  1. my md told me that the BMI was recently lowered to 30, but many insurances aren't aware of that. (or don't want to follow that)
  2. I hope to get to that mindset soon, Its almost like theres supposed to be something more to do, but there isn't. I've been eating like I should, watching water/drink intake, sleeping enough hours. Because of my weight I never worried about fashion, looking at racks of thin clothes always going to the XL sizes, but now there are a few tops I had gotten that are L and they fit! Congratulations girl, I'm right behind you
  3. I know for myself at times, I have too much vitamins/minerals and my hair gets oil/flakey (at least in my mind) so I switch shampoos for a month or two . take my vitamins every onther day and it normally does the trick.
  4. you could make your blog private on here and use this website. i use one at mylapband journey and it will add up all your fats , Proteins and carbs. and its printable. Good Luck!
  5. My hubby read somewhere that the port tube is actually hooked to our muscles inside our stomach, not left loose as pictures show. Could this be the stabbing?
  6. I agree the ZERO Vitamin waters are really good and filling. I had thin tomato soup during my liquid week, just needed something with consistency. Keep reading on here and you will catch on and get great ideas, Good luck! welcome to the banded side..
  7. oh I meant next week. for post op check...
  8. Yep, yanking it from your lips just about, I going for my post of next month, I hope I don't see blood,, that just wouldn't be cool. I've lost 10 since surgery on 1/24 and I'm fine with that, it seems although the scale isn't moving down, my body is still changing , my physique is growing smaller. I'm sure any timeyou get a fill, that is the procedure , to follow with a couple days after with liquids to let your body adjust. If you try too soon you might get stuck or reflux... good luck!
  9. I'm like Sandy, I don't worry about calories, because I know I will be active enough to burn them off, Way to go Sandy!!
  10. way to go!!! massage/spa?

my md said I could go back to regular activities two weeks after surgery (husband was asking wink wink) , MD said you can go handgliding if I wanted too, lol . but I do walk, and have hubby park furthest away from store for added little trot. I want to try Zumba too.
  12. Its a frame of mind, I know I didn't grow up drinking something during dinner, my mom said if we did it would wash the flavor away and we would have to eat more, which is probably true, its just learning to drink around the meals. Its easier for me to drink after I've had a meal a agood hour (timed) afterwards. And if these ladies are your friends, truly, I would tell them, it would be great for you to have their support and they would be more concious of meal choices. Good luck..
  13. ok, I'll leave alone, ladies, I was just worried abit because I'm allergice to latex adhesive and wanted to make sure that wasn't the problem. Thanks,
  14. my cousin going through same thing, her insurance denied her because of low BMI 31 but she is 6'5 and close to 280. She has cysts on ovaries and takes phen-something for weight which she has been on for over two years. limit is 6 months. her hormones metabolize to where it treats what ever she eats into sugar which resembles diabetes and the insurance won't give her or dr. their guidelines. I told her to appeal and to go back to regular doctors with medical f/u , any other doctor she visited to get weights. With my doctor the more back up information I gave him, he turned it all in with his recommendation to get my lapband done. Appeal I say! These days we have to be our own health advocates and the insurance doesn't know us. Good luck
  15. I get a water in a to go cup.
  16. I would say stay with liquids for now.. ?
  17. sounds abit like my story I went from taking 1 daily pill to 12. (although I don't have diabetes YET). I'm able to lose weight, my downfall has always been keeping it off. I wish you well in your journey.
  18. Miss Meow, me too, I thinks it the salt and flavoring is why it tasted so much better! I just started mushy stage yeah, and tomato soup is the yums!
  19. I had my band in jan 24 and I was told not to mess with strips over incisions, that they would fall/slough off themselves. Here it is 10 days later and several showers later and they are still on, is that normal that they stay on so long?
  20. couldnt you take short mini walks at work, I know I do, I walk things out to offices that are in our complex, on my break I take a 15 minute brisk walk, timed myself so I knew how far out to walk so I could come back in time. every little bit helps. I think if you work after being so tired you really arent helping yourself, cuz you will be tired for the following day. Good luck..
  21. I've been banded two weeks so Im new to this, I would say start drinking your protein drinks. check with a nutritionist and your lp dr. to give you a jump start. Good luck.
  22. I've seen that issue (ports flipping) mentioned several times, I don't remember that in any of the literature I was given when I first looked into the lapband, It IS a bump in the road, but you and the rest of us will all overcome and get over any hurdles!
  23. well there won't be any bikinis on this body... I had gallbladder surgery in November 5 incisions there, and now the lapband another 5 incisions. at least not right now..
  24. You are like me, mentally in shock, thinking oh what did I do, I didn't think this through, I can't believe I have to drink this crap all the time, Im 10 days out, 4 more days and Im off of the clear soups/protein drinks.and then the mushies. it will get better and we need to believe it, there is a world of bandster who have been where we are, they can't all be wrong? take care and welcome to the banded side.

Everytime I hear someone say focus, I think of Bart Simpson, slapping himself because he can't study so he can pass the third grade. Focus, slap, slap... not that thats what you do, lol. Its a learning experience, I have to keep reminding myself, its for the better, for all around.. I'll be healthier, perkier, sexier... FOCUS.... (this is my world) Venting our fustration is healthy for us, so vent away when ever you feel it's necessary,
