I would say yes, as long as you make sure all of the beans are mashed up well and you don't get any whole beans. Be careful with the hot sauce though, I've heard some people say that they don't do so well with spicy stuff post op.

I eat refried beans more like whipped beans w bit of olive oil, seasoning.,,, no hot sauce or lime, your tummy is possibly more prone to acid, and ulcers,,, think you need to ask your doc...

Hi there...I just wanted to let you know that you may want to be careful with the hot sauce and lime. I was banded on the 16th and not realizing it was drinking Propel and Crystal Light with citric acid as the second ingredient. I have had a horrible time with burning and swallowing. I spoke to my Doctor today and he put me on Prevacid. Three times a day! The acid is not good for recently banded clients.

I'm day 5-post op and have been totally fine with big mugs of spicy Soup. That said, 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice gave me a HORRIBLE stomach ache to the point where I thought I was going to be sick.... So I'd say take it slow and see how you feel...
