    New commitment.

Thanks for posting! I am in a bit of a rut with my weight loss. I am using the my time off this summer to rededicate myself to Lap Band Living. Giving up my wine and making better choices. WE CAN DO IT! The band is there to help us!
  2. Thank you all for these posts!! I was banded in 2012...lost almost 50 pounds. I am so proud of myself and was living a great LAP BAND life style. In the past few months, I have been acting like I can eat the "normal" way! As a result, I have gained about 8 pounds. I cannot let this go on! I am a teacher and devoting my summer to getting back on the LAP Band way of eating. I cannot allow myself to go back to that way of eating. Before I know it I will have gained back all those 50 pounds I lost. I am going back to basics and making my lap band friendly recipes. I did not suffer thru that surgery to allow myself to go backwards! Thanks again for sharing! Good luck to all!!

    Hysterectomy after lapband

Hi. I had my lap-band in April, 2012. Unfortunately I then had to have a full hysterectomy in July, 2013. To be honest it was stressful to explain the band to my surgeon...sounds stupid but he didn't think I really needed it. Oh boy! Did I need it! After the surgery I was fine. In fact I had to do liquids a few days after my hysterectomy and since I was used to it it made things easier. My recovery from my hysterectomy was tough because I am a teacher and I felt like it really ruined my summer. I wish I had done it in the winter but I could not wait. Best of luck to you!!

To FILL or not to fill? HELP

Thanks for the support! So I saw my doctor on Tuesday and he put a small amount in. He suggested to go back to the post-op surgery diet for at least two weeks. So I am doing a few days of protein shakes and liquids and then will move to soft foods. He feels it will give me a boost and help me to reach my goal.
  6. Hi everyone.... I had my surgery two years ago. I lost 50 pounds. In the past 6 months I have been at such a standstill. I think I am tight enough and I am making the right food choices but the scale does not move. I even walk/run about 5 times a week, I have an appointment tomorrow to see my doctor. Should I get a bit more put in? Any advice would be helpful!!!

Seem to have lost my mojo…

Oh my! I feel your pain! I had my band two years ago on April, 2012. Did great and lost 50 pounds right away. Now I am stuck! Not sure if I should go in for a fill. Sometimes I feel tight enough but just need a jump start. What can we do? Want to lose more weight!!

    Had some fluid taken out!

Wow! Been there and feel your pain! I went through that in the beginning of January. Was horrible! My doctor came in on a Saturday to take some out. I felt instant relief but then started feeling more and more hungry. I went today to get back some restriction. My doctor has taken out 3 cc so today he put in 2 cc. I am hoping and praying that this works. I really need a boost...lost 45 pounds but want to lose more...especially before the summer. Good luck!!!

    Alex, Please Fix The Site.

NOT A BIG FAN! I was much happier with the old format. This is too confusing and hard to navigate. Please let's go back to the Lap Band Forum!! Please Alex!!!
  10. Hi all.. I have been banded since April 2012 and have been very successful so far. I love my band and have worked hard to lose 53 pounds....yeah!!! The past two weeks I have had some acid reflux at night and some "night cough". Last night was the worst! I don't think my band is too tight and I am not eating late. I Luckily I have an appt with my doctor tomorrow to see what he says. I cannot go another night thru that hell. Does anyone have any ideas? This is normal for some people right? I also tend to get some gurgling noises during the day in my throat... Please help!!!!

