Plication People!

How much can you guys eat and have you had a fill? I am 2 weeks post op today and have been hungrier the past few days. I can at times eat a whole cup of Soup (still on mushies) now before I get full. Scares me for the future

As my doc has already made it plain that he doesn't think fills should be necessary if you have plication.

i am nearly 3 months out and not a fill yet. i am full at about 3/4 cup of food. i try to follow the guidelines pretty strict. you are most likely getting more hungry because you are healing. at least that was the case for me. just eat a cup of food and that should fill you up. fills are different for each doctor. but two weeks, you should have just come off liquids and now into mushies. if hungry, do your Protein as that will feed you.

all the best to you. :)

Okay I asked this in a different area. Please let me know why you need plication if you have the band. I'm wondering if I need to look into this. I thought the fullness was felt in the stomach portion above the band?

I have no idea where hunger is controlled. But plication makes your stomach smaller and is just another tool to make you get full faster. I do get hungry but about 1/2 a cup does it with no fill in the band as of yet.

I love love love my plication! I can eat between 2-4ounces at a time. When you get to solid foods you will feel more satiated, but soup kind of runs through pretty quick. I am almost 4 weeks out and am not scheduled for a fill until 12 weeks. I wouldn't be too concerned at this point because your body is trying to heal and the swelling has probably gone down allowing for more room in your new tummy.

I love my plication I only have .5cc in my band and I'm 3 months out and do not feel like I need any more fills right now. I'm losing weight and I'm getting restriction :-).

I was nervous right after surgery because I was also hungry. I think fills are necessary with plication, definitely for me. Plication was not enough. I was still hungry, still eating fast and able to drink. I guess I needed the restraint the band forces. You have the band, why wouldn't you fill it? That seems ridiculous to me. Every tool will help you, use it!

I am 6 weeks out and just got a fill of 2cc about a week ago. I was hoping I wouldn't need a fill either and thought maybe just the band being there with the plication would be enough. But, I was getting hungry on solid food. Now, some days I'm more hungry than others..but want to give it a little time before getting another fill. I do love the plication. I had the procedure 2 years after my band. I had a slip early on and it never really was easy for me. The plication is supposed prevent the slip from recurring. I think the greatest advantage is now I feel "full" rather than..."oh I can't eat any more because I feel restriction". This is a huge difference --at least for me and how I am responding to the physical cues. Has anyone else noticed this distinction?

I just posted a long post on another plication thread about my lap band with plication progress. I won't repeat it here but just wanted to add that I am very pleased with my surgery.
