Kinda Freaking Out...
I think for your state of mind it's good you can see the dr. soon. Everyone is probably different - I can currently feel what I think is my port and it's a tiny hard thing right under my most painful incision (6 days post) but my friend that had this couldn't EVER feel her port until she'd lost over 100 pounds... and she was no heavier than I. We probably all carry different bits of different scars, tissues, fats, etc. in different places so I bet just as your body is changing, so is the port place. Let us know what you find out but try not to worry too. Best of luck to you.

Horrific Port Pain
I do not but wanted you to know your post was "heard". I'm sorry for your suffering.

I'm Too Picky For Liquids????
Just re reading this and wanted to ask about the sodas part - I have been told repeatedly soda is a HUGE no no with the band. Does your dr. say those are ok? I'm just surprised.

Too Much Too Soon
Can you get to your dr. soon and get checked? Be very careful until you can. I'm sorry for your pain. Please be careful and take care of yourself. No food is worth risking all you've already been through.

Self Pay Need Help Finding Doctor
My insurance wouldn't pay and if I paid cash it was just under $11k but if you paid with a card it was more like $12K. I'm in Utah. My dr. charges about $300 a year after the 1st year which is a yearly fee for fills and checkups, etc. He also takes insurance. Dr. Darrin F. Hansen. He is WONDERFUL. I went to many seminars, drs, etc before picking one. I too considered the mexico route but decided I felt safest in US (doesn't mean I was right ). Also you can pay per fill with my dr if you prefer, I think it was $75. He will only do his own patients. He never lost anyone and has done hundreds of bands AND his office people are all banded, nurses, etc. which I liked. Good luck to you!!

Frustrated!
I got told a week before surgery my bp was too high and I couldn't have it if it still was day of. What do you think that did to my bp? But instead of bursting into tears like I wanted I asked how I could fix it (for me it was adding a pill to the mix, giving it a week, and thankfully it worked) and then doing what he said. Sounds like a great dr. Yes frustrating. Cry or scream or vent if you want. And then do what he said - you'll be better off in the long run. I am so sorry though.

Hiccups Anyone Else?!?
Are you drinking too fast? I've only had them once and it hurt SO bad but I realized how I'd been drinking without thinking. Now I'm careful to be careful and haven't had again. I am so sorry, I know they hurt. Good luck to you!! I'm 6 days out.

Pre Op Today And Surgery Tomorrow
Good luck tomorrow. The next few days *might* be miserable (I hope they will be smooth sailing for you!) but it's going to get better and soon. I'm not even a week out yet and it's way better than the first few days. You're doing such a great thing!! Good luck to you.

Post Op Pain
I was banded same day as you. I think the biggest incision is your port one, which is mine. It hurts the most (others can't really feel anymore) and it's a tiny hard. Mine is on my right side, highest up. The bloating for me is only finally starting to subside - I think it's a mix of the gas still in me and also the swelling from my stomach. I haven't thrown up at all but have had several PAINFUL rounds of throwing up what turned into just big bleches... gas x helped and so did heat pad. As I've had those and finally potty workings too, my bloating is going away. I hope it does soon for you too. Sounds normal to me since my experience is similar to yours. We can keep in touch and compare notes if you want since we're band day buddies. Don't worry about what you're feeling now, and I hope your pain is under control. Best of luck to you!!

Hi June Buddies
I am still on liquids for a bit but am anxiously awaiting mushies just for variety. I haven't been hungry, mostly just so dang thirsty but that's better too. I can see in 1 weeks time though the big jump from eating nothing to downing 1 cup. Like you said gems, we've got so much to learn so we don't go back to the same way of doing things. The 4th was my most emotional day, because of being around food and not being able to have any. I was a jerk to my family I'm sure and miserable BUT I got through it and today felt fantastic. I think being filled will be a few days like that again. I plan to use the tools the band will give me so that I can still once in awhile eat something I loved but at the same time lose weight, exercise, basically be the healthy me that being overweight has made it hard to do. I will be going back to paleo eating (caveman diet, anything you can hunt or gather) and back to CrossFit as soon as I can. I'm really looking forward to it too - being doing it awhile but now I'll actually have success!! My new motto is going to be 90% - 90% perfect, 10% small indulging knowing the band will force me to keep it small if it's eating, or part of the 10 if I miss an exercise day, etc. I think it's going to be a realistic way to live.

Banded Today
I'm jealous of your ball but so glad for you and your band. Even if the first few days are bad (and probably for you they won't be YAY) it does get better, I'm less than a week out and finally feeling good. Best of luck to you and welcome to the site... great peeps and info here.

Freshly Banded
There's a link near the top of the forum that is surgery day stories. Hope you're feeling ok, I was banded the 29th and first few days were like hell for me but last couple have been awesome. WELCOME! Loads of friends and support here and answers to almost anything.

Emotional
Those carnation instant breakfasts are the only ones I can stand anymore. Never noticed an aftertaste with them but probably cuz I love milk.

Regretful
Each step of this has been so much harder for me than I thought it would be that I expect waiting for fills, finding green zone, etc. will be too. But you got through it right? The liquid diet, the pain of banding, the starting foods again, etc. YOU CAN DO THIS and it will get better. Don't give up on yourself or your band. (And I can say this now, 3 days earlier I would've screamed obscenities I think!)

Marriage & Lap Band Results
My dh's big fear is I won't like him - we've had several friends who ended up divorced after one or both had wls. We have a good solid marriage and we love each other and we're committed. I will always love him and since he's loved me through thick and thin (literally) I know it'll be ok. I love him the same too. I am sure it's emotional for everyone but you're still YOU and so hopefully it will all work out. I think the trouble comes when someone forgets that you're still YOU - be that you or him. My own dh is actually pretty excited to see the changes in me and it's making him work on some of his own which I love too.

Need Inspiration, Support, Ideas?
Have you talked to a dietician? I wish I had some words of advice and I don't but I know someone out there can help you. I do think that if you aren't eating enough even if you're heavy that it can keep you from losing weight (been there done that) and it's so frustrating. Sounds to me like you're doing it all right but maybe a professional would have more info on how to help. Good luck!!

I Cheated
I agree with everyone else - don't let yourself cheat. You probably went through a lot just to get here - you are strong enough to live the diet and you are strong enough to control yourself. Call you dr. and ask their opinion and then stick to it. Do what is best for you in the long run. You can do this.

Chest Pain/shortness Of Breathe
I keep reminding myself of all the reasons why I did this - just because I'm in pain doesn't mean those reasons go away. Reading here gives me a lot of hope - both that I'm normal in my pain and healing and also that this does get better. I have irl friends who are years out and say it's the best thing they ever did. I truly believe I'll say that someday but I second going to the support groups so we can get through this without giving up. Having terrible c sections was worth it because I got cute babies out of it this will be like that when I get good health and weight loss through it. Hang in there everyone!!

How Long Until You Fellt 100% ?
I am so glad hope is out there. I've felt like a zombie since surgery on Friday but this morning I'm finally feeling like I'll be human again someday so I'm halfway there
