Meal Sizes
well, until you are actually banded, anyone telling you they are full on 1 cup or less, will seem like a yeah right type of thing. but it is true. 3/4 to 1 cup of something am i am DONE. crazy as i was the leader of the pack for 2nd and 3rd plate fill ups. you need to get into the mental right frame. the band will make you feel full on less food. (and overeating can make you feel sick etc)....so its up to you to make the right decisions to eat better and healthier stuff for you. listen to mis and sojo.....they are successful banders.

Help Did I Make A Mistake
this may sound mean..so i apologize now.... your bitching about only losing 20 pounds? that is 4 five pound bags of sugar. try toting that around in your arms all day and see if you get tired..if you are thinking you made a mistake now, then you are doomed. you either have to change your thinking and get on with making yourself well or talk to your dr about taking thing out. enough with the pity party mike. you went though all the pre op stuff knowing full well what you were you doing......had the surgery and now dealing with the sometimes tough post op recovery. face the facts that you have to heal. TMF will tell you not to worry or expect losing for 4-6 weeks after surgery. and you harping on it to yourself that you are a failure and you wish you didnt have this is just stupid. snap out of it. you have done damn well so far. i wont expect nothing less from you. follow the dr's orders....walk and sip your liquids and just allow your body to heal. its going through enough without you adding needless drama on top of it. why are you thinking negative? don't do it. you are not allowed. hear me??? think positive about yourself because i am.

Lap Band The Right Choice?
with any surgery that is WLS, its a personal decision. i have 100+ to lose and so far i took 53 off that number. i work hard at it by eating right and walking as much as i can if you over eat on the band or bypass or sleeve, you can gain weight sure you will loose quicker with the bypass and sleeve but i happen to think you can lose with the band also. i may not get there as quick, but i will get there. all the best

Gall Bladder
i started having the space between my upper shoulder blades start hurting very bad back in 04. after a couple trips to ER and then the last time hub told them i was staying til they fixed me (they did a ultrasound on my tummy) and they found gallstones. at that time i had lost about 50 pounds in a short time and was told that may have been the reason (but who knows except the gall stone fairy) and anyhow, long story short, had emergency surgery. all better now. i hope you make the decision that the doctor and you agree works out best for you.

Back To Old Habits And Dont Know What To Do, Help??
Sure you know what to do. 1. Clean the crap out of your house 2. Stock up on good quality lean and solid Proteins and veggies 3. Cut out liquid calories (or empty calories) 4. Plan your meals and Snacks and eat when it is time, stop when you have eaten your portion of 1 cup of food (eating slow/no drinking) 5. Get some exercise (do what you can as every step helps) Do one of these, or 2 or all 6 There are no big secrets for what works .......but only you can do it. (feel free to add on your suggestions)

Pre-Op Diet
i was on all liquids 2 week pre and post op. it is hard. damn hard. there is no way i can lie about that. the dr told me that the pre is help shrink the liver so he can get inside easier. let me state the first 3 or 4 days i had a horrid head ache. most likely doing without my diet soda and caffeine. but then it got easier. SF popsicles was my life saver as was the Protein shakes. they made me (full and not hungry). sure i wanted to cheat. but i cheated myself my whole life on other (diets) and now i was this close to getting something to help me. so why not bite the bullet and help myself. i stayed true and am most proud of that fact. again, its a mental game. if you want to do this, you can. if you walk into this saying i cant do this, its too hard, i cant live without soda or this or that......then you most likely wont. but your attitude is good. and keep in mind, its only for a short period of time. but man, think of outcome. A new banded you who will be losing weight. let that be your guide. all the best.

Putting This Here... Cause Its Gross, But Does Involve Food.
just be careful. eat slow. never go over 1 cup of food at a time and you will be fine. thanks for this great post to newbies. alot seem to want to just start eating (too soon) while they are healing. i hope whomever needs to read this, will. congrats on your surgery. your gonna do great i can just tell. have a great rest of the day.

Gaining!?
our bander TMF would advise you not to worry about losing weight the first few weeks after surgery. i would strongly advise the same as in not focusing on weight. you are just recovering from major surgery. your body needs to heal. (even after two weeks). please do not stress over weight loss or gain by getting on the scale at this time. you will drive yourself crazy. keep drinking and doing the mushies etc and then later on, worry about losing weight. i know it is not what you want to hear but it is the truth and most banders go through this.
-
Day 1 Of Pre-Op Diet!
you will do wonderful. remember this is to ready your liver in prep for surgery. its only for a short time that you will have to do this for. stay strong and stay positive. keep drinking (the protein will feed you) and i will say that SF popsicles saved me all the best to you and congrats on the upcoming surgery.

Do You Ever Feel Like You Haven't Lost Enough?
why do you feel its not enough? who said? did the diet fairy come visit you and say that is just not good enough??? crazy woman... 21 pounds is super fantastic. oh my gosh. that is 21 pounds that is GONE. why stop now? you wont and you will keep adding those numbers until they get higher and higher. What you done is make yourself well. do not compare yourself to other losses. you are you and what you have done so far is wonderful. good going and you are a success right now.

Sex After Lapband
my dr said when i felt well enough too.....4 or 5 days.. try different positions (like standing up) if you are worried about your tummy.
