Day 4 Post Op, How Do I Know Its Healing?

HI!

Ok my issue is that i just got banded on Wednesday, and well I'm feeling ok for the most part, but the port and the insicion right next to it (on my far left side) is hot. The doctor and nurses told me to breath deep and cough so the fluids in my lungs can go away to avoid getting sick, so thats what I've been doing, It hurts a lot to do that. I mean if they are hot to the touch does it mean they are in the process of healing?? Or is it a sign of infection? Should I chill out and sit back or go about my day? Please help! :(

Hi there...

I didn't experience the heat on my incision. I had a low grade fever for the first few days....I am on Day 6. You may use an ice pack? Do you have a fever? The deep breaths are really important to help clean out your lungs from the anesthesia. It needs to come out so you don't get sick...

Hi there, I'm also four days out. I don't know the answer to your question. But mine are not hot to the touch, and I have no fever.

I'm 3 days post op and the same spots on my are slightly warm. Remember that your body is trying to heal those incisions which brings more blood cells to them. That can sometimes make them a little warmer. Same thing happens to me when I get tattoos. Did the Dr. give you some pain meds? If it hurts to take a deep breath maybe you need some pain relief. Also, are the incisions bright red? I'm no Dr, but you should be fine. If you're worried call your Dr first thing Monday and ask. Good luck!

Aww

Thanks you guys, I just feel lousy and the meds work but dont work if you know what i mean. At pretty in pink,, yes my tatts would feel like that too,, dont know why i never thought of it like that before. Guess I'm just paranoid. the far left incision was bad and I guess as I cough more, it bled through. So i had to change the dressing. Ugh i hate this! and my next appt with my doctor isnt untill the 27th, smh..

If your incisions are warm to the touch it could be a sign of infection. I would call your doctor tomorrow and ask. Could be normal, like you said it was similar to when you got a tattoo, but better safe that sorry!
