  1. I just got banded yesterday and feel foolish for not realizing how painful this would be. everything hurts hurts. wanted so bad to be on the other side
  2. A lot of us have had PCOS. I hope it will get better for you soon. My dr. actually told me that if I wasn't on bc I needed to start if I didn't want to get pregnant because he said that so many of his patients have "suddenly" become fertile, including a 47 yr old new mom! It gave me hope for maybe a future baby. My heart goes out to you. Glad you're doing so good.
  3. Also check out carnation breakfast essentials that you mix with milk - pretty tasty for a protein shake. The costco ones had tons of protein 30 grams I think and if I plugged my nose I could get them down. Can you make one like with your fav flavors, milk and protein powder or something? There's got to be more options out there... EAS makes them, even special K does now. Good luck I hope it gets better!!
  4. I eat a paleo diet (or did until deciding to do the band) and got a cookbook called everyday paleo and it was SO helpful - helped me eat the way I wanted (high protein, low carb, low fat, mostly everything fresh fresh fresh) and gave me pictures, shopping lists, etc. So there's one suggestion - it opened a whole new world of "gourmet" food I never would've thought I liked. Have you figured out what kind of foods you want to eat and then looked for something specific? I bet Amazon.com or your library has lots of choices too and probably even lap band specific ones...
  5. So glad your recovery is going well - remember to take care of yourself even if you feel great. Good luck in the upcoming weeks!!
  6. I still have a weird feeling like that on my c section scar from 6 years ago - I bet you used that muscle and now are feeling it. I think it's pretty normal.
  7. I think each person is different. I have a friend that's lost over 100 pounds with her band and she doesn't have much loose skin - I'm actually quite shocked at how little there is, most all of the loose is under her arms but not enough she'd need to do anything about it. My two friends who had gastric both needed surgery. I have that weird flappy mother's apron thing and I am afraid I'll need it there but will worry about that some other time. There's always spandex or spanx
  8. You guys all give me such hope!!!
  9. This was so funny. I hope the sounds go away or at least never embarrass you in public
  10. Hope you all are feeling fabulous!!
  11. Best of luck to you (me too!) Hope things go wonderfully for you!
  12. I'm surprised how different they are - I couldn't have any broths, popsicles, etc. but my all "liquid" turned out to include 1 protein bar a day and it felt great to eat something crunchy even if it tasted ick . I had the costco vanilla premier protein drinks (30 grams per) for the first week and then fat free milk mixed with carnation breakfast essentials mixes for the second (13 grams per 1 cup). The second tasted way better but didn't have as much protein. Good luck to you!
  13. Me too me too - we're surgery date twins. I'm at 5 am and SO glad it's early... Best of luck to you hope things go GREAT!
  14. You can do this Tricia. Can you sleep through the weekend? I like some of the things said here - go to bed early, drink tons of water. Drink so much you feel sloshy... it helps with the hunger a bit. And get tons of protein even in your water, etc. Protein will take the edge off... you're in detox mode! So sorry I know it sucks. Best of luck to you.
  15. IF your doc said no to that stuff then don't do it, even if others were allowed. Mine didn't allow any of that and I stuck true to it all (today is my last day yay!) BUT I kept gagging on the taste of all the gross protein drinks. Finally called the office and they said I could have carnation breakfast essentials mixed into a glass of milk - they still considered it a protein drink. The last week was SO wonderful and bearable thanks to that - no more gagging, no more grossness. Maybe you could find a solution too... hope it goes better for you.
  16. Just wanted to say, I get banded in two days. I've known several people who've been through it ok but even with that, the closer I get, the little more nervous I'm feeling. Had an appt with the dr. yesterday for my rx's and he asked if I had any questions. I said "Am I going to live through this?" He started to laugh and said "Of all the things to worry about, that's your big worry?" And I explained that it really was. Not nervous about life after - just unsettled for some reason - I think because this is my first surgery I'm choosing. He's been doing lapband for many years and told me he'd never lost a patient. He's only had one patient that had a stroke and she lived (blood pressure issues) and is even still banded. He really and truly reassured me and I know it'll be ok. If I don't do this I'm going to die young or have severe complications anyway which are a lot more likely than 1/2000. So for me, it's worth the risk. I hope you find some peace about it.
  17. By the way for me the headaches were finally gone after the 4th day - I think that will get better.
  18. I'm right there with you. I'm actually literally plugging my nose now to get them down but I'm not going to give up. We will be on the other side. One thing they suggested that I am going to try this weekend is Protein Water with special K mix in - it tastes pretty good, strawberry kiwi, pink lemonade. I'm drinking some of that to supplement one drink. Also they said I could mix in some Protein drinks with milk to water them down a bit (still get the protein from the milk) and I tried that and it does dilute the taste. WE can do this! Just think how great we'll feel on the other side.
  19. But I look at both of your tickets and you've both lost a tremendous amount of weight! Don't give up - just keep trying. It's possible it's a lifetime journey... I am sorry for your frustration but never give up! (hope to be where you are someday!)
  20. I don't know what to tell you or advise but just wanted you to know your post had been read. I am so sorry.
  21. Congrats to those recently banded and those upcoming. We're all getting so close as June is getting to the end
  22. Amanda me too, we're the same day. Good luck to all those going in today!!! Speedy recovery
  23. Exercise will help a lot too - even if it's something as simple as walking around, it will change up whatever your body has gotten used to and be better for you in the long run. That does sound frustrating, I second everyone else about the food log - and if you're like me and prefer hand written there's some really great ones on amazon.com that I've ordered a few of and I'm loving
  24. I'm on day 4 - first few days were LOUSY so sorry if you guys have to go through that BUT finally feeling like I'm on the other side. Mine's protein drinks and then 1 protein bar for dinner which I'm liking just to have something to chew. I also got this special K protein drink (dr recommended it) that comes in a couple flavors to add to my water. At least it gives me variation. I'm feeling a little sloshy but glad to be on my way! Good luck to everyone!!
  25. Glad to hear I'm not the only one going through withdrawal but sorry everyone is suffering. Happy Birthday lupediva! Today I'm finally feeling a bit better, I'm on day 4. Hang in there June Buddies!
