  1. I've had the same problem. I think most, if not everyone, does. I am 9 weeks out and down 49 pounds. While I know I've lost weight and inches because my scale and tape measure say so and because I'm down 2 pants and shirt sizes, I cannot see it AT ALL. When I look at me, I see the same me even in pics. I'm hoping when I do my pics next Monday (I do them every 4 weeks), that I will be able to finally see it. BTW, do they make have an optometrist who can correct weight loss eye issues?
  2. Glad you joined us. Welcome to VST and best of luck to you on your journey!
  3. I'm not a doctor, but I'd venture to guess it is most likely your iron level. Blood thinners given 3 months ago shouldn't be affecting you now for as little time as you had them. If you start iron and don't see an improvement you should probably see your doctor.
  4. Today, I am exactly 9 weeks out from surgery and I got a "present" for my anniversary. For the last couple of weeks I have been gaining and losing the same few pounds. Although I understand that is part of the process, I still don't like it. Anyway, I woke up yesterday and weighed as I do every day and the scale was done 2 pounds. Yay! This morning I woke up and again weighed and the scale was down another 2 1/2 pounds. Yippppeee!!! That makes up for stall I was in for the 2 weeks prior. Okay, but all that isn't but my "present". What is my present is that I'm at 49 total pounds lost now......1 more pound till I hit the big milestone of 50 pounds. I've been waiting to hit that milestone and now I'm on the door step to doing it. For anyone reading who may be considering having the sleeve, do it! It is one of the best decisions of my life. I started this journey at just over 300 pounds. I had high blood pressure for which I took meds and my cholesterol was on the border of needing meds. My whole body hurt all the time and just normal daily activities were a chore and literally a pain to my body. Bending over to tie my shoes or shave my legs was painful and left me breathless. I sweat at the least little exerction and stairs were hard. I felt so helpless to control my relationship with food and thus lose any weight. Food controlled my life and I was miserable. Today, just a short 9 weeks later, I am so different. My body only has occasssional pains now, I'm down to 1/2 my dose of blood pressure meds, I can tie my shoes and shave my legs with no problems and I have tons of energy these days. Food no longer controls me. Yes, I still have mental battles with it but I'm working on those and learning to quiet those noises in my head that want me to graze all day. I had tons of pain up until I was 4 weeks postop. Knowing what I know now, even that wouldn't stop me from doing it all over again if I had to. I hope everyone is rocking their sleeve and loving life!
  5. Yes. Emily has some good recipes. There is also a lot of protein recipes on Pinterest.
  6. I guess it's a good thing to be an addict of!
  7. The preop diet isn't always easy. Remember, it is temporary though. You can do it! Hang in there and congrats on your upcoming surgery.
  8. A lot of people, myself included, like the Premier ready to drink shakes you can get at Costco or Sams. You might also go to GNC and talk to them about what's popular. Good luck to you!
  9. Welcome to VST. Best of luck to you on your journey!
  10. Congrats. I know you must be very excited. Before you know it, your day will be here. Best of luck to you on your journey.
  11. I think they typically cover it. I'd give your insurance company a call just to be sure.
  12. Congrats on making it through day 1. Day 2 for me was the worst. By day 4 or 5 (can't remember for sure) all was well. I had tons of energy and felt great by then.
  13. Good luck. Check in and let us know how you're doing when you feel up to it.
  14. I will be 9 weeks out tomorrow. I eat about 600 to 800 calories daily and walk a mile 3 to 4 times a week. I'm BackToAmy on MFP.
  15. I hate doing it and did find it hard. Kinda like tying my shoes. Now that I've lost 47 pounds, both are so much easier. I still hate shaving though and do it as little as possible.
  16. Oh, and yes I did that same "diet" too prior to my preop. I did it right up to the very time I had to start my preop diet.
  17. Definitely not! A post with this same subject/concern comes up quite regularly. I think it is totally normal to want to eat everything you love before surgery. You may still be able to have most of the foods you love at some point postop. However, you won't be able to ever have them in the same quantity. There is some grieving of that postop, at least for me anyway. Good luck to you in your journey!
  18. Welcome to the other side August 6th sleeves! Best of luck to you on your journey!
  19. I will be 9 weeks postop tomorrow and have already had 2 stalls. My second one ended over the weekend. The good thing is I've still lost 47 pounds.
  20. Thanks for posting this. It is really nice to hear from people a ways postop.
  21. Welcome to the other side!
  22. I'm sorry this is happening to you. However, you may have a case against them in honoring what they sent you in writing. If they come back on you with something different, I would argue it with them to try and get them to honor what they put in writing. If they say they won't, then file a complaint with the Department of Insurance in your state. You can Google your state's Department of Insurance. Also, make sure you keep the original documents the insurance company sent you and keep records of the date and time of each call and who you spoke to. Good luck to you. I hope it all works out for you!
  23. I think you are going to get very different answers since, as your pointed out, people heal at different rates. At 9 days out I was no where ready to sit at a desk for 8 hours much less do something like you have coming up. Not only did I not have the energy at that point, but I'm one of those who struggled with quite a bit of pain. I was on prescription pain meds off and on for 3 weeks. There may be others who think you could do it fine based on their experience. However, based on mine I would say to reschedule. The truth is, you could get 1000 answers here but all those will never determine how you will feel postop. As much as you want this surgery yesterday, I wouldn't risk it. It is better to put it off until you have plenty of recovery time than to be so tired or so in pain you can't do your 12 hours. Good luck to you in your decision and your journey!
