it could be "her" way?
  22. Hi, it's late so I'll quick reply... Congratulations on beginning... I do not exercise A LOT.. but YES I DO EXERCISE some. I wish more.. it does make a big difference.!!! On my way home tonight, I felt like pigging out (home from visiting someone in the hospital).. I stopped at Taco Bell.. got one taco supreme/no lettuce/no tomatoes... "wolfed" it down in 10 minutes, and trashed the last four bites. lol Chocolate... does go down easy... one "kiss"/tiny piece at a time -no bars allowed for me. I thought about a big mac... no buns/no lettuce... etc... but too hard to use a fork while driving at mid-night. lol Funny but true! I'm an open book.. ask me anything, and from my perspective/experience I'll tell you more than you want to know. Good luck and great health... Kimberly:)
  23. I had barely cheated.. 1 bite of fish ....... twice in a week.
  24. I answered chicken ... more secifically dry/white... no go. Next would be any iceburg lettuce... NO GO ... even a tiny shred!
  25. My Mom is hospitalized and gets visits from a neighboring patient.... who got gastric bypass, had an infection and some major GOUT. What's up with that? Could it be coincidence? or WLsurgery related?