    Acid Reflux

WOW! Sounds like we are in the same shoes! I have been banded for about a year and a half. I have been doing great...no issues...until about 3 weeks ago I was getting bad acid reflux at night with a night cough. I went last week and my dr took some out. He wanted to send me for an xray but I have not gone. I have had another bad night of acid reflux so I am going to go back in and get a bit more taken out and go for the xray. This really stinks!! I know that when I have the acid reflux it is usually because I eat late and don't wait long enough to go to bed. It is hard with a full time job and going to eh gym etc. Good luck!
  12. Hi everyone....I saw my surgeon today and am fine. I suffered from acid reflux before my surgery and took Prevacid before and right after my surgery. I was eating too late and believes that caused the problem. I have been taking the Prevacid since Monday evening and will make sure I do not eat late. Also the night that was really bad I had some red wine...which is not great. Thanks for all of your support!
  13. Thanks everyone...I am hoping fit the best. What does a dilated pouch mean? Now I really won't sleep!!! I have been able to eat and have not been throwing up...
  14. Hi there... I had my surgery April 16, 2012 and have lost 52 pounds. I am extremely happy with my weight loss and hard work and do not regret getting the band but it can be difficult at times. I was one of the ones who did not tell anyone except my husband. So now that I have such a great weight loss and my parents and other family members can really see my weight loss why do I feel bad or guilty? I am one and a half years out but do not want to mess up my hard work! I honestly don't know how people will react....any advice???
  15. That it common. The band seems to be tight for me in the morning as well. My doctor explains that it is because after sleeping all night it can tighten up in the morning. I usually just have a protein shake each morning around 10 am. Drinking hot tea when I get up also helps.
  16. That's Great!! Good luck...I had BCBS too and had a quick approval...
  17. Hi Everyone.... I want to share my success! I am celebrating my one year anniversary on the 16th of April. I am posting now because my husband and I are going away on Saturday morning for a week to Punta Cana and will not have internet service. I could not be happier! I have lost 43 pounds and have gone down two sizes. Last year I was wearing a size 20 and now can wear 16's!!! I no longer have to shop at Lane Bryant or the Avenue...I am LOVING being able to shop in normal stores, like New York and Company and the Gap!!! This past year has been such a learning experience for me and my husband. He is the only family member I told because some of them would not be supportive. A few friends knew but only the ones that are fully supportive. For those people getting ready to have the surgery or at the beginning you need to know a few things.... 1. Make sure to drink your Protein shakes and find ones that you enjoy. Luckily I have been successful with GNC LEAN SHAKES...I still have two a day. One for Breakfast and afternoon snack. They have 25 grams of protein and keep me full. 2. Always follow the guidelines given by your doctor...don't drink while eating, don't drink soda, don't drink out of a straw, etc. These are very important!!! Most of all, Chew slowly and take your time with certain foods. 3. Make sure you go for your fills and be honest with your Doctor. If you think you need more ask for it. 4. Try and exercise if you can...I have to be honest I was up and down with my exercise. I am a teacher so was great in the summer but then got sick for two months with Epstein Barr Virus so could not do much. Lastly, the LAP BAND IS A TOOL!!! You must see it as a guide to control your eating. You still need to make the right choices with your eating. I have to honest for those of you that are new to this process...it takes a good six months to a year to adjust to this way of life. Each day is a learning process and you need to make it work on your own. There are many adjustments I made in my life and I could not be happier today. I feel much more energetic and enjoy getting up in the morning and not worried about how I look...WHAT A FEELING! Thanks for listening!!

    Plateaued for 4 months now

OMG!! I can totally identify with what you are going through. I had my surgery on April 16, 2012 and have lost about 43 pounds but ever since Sept/Oct I have been stuck!!! I thought I hit the green zone but then my band was too tight and they took some out in November. I was finally getting back on track and went for a fill in the beginning of December but then got very sick. I was on antibiotics and steroids which put a stall in my weight loss. So basically I have been going up and down the same 3 pounds since October. I just want to be out of the 200's!!!! So yesterday I went for a fill and the doctor was happy because I stayed the same this month which he was happy about since I just finished the steroids. I am PRAYING that I stay healthy and finally make it to the green zone. I am going back on March 6th and hope that I can be under 200. If you have any ideas of what to do or any advice anyone please let me know....I am still happy that I took this journey though...
  20. YEAH! I think I FINALLY FOUND MY NINCH! Advice would be greatly appreciated. I got banded on April 17th 2012. I have lost 39 pounds and to be honest have been struggling. I think I feel like I have finally have an understanding of what I was doing wrong for a few weeks. I am on my 4th fill and just had another one this past Wednesday. However during the last six weeks I only lost 2 pounds. I was not making good choices with my meals and going out to eat ALOT. So now I realize that I must keep to 3 oz of Protein at each meal if I can and make sure my diet is balanced. I have not been eating alot of fruits and veggies because I have had some trouble with them. The most important thing I now understand is how slowly I must eat and to chew 30 times. This is such a long steady journey but one that I know is so WORTH it! I have never felt better about myself and am halfway to my goal. I am at 204 right now and am going to work hard to get under 200 for the holidays. What a great Christmas present that will be! My question is I am a teacher and have a difficult time with bringing things for lunch. I have a hard time eating some things and would like to see if anyone has any good ideas of things that are soft and easy to bring for lunch? I appreciate any thoughts or ideas! This forum has been so valueable through this process! Thank you all for your support!
  21. Try the GNC Lean protein shakes. They are amazing. I was not able to tolerate anything and finally someone on here told me to try these. You will not believe how they changed my life. They come in three different flavors. They are pre packaged and easy to bring anywhere. Good Luck!
  22. I have had a tough few weeks. I had a fill on November 14th and it was TOO TIGHT! I had a very hard time with eating and keeping anything down. It was so hard. Then last week I got some taken out and now I feel hungry and no restriction. The doctor mentioned that maybe my band slipped? YIKES!! I am praying that this did not happen...any advice? Has anyone had a slip? I am not prepared for having to go thru another surgery...
  23. Thanks...I appreciate your help. I am going next Wednesday 12/12/12 to see the doctor. I am hoping for the best. I am sorry now that I had an unfill last week. This is such a learning process.
