Feeling insecure about dietitian's advice
Sounds a lot like weight watchers. Seems like a lot of food. If we were able to eat like this our whole life we would not have needed surgery. My self when I eat carbs I crave more food and that is my problem. He told you not to count calories but wants you under 1000 a day, duh! Go with the advise of your dr, then if that does not work try this. Good luck.

I need some supportive words (Diabetes)...
I have been diabetic for 16 yrs. started out controlling with diet and exercise. That worked for 1 yr. next started on metforin. That worked awhile. Then doubled metforin again worked awhile. Then another med was added. You get the picture. Went on bietta and it helped me to lose 40 lbs until it started making me so nauseated I had to stop. The 3 yrs ago I had surgery and I would not heal. Had an open incision for 6 weeks. Had to start insulin. I was very insulin resistant and had to take mega doses. In 2 yrs I was up to 150 units a day. Took a shot 4 times a day plus sticking for blood testing. A human pin cushion. I am 66 yrs old but if I wanted to live a decent life I had to do something. So I had VSG. I am 7 months out and down 72 lbs. I still take insulin but 1 shot before bed and only 30 units. Are you on any meds for diabetes? Get on meds so your sugars are down so they will do the surgery. As young as you are you should rid yourself of this nasty disease.

First Thought and Consultation
I have a few inflamatory diseases and was never told anything like this. I was on 10 rx's a day and besides that I am 66 yrs old. I was told the chances for a leak were at the very beginning like 2-6 months not yrs later. Just sounds like he does not want to operate on you for some reason. I would seek out another dr. By the way I am 7 months out down 72 lbs. I started at 275 . Best of luck to you.

My Dr. Visit Today...?
Continue on your merry way. My nut told me to increase my cal to 1200 at 5 months out. Since I have done that I am not losing hardly at all. I was doing just fine at 800-1000 cal. Now am trying to go back to 800-1000 and it is not easy.

Which PPI and What Dose do you take?
2weeks post op needed a PPI. Dr prescribed 40 ml omniprazle. After 30 days I called him and said to reduce to 20 and see what happens. I continued on 20 and now at 7 months out I am trying to wean myself off of them. I usually can go 2-3 days withou and no heartburn. I will take a tums or rolaid if I get a little indigestion. Trying so hard to get off of many of my medications.

Gout Attacks Post Op
My husband has gout and takes allopurinol and colchicine everyday to keep the attacks at bay. When you said they keep giving you pain medicine makes no scents to me. Maybe you should call your surgeon and ask if you can take those medicines.

I'm here at the Marriott being lonely.
Please don't be scared. Everything will be just fine. I have read so many good things about the surgeries in Mexico . Watch a little TV and then try to sleep. It will all be over and done with before you know it. Best of luck and make sure you tell us how it went.

New Post Op VGS Patient
It took me at least a week before the pain was gone. Mine was really bad. He had to go thru very old thick scar tissue and this is where he pulled the stomach out. As far as the fatigue goes that lasted a whole lot longer. Maybe you can work half days for awhile.

Wendy's Chili
My dr said to just eat what we are supposed to eat and not over fill the sleeve. I know at 7 months out I am able to eat too much. I have to stop myself from doing that. Check with your nut to see if you should eat that much at one time. Christie at 7 weeks you definitely should not be eating over 1/2 cup at a meal.

Premier Protein Drinks Review - Chocolate
Are these whey protein isolate? That is what I was told to drink because we can't process the regular protein drinks. I don't know why.

Slider foods
Popcorn, potato chips, cheese doodles, ice cream. Most anything that dissolves in your mouth and seems to me high carb, sugar and the stuff we were all guilty of eating too much of.

Need Advice About Protein
Get some PB2. This is dry peanut butter. Add 2 tbs to shake when making and the peanut butter taste takes over. It makes them tolerable and also gives you more protein with no fat and low calorie.

Can I eat this post-op and when?
I am 7 months out and was released to all foods at 6 weeks post op. I used to enjoy salad also but now I can only eat a few bites after the protein. It does not pose a problem for me, it just does not taste the same anymore. I guess I get most of my vitamins from pills. You could try eating most of your protein at 2 meals and snacks and at lunch or dinner have a salad. I don't like spicy foods so I am no help there.

lame
Are you getting enough protein and enough liquids? Have you been reading posts here? Minimum 60 -80 grams protein and 64 oz liquid a day. When were you sleeved? Ask questions here and others will be glad to answer.

Still working on it!
We need stats. You were beautiful before and more so now. Tell us how much, how long it took.
