Eating On Gym Days

So I need some opinions here. On the days I go to the gym, I eat a lot more. Around 1000 calories or so. I eat almost every 2 hours...it seems and sounds like a lot! I do that because I usually burn at least 400 calories at the gym, leaving me between 600 and 700 calories. Is this the right way to do it? On days I don't go to the gym, I just stick to my 3 meals a day and eat every 4 hours. On those days, I try not to go over 800 calories. I always feel guilty for eating so much on gym days (all healthy things though...with a focus on protein). I figure if I didn't eat more, I'd probably be left with less than 400 calories for the day and that just doesn't seem right. Sooo....what do you think?

Sounds right! I eat 3 small meals and 2 snacks. Go to myfitnesspal.com - you can track your food and excercise for free and it will tell you exactly where you stand! It will probably tell you that you need more calories to lose weight so your body doens't hold onto it.

i dunno, i think maybe you are consuming too LITTLE especially on gym days. i tend to think that 800 calories is the very left on the spectrum of necessary calories for a band patient. but you know what works best for you. it looks like you're losing weight so it must be working for you. me on the other hand, i'm loosing really slowly cause i only have 1 cc in my band (no restriction AT ALL) so just enjoy that fact that you're losing and don't stress about an extra yogurt or cheese here or there or you'll drive yourself crazy and end up eating more thatn you intended

I think its important to adhere to a structure - eat about the same very day - I go to the gym after work so if I feel depleted after work before dinner I eat a handful of peanuts for an added boost I know I'll work them off anyway. Don't pay attention to how many calories you are burning as long as you don't go over your daily intake of calories and you work out to feel good it doesn't matter - I never pay attention to what I burn I watch how much time I am on a bike or elliptical and count repetitions and each time I try to raise the bar and set higher goals for myself. The calories your burn thing will make you nuts! I had surgery last August, had my first fill last week, and am down 65 pounds and counting - only about 30 more to go :-)
