  1. I was given some advice by a lady in the waiting room at my surgeon's office. She had lost 110lbs and was THRILLED with the surgery. Her advice was that while it's fine to tell anyone you want, just keep in mind that once you tell them, you can't un-tell them. So be selective. I thought that was great advice. I have no problem with the decision or what other people think and I'm usually a blabber-mouth when it comes to stuff like this... But I decided in this case to protect my privacy. My weight issues are public enough without having to be at someone else's mercy for when they feel like discussing it... So far I've told my parents and in laws, 8-9 close friends, and 3 coworkers. I assume I'll tell others as time passes, but I'm in no rush. Once it's out there, it's really out there and I just don't know if I'm going to want to talk about it.
  2. One note about Smooth Move tea -- you drink it at night and it works by the next morning. Don't drink too much if you're not very constipated or you may have an explosion, if you know what I mean. But if you're hurting trying to push, it's the best!!
  3. For what it's worth, I feel like a total nut job. This is much much harder than I thought it would be emotionally. I've been crying a lot the last 24 hours and I feel totally overwhelmed.
  4. For what it's worth I feel like a complete nut job. This is much much harder emotionally than I ever thought it would be.
  5. I highly recommend the premixed shakes called ' 'lean shake' from GNC... Much thinner than most of the others, and I really liked what it tastes like. I'm five days postop and can drink 2, almost 3, of these without a problem.
  6. I was embarrassed by being so upset... I couldn't figure out how to delete the thread.
  7. Silverdime, I feel exactly the same way. Banded 4/18 and have this bubble pressing up against my diaphragm that I feel like I can't get rid of. So annoying!!!
  8. I'm day 5-post op and have been totally fine with big mugs of spicy Soup. That said, 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice gave me a HORRIBLE stomach ache to the point where I thought I was going to be sick.... So I'd say take it slow and see how you feel...
  9. This was my only reservation about having the surgery... I LOVE to eat. I'm not where you are yet, but I'm sure there has to be a mourning period for your old relationship with food...
  10. Hooray, you made your first mistake and survived. I'm sure it's one of a huge stretch of them to come! :-) I'm sure mine is coming right behind yours, and hoping it won't be a painful one!!! How are you doing now? You posted about 45 mins ago, so I assume it has gone down by now but wanted to say I hope you're feeling better.
  11. I assume this is normal 5-days post-op, but I want to be sure... There's a huge bruise under my belly button and it seems like blood has been collecting inside the part of my stomach that folds down... I feel fine otherwise, but want to make sure I'm not the only one. Doesn't seem like something to call the doc about unless this is very weird to you all.. thanks
  12. Yes, it's a spicy Thai soup, mostly clear, no coconut... Had to skim oil off the top with a napkin (just like a good pizza) but the flavor is amazing!!
  13. Awesome Soup 4-days post-op! Just sayin
  14. OMG, I'M JEALOUS!!!!!!! I would have paid extra for that!!
  15. Liquid Vicodin
  16. Hi there, I'm also four days out. I don't know the answer to your question. But mine are not hot to the touch, and I have no fever.
  17. I had surgery on Weds and am back to work tomorrow (monday)... But I'm nervous about it... I don't feel ready.
  18. I just noticed that Amazon.com sells the wellesse liquid vitamins... just FYI
  19. My doc said it's ok to take Flintstones Complete... So I use that... Haven't chosen a calcium chewie yet, but I'm happy with the multivitamin...
  20. LMAO!!!!!!!! I wanted to yesterday (day 3), but didn't quite feel up to the big party.
  21. Oh I can raise my hand on this one!!! The band FREAKS ME OUT. I don't know why, it's not rational, but I desperately didn't want this thing in my body. When they passed it around at the info session at the hospital I started crying. I can't tell you why, it just gives me a panic attack... Even now. Even with the band already in me. I can still tap into that freak-out and feel totally grossed out. But I also know those are just my weird fears, and not reality. And I was able to rationalize why this was the right choice for me (for all the other reasons I listed in my post above) so I gave myself a stern talking to and said "Get the f*** over it" and get the band. So I did, and I have it. But I really don't like the idea of it. Maybe someday I will. *shudder*
  22. OMG and I thought MY life was busy!!!! 4 girls and a puppy? Nuts! :-) What kind of puppy? Puppies are cuuuuute!! I grew up with Yellow Labs, but haven't had one as an adult... I miss that...
  23. Well, I'll tell you, the 1 cup of senna tea I drank 4 hours ago, it did NOTHING. :-)
  24. I'm surprised how emotional I've been. I cried a couple of times during the last 3 days of recovery "for no reason" that I could put my finger on. This is a big deal. I think there is a lot of emotion that will come up. But I would have a talk with your husband about how he can better support you. For the short term, I'd consider asking him not to talk about food in front of you. It sounds like it's a hot button issue for you, and he will hopefully help make things easier, not harder, if you tell him what's going on inside your head... For me, it was alcohol... I made my DH put everything in storage and asked that we keep a dry house for a few months... We usually had a scotch or two (or some other drink) before bed every night, and I knew I'd feel really left out if he were drinking when I couldn't...
