Just Need To Vent
Sorry that you are frustrated. Look at the positive side. You don't have to do the dreaded preop diet. Best of luck to you tomorrow. Check back in when you feel up to it and let us know how you're doing.

My Lovely Pre-Op Diet...
I didn't use any of the shakes you mention. I did want to tell you good luck with your preop diet. It can be rough. Just remember why you are doing it and that it is only temporary.

Day 4 Post-Op - Some Questions
- Stupid Question: Watermelon
I too love watermelon and find I can eat more of it than other foods. For that reason, I call it a slider food.- Day 4 Post-Op - Some Questions
Yes, you do as dehydration is the number 1 reason people end up back in the hospital. Hang in there girl. It can be rough in the beginning. You will live your sleeve once you get through the early healing stage you are in now.- Day 4 Post-Op - Some Questions
Welcome to VST! Im sorry you are having some issue The temperature at 4 days post op is normal. However, my doctor told me of mine went above 101 degrees that was not normal and I needed to contact their office Not keeping anything down is not normal. You will get dehydrated and end up back in the hospital. I would suggest you call your doctor first thing tomorrow morning. Good luck to you and keep us posted.- A Perspective On Stalls & Gains
Wow! That is impressive. I wanna be like you when I grow up. Until then, I'll keep weighing ever day.- A Perspective On Stalls & Gains
Okay, your post made me laugh. I originally typed that no one on here would understand. Then, I realized that may not be accurate since there may be a scientist on here who does understand it. Thanks for sharing the link. I'm definitely going to check it out.- Hey It Looks Like I Finally Broke My 3 Week Stall....yipeeeee!
That is awesome! Congrats.- Logon Issues....
You sound like me. I'm on here all the time! I just tried again and it is still stuck on the "contacting remote site" message. I'll let y'all know when I hear from the Admin.- A Perspective On Stalls & Gains
First of all, I'm only 9 weeks and 2 days out so the perspective I'm offering here is what I call the "newbie stall or gain" and not the stalls and gains of those of you get who are much farther out than me and a lot of us I see post about stalls. Since being released to eat soft foods, my diet has pretty much been the same. I usually eat 600 to 800 calories a day and for the most part, my intake is closer to the 800 calorie mark than it is to the 600 calorie mark. I weigh everyday, but only record my weight on my blog every Monday. When I weighed in on Monday July 30th, the scale showed a gain of two pounds from the prior Monday's weigh in. I had done nothing different that I could pinpoint as the cause of this gain. I wasn't happy about it, but knowing that it sometimes happens, I moved on from focusing on it. Throughout that week, I continued to weigh everyday as I normally do. The scale would show I was up one day and down one day but it wouldn't consistently go down. I was gaining and losing the same 3 pounds all week. When I weighed on Saturday my scale said 261.8. That is only .6 lower than my previous Monday's weigh in. I thought surely I was in for a little loss or a gain again in 2 days when I weighed in and recorded that weight. Sunday, though when I weighed the scale showed me losing 5.6 pounds overnight. It shoked me so much that I weighed 4 more times just to make sure it wasn't my scale going bonkers and yep, I'd "lost" 5.6 pounds overnight. I wasn't sure though that it would stick. I was hopeful, but doubtful. Then came Monday morning. I woke up, peed and hopped on the scale afraid of what I'd see. The scale showed exactly 1 pound heavier from Sunday's weigh in but it gave me a weight loss of 5.2 from the previous Monday's weigh in. It felt really good to put that in my blog considering the week before I had to put a 2 pound gain. Anyway, on to this week. So Monday, I weighed 257.2. On Tuesday, I weighed 255.6. I'd lost 1.6 pounds overnight and was down 49 pounds total. Yay! On Wednesday, I weighed 254.8. Another loss this time in the amount of .8 overnight. I was now only .2 pounds away from hitting the 50 pound mark. And all that brings me to this morning. I got on the scale and it said 253.2. Wow! I couldn't believe it. I'd lost again overnight. This time 1.2 bringing me to a total of 51.40 pounds gone forever. So, my point to this is you have to look at the whole picture of weight loss and not just what happened today or over the past week or two or three. The week I gained 2 pounds was no different than this week where I've lost 4 pounds in only 3 days. I've been very consistent with my program and there just is no logical reason for what has occurred. Okay, yes there probably is but it is probably stuff a scientist would have to explain and we wouldn't understand anyway unless of course one of us here is a scientist. Anyway, I know that sometimes it is hard to look beyond what is going on at the present, but we really need to sometimes in order to keep our sanity. Stalls and gains will happen and we will hate every minute of them but when we step back and look at the overall picture, it will look a lot better than what is going on in the present. I hope I've offered some insight to those of you struggling with a stall or gain right now and that it will give the ones of you who haven't expreienced this some comfort when you finally do.- Logon Issues....
