  1. What about drinking something hot to listen the band?
  2. OMG, I just posted a similar post not one second ago... We have the same band date!! Two weeks ago. Today suddenly my port area is hurting, as is the area around my second incision (under my left rib).... Mine isn't calling out pain, more of a dull ache...
  3. Thought I was totally better, but tonight I've been aching around my port site (next to my belly button) and under my left rib where I had a lot of gas pains the first week... Is this normal? I'm a little weirded out that it hurts all of a sudden...
  4. It hasn't in my case.... I had a total stress-ball meltdown a couple days after surgery (crying & hyperventilating for 5 hours, etc), and totally overdid it walking too much the first few days... That said, my weight loss has been great. Knock on wood...
  5. So far i'm living on mashed fish, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, and ff greek yogurt...
  6. My favorite by far was GNC's Lean Shake... Only chocolate. The vanilla and strawberry were yucky.
  7. I've told a few people that I'm doing a strict liquid diet for a month as a boost, and then joining Weight Watchers...
  8. Oops, nevermind... I didn't see that this thread was already started!!!
  9. Can someone explain what stuck means, exactly? I'm wondering if it's really stuck, as in clogging the whole machine, or if it just means there's a little something in there that takes time to melt away... Can you share what stuck means to you?
  10. Me too, and it's a challenge. But I find that while she'll only eat like 12 foods, thankfully avocados, fish and broccoli are among them... along with crackers, bread, pancakes, goldfish, cereal and anything else white carbs. hehee. and pizza and really any kind of candy. if she could live on candy she'd be fine...
  11. gas? did I have gas? I had a sore throat when I woke up, but if they gave me gas I didn't know it...
  12. Just curious if there are any other banded folks near by...
  13. Brandi, how was your fish tonight? I tried making the lemon sole recipe that I pasted in your post and it came out so badly that I had to throw it away... Maybe my filets were too thick or something, but I don't know how anyone makes that without burning the butter...
  14. It is definitely that!! I'm all over the place. This morning was just weird. And tonight was weird too... I had greek yogurt for dinner and I have to say, even though I ate Breakfast at 11am, I still wasn't THAT hungry by dinner time. I would describe it as the "I could eat" feeling... Anyway, I could only eat half the container. It's just baffling!! I mean, I know that this is why I got the band, but I really had absolutely NO IDEA how to imagine what it would feel like. So far, I love it!! This was much better than I was even dreaming of!!
  15. Wow, that list is TOTALLY different than mine... Mine didn't have any sweets, or any creamy things on it... The highest calorie item was probably mashed potatoes, and that had "(limit)" next to it...
  16. It's on my doctor's list of mushies... fork mashed white flakey fish...
  17. I went to Dr Baraka for my breast reduction. I thought he did a pretty good job. http://www.drberaka.com/ -- not sure I'd go to him again, but I was happy for a long time and had very little scarring.
  18. I was also terrified. But I did it, and I've lost 26 pounds in 3 weeks and recovery wasn't that hard (besides some emotional stuff)... Definitely feel this was the right decision for me.
  19. I wanted the sleeve and then got really scared once I heard about the numbers... Chance of death from the surgery is 1/200... In the band it's 1/2000... Having the sleeve stitch line leak stomach contents happens to about 1% of patients. Not that many considering, but you never know if you're going to be that 1%... And if it does leak, you're in agony and could be in and out of the hospital for as long as 5 months!! It freaked me out. Also, if you start to gain weight back (which happens over time, look at carny wilson) there's nothing you can do about it but to get your sleeve banded... if you start to gain with the band, you get a fill... I hear the sleeve is awesome for some people, but I didn't want to get it if it weren't 100% necessary. I decided to try the band and hope it works. If there are complications or problems, maybe I'd convert. Have you considered getting a second opinion?
  20. I was banded April 18th, a week and a half ago... I was supposed to do liquids for 10 days after surgery, but when I got my checkup she said my esophagram looked really good so I could move on to mushies. When do you get to eat eggs?
  21. This lemon sole recipe is super easy -- http://ooh.vg/Ji2uO4 My easiest regular dish is salmon... I get filets about 1-2 inches wide, drizzle with a little olive oil, salt & pepper, some sliced raw onions and garlic on top (tastes fine without the onion and garlic, too) and then bake it uncovered for about 15 minutes... Sometimes I do it in the toaster oven on tin foil if it's only 1 or 2 filets... I also do a stove-top tilapia on a regular basis and my 4yo daughter really likes it... I call it "sauce fish"... Use a big sautee pan... Saute 3 minced cloves of garlic in some olive oil until golden, add a chopped onion until soft, then add 1/2c dry vermouth and cook until half the liquid has cooked off. Then add 1 big can (28oz?) of diced tomatoes and let that simmer for 5 mins... Then put in the tilapia filets so they're not overlapping each other and spoon the sauce over them so they're covered... Cover the pan and let that cook about 5-10 mins until the fish is done (when it's flakey and breaks apart easily)... You can either serve the filets as filets with the sauce, or break up all the filets and mix them with the tomatoes and call it fish stew... Oh, and add some salt and pepper... I don't like salt very much, but you probably need some... Oh, and when I was a kid my mom used to just lightly coat some filets of sole with flour and cook them stovetop in a little olive oil. Totally simple, but yummy.
  22. This meal was fine, I would actually consider it a huge success. But emotionally it's hard not being able to eat something you want to... That was my only point.
  23. Thanks cocobean, I was afraid that was what was going on... But I did manage to eat 1 1/2 eggs, and 20 minutes later I'm definitely full, but fine. They were very soft eggs. I'm afraid of hard ones...
  24. I want to finish my eggs!!!!!!! I'm sure this is the first of MANY times I'm going to be frustrated about not being able to eat something, but it's a big wake-up call suddenly experience what it means to not be able to eat. I sort of want to cry... Just had 2 sunny-side up eggs and a little potato and I got about 3/4 through and feel this intense tightness in my ribcage. I'm sure it means I'm full. But it's really really upsetting to see those 3 last bites of egg sitting on the plate, wanting to be eaten, and know that if I go there something bad is going to happen. I poured Water on them, so I wouldn't be tempted, but I'm still upset... :-(
  25. Yea you!! I didn't have too much pain either, but I sure was tired.
