gramaof4 got a reaction from kw2walker in Un-break my heart
I see this post was earlier last year...but I am 11 days post op WLS and I will say...my husband did not go to any apts with me, nor did he go to the surgery with me...my sister attended the surgery and stood vigal by my side...love her! I flew home and he was there to pick me up...I had to ask him if he could carry my 47 lb bag.... He gave me a superficial kiss and when I jokinly said so did ya miss me after 11 days....he laughed and said "nope"...did just fine.
I have been married 20+ yrs now, 5 children later....I am thnking (ccbc) is way right on track...these men take their "fat ole' ladies" for their maid, mother, and care giver. I had meals pre-prepared for him and the kids prior to surgery...all he had to do was preheat the oven....I had laundry done folded, ironing done etc... of course he didn't miss me, why would he...I did all my chores 11 days pre-opt...
However I do have a very wise girlfriend who told me recently....Do not make any life altering changes just after surgery....He may be scare, insecure, and just waiting for his life to come tumbling down like the Roman Empire....what he is unsure of...we ladies just wonder...I married my husband 20+ years ago weighing in at 130 lbs....does he think I love him more since I am 354 lbs? NOT and especially when he acts like he is 3 yrs old.
I drove myself home home 130 miles after long plane ride while he was in the passenger seat sawing logs..
Weight and see is a big game!

You go girl.... I have now lost 104# and I have a whole new sence of confidence...As I see myself walking down a windowed hallway I see my "new" shadow...and think to myself "hmmm you are looking pretty good!" Before I would see the shadow and wish I could run the end so I wouldn't have to look at the nasty shadow blob...
I know I am still 94# over goal and when I finally get there well hell's bell's....I'm gonna party! I now have men approach me and ask for dates, dinner and more...(however, I'm married)lol. I have younger men tell me if I wern't married they would wellllll you get the point... New confidence...It is wonderful!
    Good luck with your Sleeve!

I feel the same way - I love, love, love my Diet Dr. Pepper, but I've had a million of them; enough to last me 4-ever. I've been meaning to quit them for years now. I'm not saying that it is not going to be tough, but I'm ready, as of 06/05/12!

I live on tea now, that is about all I drink. For the past 3 months, all I have had is about 4 glasses of water, and the rest is either tea, cold or hot, and SOBE water. I was a two liter a day diet coke. I thought, I would never make it with out my diet and cigs, but 5 months out and I'm still alive, and so happy. You will be two

I bought some desert size plates on ebay that are so beautiful and just the right size. When I use them, I get the right amount. In fact, my husband is also using them too. I never want to use the dinner plates anymore.

Goodwill is an amazing source for small plates. I bought myself some lovely china plates for my new "dinner service".

They say it can take up to a month for the Grehling hormone to exit our bodies.... I called the dr. when I was so close and he suggested I try an egg to see how it went down...was just fine. I have lost 61 lbs in the past 8 weeks today!

Good for you!...I love this forum for the simple fact I can say what is on my mind and heart, and no one judges...
This is one of the best support groups we have, and it happens throughout the day...so many answers to many questions and things come up we don't even think to ask about. The vetran sleevers are awsome. I too am only 7 weeks out was sleeved on 2-27-12 in Mexico by the best surgeon Dr. Aceves...I experienced NO>>>YES ZERO pain during my surgery and afterwards...wow was I lucky.
I have only lost 52 lbs to date but I am swimming 3x a week and counting calories/protein/carbs and attempting to get in the liquids...very hard for me...And I work full time, and have 2 kids still at home and an unsupportive husband

Surgery is not a Fix All, it is simply a tool we purchase to help us lose weight, kinda like a diet pill but WAY BETTER! I find some people even if they know you've had the surgery are timid about saying "oh you look great, Keep it up" they will tell a family member who is brave enough to pass along the compliment. And then you have folks who you've known for years who are not aware you have had the surgery and they EXCLAIM IN THE MIDDLE OF PUBLIC "OH MY YOU ARE LOOKING GOO, THERE IS ONLY HALF OF YOU LEFT, WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING TO YOURSELF" now when this happens you will be completely validated! This happened to me just this week and I've only lost 52 lbs....but this lady just couldn't help herself...and you know what?....It felt great to have such a compliment!
    Good Luck

Hey sister~ I have 2 kids left at home and they run me ragged...I can only imagine having 6 ...yikes kudos for you!!!
At 4 days post opt I was walking short jaunts and counting the steps to home...LOL You will bounce right back because by day 10 I was going to the movies, attending the county fair in Imperial California, and later by 19 days I started water arobics. This was the best thing for me as you are boyant in the water, your knees and back don't complain and you get a good work out! This is something I could never do on land with the weight impacting on my joints being so heavy.
You need to stay away from the scale for a time, then when you do hop on the little bugger it will tell you, you weigh less...the numbers will start to fall.
Keep in mind your body will go thru stalls, you just gotta work thru them, mine was at about 3 weeks I had a bout 4 days where I did not even lose 1 ounce.....grrr
DO IT FOR YOU!!! everyones metabolism is different...are you keeping a food calorie/carb/protein diary? If not try it, it really helps me be honest to the program I have set forth.

I'm so glad I am not the only one trying to make a new body for my self by looking at everyone else. I want J-Lo's butt and Dolly's boobs, Jane Fonda's legs and Wonder Woman's torso lolololololololol and her super powers, then doing house work would be quick and easy. heheheheheheh.

I hear you about the preop diet. I start mine this coming Tues 4/10 and I am scared out of my mind. First, you would think I would have given up the diet pepsi ahead of time. did i? NO. so I can go cold turkey on the pop that I drink about 32 ounces a day. If I could stick to a diet, I would be thin. That's the whole problem. But I'm scared to death that if I don't comply, my liver will be too large, and they won't do the surgery. I am going to do this. i have to. And you will too. I will lock myself in a closet if I have to. lol. I already apologized to my husband and daughter for anything I might say or do during the 2 weeks, but I know that will be no excuse for mistreating people. Who knows, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised and it will be a piece of cake. Piece of cake???? did I just mention food? OMG. Be strong!

Start trying to lose weight ahead of time and before the liquid diet is assigned. I saw my surgeon 2 days ago and told him about the 11 pound weight loss I just had by doing a high protein diet for the last 3 weeks and he said it was great and that I could skip the liquid diet because of it.

My butt yet to start shrinking either, but my feet have melted down to a normal foot size, my pants went down 2 waist sizes, and my face has melted away so it is a glowing 1 chin face....my heart and liver and kidneys i'm sure are rejoycing due to their loss of fats around them....
Always check out the positives....fat is lost around your heart, liver , and kidneys first because they are the ones who are taxed the most from our weight issues, this allows us to get more energy and be healthier so our bodies can exercise with less trouble.
Your/my butts will come soon enough give it time, give it time...we didn't make these butts over night!

Yes, and every time I lose it "on my own" I gain back about 10% more than I lost. Dieting has made me morbidly obese! I think what you say is just right. I haven't told anyone yet but I pprobably will when they ask. I just don't know if I will be as nice as you about it!
