  1. congrats on the hilarious story ! you might want to get some new clothes NOW, before everything falls down in a public place before you can hike them up ! can you imagine the headlines ? " local woman exposes herself in walmart parking lot, blames it on something called "lap band !!" "pictures at 11 !!" congrats !!
  2. im only 8 weeks out but i still feel the port under my skin, to the left of my belly button about the size of a quarter. liquids kept me full for the 1st 10 days or so, then my appetite started to return big time. i dont reccomend this , but i was so sick of liquids by then i mushed up some canned tuna with a little lite mayo and ate it . Heaven ! check with your dr if you are worried. better to know for sure than to worry about something . hope all goes well for you . im down 17 lbs total, feel great and getting compliments too. wait until you get your 1st nsv (non scale victory ) ,like when your pants start falling off and you have to get new ones ! youll be so glad you did this ! woo hoo !
  3. liquid stage i found that the boxed or canned chicken or beef broth was way too salty but i loved campbells chicken noodle or veg beef soup (strained), also sf jello, and sf pudding , frozen taste like ice cream ! mushy stage mushed up baked potatoes ,mmmmmm., and mushed up baked chicken no skin. tuna fish with a little lite mayo, cottage cheese , yogurt , bananas, applesauce,
  4. ive only lost 17 lbs so far ( i was banded mid dec ) and co workers have noticed and said nice things even though they see me 5 days a week. one customer who i havent seen since november saw me last week and asked if i had lost weight as my face was much thinner. that was nice, and its nice that co workers want to know why im buying such nice new clothes. im not , its just my old stuff is starting to fit ! Woo hoo !!! and no, it doesnt get old !!!
  5. i couldnt eat the liquid chicken or beef broth, it was way too salty, but i loved the broth from campbells chicken noodle soup or veg beef soup. sugar free pudding cups frozen taste just like ice cream ! sf jello and liquid tylenol because the stuff they give you is beyond nasty. keep a bottle of water and a roll of lifesavers in the car for the ride home. i had the worst cottonmouth after surgery that even ice chips couldnt get rid of. a small container in case you throw up or feel nauseous on the ride home. i was banded dec 13th, it was a breeze , i was at the hosp at 6am and out at 11am.i rested on the couch for 2 day and then was so bored by the 3rd day i went and did a little xmas shopping. down 17 lbs so far- feel great ! good luck !
  6. the only time ive had constipation problems was when i drank the protein powder that i mixed with lofat milk.. as soon as i switched to "Boost" drinks the problem went away. Good luck !
  7. i had the same problem so i gave up the powdered protein drinks and instead have a "Boost" drink in the am and then make sure i eat plenty of protein during the day. boost drinks are at walmart target and grocery stores near the instant breakfast. also somebody just mentioned that 1-2 sugar free candies will loosen you up. oh, how true ! any brand of sf candy wiil do, they have a fake sugar in them that taste really good but works like x-lax fairly quickly- ( about an hour or less ) be aware and be near a restroom ! good luck !
  8. CONGRATULATIONS !! happy for you !! remember to leave a bottle of water and some life savers in the car for the ride home . i had the worst cottonmouth after surgery . ice chips and water helped in the recovery room, but i drank alot of water once i got home and sucked on a small piece of candy cane to help get some moisture in my mouth. anyway im 8 weeks out, down 15 lbs and feel great ! ( its nice when my pants started falling off and the compliments started coming in !"you're going to be a hot mama was the funniest one !" ) good luck to you !see you on the other side !
  9. im so sorry you have to go through this ! maybe call your dr and see if you can have anything else like sugar free pudding , popsicles, diabetic foods etc ?? i was banded 8 weeks ago, down 15 lbs but i had a very easy time pre-op. dr just told me if i could lose weight before surgery , great but dont gain any ! i lost 6 lbs, 9 more after surgery. 2nd fill tomorrow. this has all been very smooth with no problems. hope the next few days go quickly for you- be thinking of you on weds ! good luck !!
  10. i want to be you ! im 8 weeks out, down only 15 lbs- 6 on pre-op, 9 since surgery. im at 209 now , going in for my 2nd fill tommorrow. im a slow loser so your story gives me hope that i will soon be in onederland someday too ! congrats , youre awesome possum !!
  11. i hope i can post a great story like yours a year from now ! im only 7 weeks banded so we'll see where im at dec 2012. best of luck to you !
  12. um, hi ............ can i ask you something ? I dont mean to be rude or disrespectful or anything , but.......... if youre loosing 1-2 lbs a week when and where is that a negative ? did i miss something ? im only 7 weeks out down 15 lbs total and consider ANY weight loss a positive !! there are others that have lost more., or less than i have in the same time ,fine, but its MY body thats getting healthier and happier, so i'll take that any way i can. do you look and feel better or worse since you were banded ? count your blessings and if you cant see this as a blessing then with all due respect "PICK UP THE CLUE PHONE, ITS FOR YOU !!!
  13. good for you for making a smart decision to get healthy !! i have had only positive comments but i also was quietly upfront about my past struggles with weight loss . when someone asks me why i got lap band i usually say the following ," well ive been struggling with a weight problem for many years now. i was on weight watchers for a year and only lost 12 lbs, great program and great people, but it simply didnt work for me no matter what i did . so, i did my research on lap band after 2 relatives did so well on it, and my dr and i both thought it was a good choice. i lost x lbs now and feel really great so far !" this usually makes people see the big picture ! it doesnt hurt that even though ive only lost 15 lbs (banded dec 13th ), im getting lots of compliments on how much thinner i look ! hope this helps ! good luck !
