Help, I That Bite Was Too Big!! What Should I Do?
Ok, I posted first around 11am, and now it's almost 1pm and I think it's passed... About 5 minutes ago I felt a weird "glurp" in my chest and a small relief in pressure, I wasn't sure if that was it passing through because I'm still not totally better, but I do think that was it... I'm still uncomfortable and still have pressure and burping, but I don't have that golfball feeling anymore... Guess I'll stick to liquids today.

How Did I Possibly Go From 200 Lbs To 124 Lbs And Back To 176 Lbs?? :(:(
This actually sounds like a band success story in the making, and the reason I was excited about the band over other forms of WLS... You know how to do this and be successful. Now you just need to do it and you'll be back there again.

Help, I That Bite Was Too Big!! What Should I Do?
Well, it's an hour later and I'm still very uncomfortable and still burping. No extra saliva, no pain, but I feel like there's a golf ball in my chest. Hope this eventually goes through. :-( I did some reading on here and I'm going to try to sip a little hot tea. Maybe that will make this go down better. UGH!!!

Help, I That Bite Was Too Big!! What Should I Do?
I'm scared... I have this lump in my throat and I'm burping some, and I feel uncomfortable. But so far no extra saliva and no pain... Praying this goes down and wasn't as bad as I fear...

Help, I That Bite Was Too Big!! What Should I Do?
3 weeks post-op, day 2 real food... I just took a bite of mango and swallowed too quick—I think is going to be too big. It feels bad already and it isn't even in my stomach yet... Is there anything I can do early, before it gets stuck? I'd like to avoid throwing up as I'm not too long post-op... Is there anything I can do?? Or I guess I just have to wait.

Scared
I would be scared too... But don't put off calling. Maybe it's just a matter of getting some antibiotics. Or getting something slightly tweaked so you can be more comfortable!! Just because it feels all weird doesn't mean it's a big huge problem where they're going to remove it. Call asap so you can get this worry off your shoulders!!

I Think Girls Hate Me Now...
sounds like she was so jealous she couldn't stand it... sorry you had to deal with that, but it sounds like she's got issues...

Have Your Taste Buds Changed?
Sal, I'm so sorry about your brother. I can't imagine what you must be going through.

Have Your Taste Buds Changed?
Hi... I'm 3 weeks postop and I'm finding that there are a whole host of foods that used to taste awesome that no longer taste good. The shakes, for one, used to taste like chocolate milk, but now they just taste sour. And yogurt tastes weird. I had to get my husband to taste it and tell me if it was off, because it tasted so sour to me... Has this happened to anyone else?

Cant Wait For Mushies/purreed!
I'll tell you, getting to mushies opened up more problems than it solved... I was desperate to get to mushies, but then having to figure out what the hell to eat was a whole other can of worms. Nothing tastes good, nothing feels right, it's all weird... And on some level I feel like I'm failing "Being Human 101" by not knowing what to eat!!!

Psych Eval Question
There are a number of reasons I can think of why you'd need a chest x-ray: They're placing the band around the top of your stomach, and probably want to look at your organs before slicing you open to guide where they're going to put the band As a baseline, to compare in case you have problems later To make sure you don't have an infection before general anesthesia. Anesthesia slows breathing, and you can't cough with a breathing tube in your throat

Swallowing Pills
Agree with the other points above, but you can also try St. Joseph chewable aspirin. It comes in orange and doesn't taste too bad. I take Flintstone's Complete chewable Vitamins which are also very good... As for my grown-up meds, I take one capsule every morning by opening it, dumping it under my tongue, and then quickly drinking a sip of Water. Good luck!

Time Off Work! Help Please!
I had my surgery on Weds and was back to work on Monday... I wished I had one or two more days because I found it hard to sit upright for that long. However, I got through the day and was ok. WIPED OUT by night, but not in pain or anything... You should be fine whatever happens, but if you can grab a weekend to heal as well as the few days off, I think you'll be better for it.

Psych Eval Question
They want to make sure you're not mentally ill... During the info-session at the hospital, the surgeon talked about how she had a pre-op consultation with a patient who was telling her about problems with her neighbor, etc... Later, after the psych evaluation, the therapist called the surgeon back to say "Hey, do you know you had someone psychotic in your office? There are no neighbors..." The point being, if you're a well-functioning person with normal issues (even depression or whatever) you'll be fine. If you're barking at trees at night, you might think twice.

Emotional Rollercoaster
For what it's worth, I'm not lashing out at my husband—even though he's COMPLETELY in the wrong. Hehehehe.

Emotional Rollercoaster
Jen, I think you're right... I had a fight with my husband this weekend--A periodically recurring fight that we can't quite resolve, where I never feel like I can get my point across. Thinking about it now (as I've been feeling pretty chaotic since then) I realize I probably would ordinarily be eating a lot to numb the feelings... Maybe that's why I feel so messed up. Very interesting... Thank you! This is a lot to absorb...

Emotional Rollercoaster
I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm all over the place, one minute feeling good, the next depressed, the next angry... This is making me (and my husband) crazy!!!. I'm 2.5 weeks post-op and wasn't expecting to feel so..., I guess it's overwhelmed.... ? Has anyone else found this to be surprisingly emotional? I'd love to hear from anyone who went through this and survived... :-(

What Size Portions Were You Eating Between Surgery And Your First Fill?

One Year, 100 Pounds
Wow, Dawn, that's amazing. My dream is to write an email just like yours when I hit one year. I too started off thinking if I only lost 50lbs I'd be fine. I'm hoping for more, but it feels like a pipe dream. But maybe not. Congratulations to you!!!!

Feeling As If I Have A Lot On My "plate"
I'm two weeks post-op and STILL overwhelmed! haha. First it was all the appointments, then when those were over it moved on to the preop diet, then the surgery, then the post op diet, etc... Each milestone has brought confidence and a little freak out about what's next. I guess that's the nature of the beast. But the good news is that I FEEL much better. I'm sharper, better able to concentrate, more awake, lighter going up subway stairs, and I think I've even gone down a clothing size. My pants are super loose and would fall off if I didn't have a belt... Lost 26lbs in the preop diet and first week post-op, get weighed again next Thursday and we'll see how much I've lost since then... But it's definitely worth it.

Brachioplasty Yest
I don't know anything about this surgery, except that I want it!! Obviously I have to lose weight first, but even when I was thinner I had big arms. I'm sorry to hear it's painful!!! Was it covered by insurance?

5'4 Whats Your Goal Weight?
I'm 5'2 and my goal is 140... I will say though, that I cannot imagine ever getting there. That's what I weighed in high school, and it just seems like a pipe dream. I've maintained 175 in my adult life for a few years and thought I looked fantastic, so if I didn't get below that I'd be ok. But I'll try for 140 and see how it goes.

Going To Mushies Tomorrow
I wish i could skip mushies and go straight from liquid to food... The mushies are kind of making me nuts. I don't like mushy! I want to drink and I want to eat. I don't want to mush. hehe.

Post Surgery
My doctor cleared me for that type of food at 8 days out (moved it up after seeing the esophogram)...
