Bariatric Advantage
i agree with sojo and jim. my hub actually took the Protein shakes and a print out of the bartric advantage stuff to walmart to compare. same ingredients and i also consulted with my dr and nutritionist who advised just what jim said: (Bariatric Advantage is just a name. Don't let "bariatric" in the name fool you into thinking is it something special) so i get my Vitamins and Protein shake powder at my local walmart

You Had Your Surgery And ..
now, how are you feeling? what are you doing now that you weren't doing then?? i had my surgery in June on the 6th. thus far am 53 pounds off and (hopefully more--i only weigh once a month so dont know what the pound loss is today) but i have lost about 6 sizes. (trouble with being short and wide as i am tall) i feel so much better. i am more mobile and i am loving life again. and i am loving me again. what i am doing now that i wasnt? going into stores without being embarrassed and now i am able to walk through them without fearing i will die of heart attack. love my band and i love my plication (no fills yet). what about you?

What Is The Average Weight Loss Post Op?
sounds like success to me. why ruin it by getting on a scale to read fickle numbers that change all day long??? LOL you promise to just keep asking alot of questions no matter what

What Is The Average Weight Loss Post Op?
your still healing, i really wouldnt worry about losing weight for a short while. tmf would say not for 4 to 6 weeks and i happen to agree. just focus on the inches lost rather then the numbers on a scale. you sound as if you are doing so well. keep positive thoughts only.

Getting Frustrated
got my pcd to refer me to my insurance in late feb........had surgery beginning of feb. like the posters before me says, it depends on your dr's and the insurance.......it varies... i wish you all th best (getting frustrated only makes you more frustrated and solves nothing). so dont do it.

Is Salad A Red Flag Food?
hm, i eat a ff turkey hot dog every now and then. Protein is good and i can deal with it being low calorie. i am not a sodium person, so this little sodium does not bother me at all. all the best my dear

Plication People!
i am nearly 3 months out and not a fill yet. i am full at about 3/4 cup of food. i try to follow the guidelines pretty strict. you are most likely getting more hungry because you are healing. at least that was the case for me. just eat a cup of food and that should fill you up. fills are different for each doctor. but two weeks, you should have just come off liquids and now into mushies. if hungry, do your Protein as that will feed you. all the best to you.

cant find a ff caesar salad dressing anywhere ((my fave))

Is Salad A Red Flag Food?
as missy said, what is a red flag food? no food should be off limits (if good judgement is used, and portion control) you can eat anything. some foods are just more calorie laden and high fat and (cheap/greasy/salty) and others arent. salad is great. i have always understood its the high fat dressing that is bad. but if you use just alittle (and not the whole bottle) i dont see why it wouldnt be okay. good eating

List Of Items I Need Post-Op?
hm, i dont know. broth, soups (drained), sf popsicles, your protein liquids, chap stick, heating pad.....a supportive unit to listen and help if need....your instructions from the dr's that you must follow (promise you will) ......and a positive attitude. there, that is all i can think of...

Banded Yesterday
same with me on the hernia. just rest and rest and then rest some more. move your left arm as i found that helped me. (walk to help with gas. the gas x did nothing for me)...but sip and take your meds as needed. you just had major surgery so you deserve to rest and pamper yourself. congratulations (ps-it will get better as the days pass)

Struggling
i think everyone is different. i do not like what some people eat (fish for one) so what i eat is different from anyone else. i say you need to eat what you like. but make it very high Protein and lean. eat fresh veggies and fruit. eat things that are good for you. as missy said, drink alot. i am like her, i do not go over 1 cup of food at any giving time (and eat my protein first). what i can only offer is no fried, no junk/processed foods (nothing in boxes--alot of salt) no easy slider foods as you want to eat to feel full. and enjoy your food, take your time eating it. you will do fine. keep us all informed

What's Your Take On Artificial Sweeteners?
i honesty dont think too much about it. i mainly use sugar in the raw on my oatmeal or grits (1 packet) and i guess my crystal light has other artifical sweeteners in it to make it taste (sweet). i drink my coffee black and tea unsweet. i guess its up to the individual.

Emotional Breakdown
i have been there before and many times in my life. my big thing was to eat until i cant eat no more and then (get rid of it). sure food made me feel better. it soothed me. but inside i was dying. you are recently banded, good for you. we have all been there with bad moments, bad thinking, negative feelings or when our world just isnt going right. what you need to do is what the other posters said, smile. forget today and move on to tomorrow, every day we get that chance to start over. so what if you overate (or didnt). doesnt matter. what matters is you believing in yourself. deep down. find yourself. look at what all you went through to get here (pre and post op, surgery itself) that right there tells me you are a success. you are not alone. this forum is awesome for support. you need it? post something. there are people here who care. i am one of them. hang in there sweetie