  14. to LIVE !, not just EXIST !!! to be healthy and happy with a strong slim build, no matter if im at 140 or 125 ( im at 209, down from 225- 6 weeks banded),to get rid of the c-pap machine, to not feel uncomfortable in a group, to some day be able to ride a horse again. to go on a week long fishing trip to Alaska summer 2013 & to be able to ride in a small plane and a fishing boat without being qverweight and unhealth and embarrased by my size........so far i have had my clothes be so loose i have to buy new ones and to find out that when i go on my long walks that i can JOG part of the way & I weigh less than my hubby-( he's 6'1- 215 lbs.) (been there done that already-yee haw ! love those NSV's ! ) hope this helps !! good luck on your journey !!
  15. good for you for taking a step towards being healthy !! im only 6 weeks banded , not diabetic at all, only 80-100 lbs overweight. if you're thinking you should be able to lose weight on your own and feel like a failure if you dont , my question to you is- would you try to fix the problem on your own if you broke your leg or couldnt see well ? you would see a dr for a cast or glasses , right ? those items are tools to be healthy and to live a normal life. nobody would think less of you , so why is the lap band any different ?? im hoping you will think of yourself as worthy of getting healthy and deserving of having a normal future with lots of good experiences. im only down 15 lbs, but it was nice when my pants started falling off and i started getting compliments, im sleeping better and i feel better too. hope you have these things happen to you too soon ! best of luck-YOU ARE SO WORTH IT !!!!
  16. im close to your size, 5'3 and was 225 lbs when i started looking at lap band last sept. i lost 6 lbs before i was banded dec 13th, and have lost 10 lbs since then. its all been a slow steady weight loss , a mild pain in my left side for the 1st 10 days, but felt fine otherwise. i know im on my way to sucess because i did my homework 1st. talk to anyone who has had it and read everything you can to make an informed decision. wait until you start getting NSV's (non scale victories) and compliments on your weight loss! you'll be so glad you got the band when some one calls you "a hot mama!!" best of luck to you !!
  17. congrats on your nsv !! do you feel like a hot mama or what ? im only down 15 lbs (banded dec 13th ) and ive been stuck at this weight for abot 3 weeks so i love it when i get a nsv. today i got 2 ! a customer who hadnt seen me since about nov said "have you lost weight ? it really shows in your face !) i hugged him ! a co-worker commented that my weight loss was really noticeable and that i looked good ! since ive only had 1 fill and wont have 1 for another 2 weeks my weight loss has stalled because im HUNGRY alot ! whats your secret to you weight loss ? PLEASE SHARE, I COULD USE SOME ADVICE ! THANKS !!
  18. take it easy and rest and walk when you can. i felt fine after 2 days of resting so i went a did some lite xmas shopping. other than the bad pulled muscle feeling on my left side, i never had any pain. im 6 weeks out, down 15 lbs including 6 lbs pre-op. now im kind of stuck at 15 for several weeks. hope all goes smoothly for you -congrats !!!
  19. ive only been banded 6 weeks, but hoping your surgery will be a breeze like mine was. i was in and out of the hosp in 5 hrs and have had no probs since. dont forget to have a bottle of water and some lifesavers in the car for the ride home. i had the worst cottonmouth all day! i was so bored 3 days after surgery i went out and did some lite xmas shopping. other than a feeling like a bad pulled muscle on my left side for a week, it was all very easy. hope yours goes as smoothly , let us know how youre doing . good luck !!
  20. im 6 weeks out and have only lost 14 lbs but i look upon it as any weight lost is good progress ! wait until you have your 1st nsv ! (non scale victory) . when my jeans were hanging off my hips and i could fit into some old clothes , that was a major "happy dance !" once you've gotten a few nice compliments you feel better. so when the scale slows down think of the nice nsv's you re getting ( Hot Mama ! was one compliment i got . what a hoot !!) best of luck !!
  21. hope all goes well for you. i was just banded mid dec, down 6 lbs in the 2 weeks before and only 8 since then, but feeling fine and looking forward to my 2nd fill jan 30th. look into getting "Boost" protein drink for another protein option. i like the taste of protein drinks but they kind of block up my insides. Boost doesnt. walmart .target and grocery stores carry it by the slim fast. also put a water bottle and some lifesavers in the car for your trip home from the hospital. i had horrible cottonmouth after surgery from the anesthesia ! took all day of drinking to get rid of it. hope your day goes as smoothly as mine did, i was in and out in 5 hrs, and breezed right through it. good luck to you, you'll wish you had done it sooner !!
  22. i was good 90% of the time and not so good the other 10%. i still lost 6 lbs and my few small cheats had no effect on my surgery. i wouldnt worry about it, i think the dr just wants you to lose weight to help your liver be smaller before surgery. call your drs office if you need to, im sure youre not the 1st person who cheated. good luck !!
  23. i love the "Boost" protein shakes that come in a small bottle , in a 6 pack for around $6.50- $7.00. walmart, target, grocery stores have them usually next to the slim fast or in the diabectic section. chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla, but i find the vanilla really too sweet.
  24. congrats !!! welcome to the other side . . walking will help with the gas and hot tea and broth for the nausea. are'nt you glad the operation is finally over.? the anticipation was what was killing me ! good luck to you !
  25. i was just banded mid december so im no expert, but i get the same exact pain in the same exact place when ive eaten too much. it seems to be my signal that i went too far, even though what i ate was healthy. i seem to remember somebody said that because your stomach is full it expands and touches a nerve , which explains the sharp pain. if somebody out there has the correct info, feel free to correct me !! i found walking around helps alot.