Yes! Yesterday, my mobile app was hanging on the "contacting remote site" message. Thinking it was my phone I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. It will now let me look at the site but it won't let me log in. I have reported the problem and will keep you updated when I hear back. I also reported that the site is no longer subscribing us to posts we comment on and when I access the site from a desktop (like I am now), I'm not getting messages telling me that people have responded to posts that I remembered to subscribe to.- New To Vst.
Welcome to VST. You will find loads of information here as you read posts. If you are interested, I document my journey on my blog. That being said, my experiences may or may not be yours. Best of luck to you on your journey!- July Sleevers
The dreaded 3 week stall. It's a very well known phenomenon in the world of VSG. Some have it a 2 weeks, others at 4 weeks but the majority have it at 3 weeks. Hang in there and keep following your doctor's orders and it will break. I promise.- Am I Able To Do This?
Definitely. I never thought I'd make it through it and here I am 9 weeks post op. Hang in there and remember this time is a very small blip on the screen of life and it is temporary. Trust me, it will be with it. You will love your sleeve.- Update
You're my new BFF Joni. :-) Most people think I'm in my early 30's. It surprises everyone when they find out I'm actually 44. The post came up in the recent posts and I had to jump in and comment how young you look even though I'm not yet 50 and not part of your group yet.- Abdominal Binder
- How Many Calories?
I'm 9 weeks out and eat between 600 to 800 calories a day. Eat a little more if you feel you need it.- Just Curious
Most of the issues you see on this site are normal postop issues after major abdominal surgery. Yes, some do have complications but not many.- Having Boy Problems, I Feel Bad For You Girl...
I totally respect your choice in who you spend your time with, but just because you love him isn't a good enough reason. What if he was physically abusive? Should you stay with a man who beats you? Of course not. What he is doing is emotional abuse. To me statements like "Are you really going to eat that?" "You want more?" are very rude even said in the nicest way. And, getting mad because you are recovering and don't want to have sex is rude. Where is the understanding and support from him? Finally, eating something you love right in front of you is just down right rude. Again, I respect your choice to stay with him because you love him. I just don't understand it. Please take good care of yourself.- How Long Did It Take For Your Incisions To Heal?
If it is scabbed over, you can put the patch directly on it. At least I did and I was fine. If it isn't, then I'd put a layer of gauze between your skin and the heating pad. Abdominal binders are tight. They are supposed to be. Trust me, if you are having pain there, especially a pulling pain, the tight binder will feel good. I know it doesn't sound like it would, but it does. You can get them at CVS, Walgreens, Walmart and other pharmacies. I don't know what you weigh, but if you are too heavy, those might not be big enough to fit. If this is the case, check out the Spanx type things at Walmart, Target, Lane Bryant, etc.- Extream Post Op Diet ?
Wow! That is quite extreme. I thought my doctor was by keeping his patients on liquids for 3 weeks, but I got to eat anything my sleeve would tolerate at week 6. As you read more and more on these boards, you will learn that the doctors all have different rules, some more extreme than others.- Thinking About Taking Up Running....
There are also apps for your phone for C25K that you can use your own music with and it will beep over it when it's time to change.- Having Boy Problems, I Feel Bad For You Girl...
Wow! I'm sorry your boyfriend is treating you this way. I was in a situation where my partner was very superficial about all kinds of things so I can somewhat relate. I will tell you the best thing I did was get out of the relationship. Obviously, we all have to make our own decision but it sure doesn't sound like he is a very good guy with the way he has treated you and some of the things he's said to you. And, I agree with the psychologist. You will resent him for wanting you more when you are thin. It says to you that you are now good enough and you weren't before. No one needs someone who doesn't love them unconditionally. Life is just too short. Congrats on your surgery and best of luck to you on your journey!- How Long Did It Take For Your Incisions To Heal?
The pain on your left side isn't really about when you incision heals. If your surgeon is like mine, It is where they cut through the muscle and pulled your stomach out. It will take time to heal. You just have to take it easy and listen to your body until it does. My tips would be to use an abdominal binder or a Spanx like garment that comes up as high under your breast as you can. That will offer a lot of support and help the pulling and pain. Also, get one of those heated Patches that you can put under the garment on the area that hurts so bad. Sorry you are in pain, but know it will go away. This is just another part of the process. Best of luck to you on your journey and congrats on your surgery! - Stupid Question: Watermelon
