  1. Does'nt that 1st compliment feel great ? I felt like I was floating on air ! When I had lost about 17 lbs I ran into an acquaintance I hadn't seen in a few months. He said "have you lost weight ? You look thinner in the face !" Ohhhhh, that just made my day !! I knew that the band and my hard work was paying off !! Congratulations !!! Trust me, those compliments will just keep happening ! good luck !!


  2. way to go ! its a great feeling when your pants start sliding off your rear end, isnt it ???? suddenly it was , i cant wear that anymore, its too big !!!! wow !!! ..............it was beyond shocking when i went frm a size 18-1x to a 16, now 14, and some 12's ! unbelievable, but it WILL happen to you too ! iwas banded Dec13th, 2011, down 55 lbs with about 30 to go. So, start shopping at Goodwill or other 2nd hand stores. i get 90% of my clothes there, shop once a week, and try to look for clothes that you will grow into this winter, not that just fit now. Then on a morning when you are standing in your underware because NOTHING fits, you can be very happy "shopping your closet" for smaller sizes. I get LOTS of compliments on my nice clothes (Im 54!) and how i look, and trust me, it never gets old !! (im happily married, get lots of support and compliments from hubby, but the first time a male aqaintance noticed my weight loss and said "girl, you are smokin !!!!" i just about wet my pants !!!! ) It will happen to you too , so keep up the good work !!   3. you hubbys attitude "that you could lose weight on your own " is ridiculous ! If that was the case there wouldnt be a billion dollar diet industry ! (yes, i said "billion dollar !") Thats like telling a diabetic that she could cure her diabetes "on her own !!" if she just ate right. Ummmmm. no. The weight doesnt always magically fall off just because you diet and exercise. Your body doesnt always cooperate. Ask the hubby if certain parts of his body have a mind of its own ! (Yeah, i said it !!) well hubby , welcome to the world of obesity !! Having a positive partner is very important, but your not obligated to change his small minded attitude. Do this for yourself ! good luck !


  4. ( sorry, i hit the send button) If you handle it this way , your supervisors will listen to your important words. If you go in yelling, bitching, or acting a drama queen thats all your supervisors will see, and will probably just blow you off to shut you up. (Nothing will get solved to YOUR satisfaction, and you'll just come across as whiny and unprofessional ) Good luck !!


  5. i think you have every right to be upset ! Who is she to be spreading around your personal medical info ? I would definetly stay on this, document EVERYTHING ! Every conversation you had with the floaters. time , date , place , witnesses . etc. You may need this info because if she talked about YOU, shes talked about OTHERS too. She has crossed some serious lines and i think she should be held accountable. But , HOW you handle this is going be the difference.Be professional, polite but firm, and stand your ground


  6. Keep the appt. The only thing you'll regret is that you didnt get banded sooner. It is sooooooo worth it ! Im down 44 lbs (started at 225, now 181 ) in 6 months, i cant believe how much better i look and feel. Ive gone from a size 18 to a 14, have lots more energy, my pants are too loose (again !) im getting lots of nice compliments, i like what i see in the mirror, im getting stronger and like seeing my belly disapear, etc.... ( Ive dealt with depression, its not pretty, all the exercise and healthier food helps alot ,............. so Keep. The. Appt !!!


  7. i found a exercise that i love , so im willing to stick with it (water fitness 3x a week). Now that ive lost some weight and also feel better, it makes me feel comfy trying new things. I have alot more energy so i tried Spinning last week. not too bad ! i didnt hate it and will give it another try this week. try differnt classes, maybe something will ring your bell. Also i was advised to look outside the local community center for other exercises. the local stables have horses, a local dance studio had dance classes, etc. I was invited to a belly dancing class, all shapes and sizes of women , but im just not into dance classes. anyway , keep an open mind when it comes to exercise. you never know ! good luck !


  8. i have a few nsv's. # 1- the other day i helped a customer in his 70's at my job, we chatted and laughed for a minute. when he left he passed my female co worker and said something to her. she came over to me a few minutes later laughing and said "That nice old man you just helped said you were quite a woman and if he was 20 yrs younger he'd go after you !" hilarious ! (Im 53 but have been told i look younger) #2 the pants i just got a few weeks ago are starting to get loose, again..........(this is getting fun, and expensive !) #3 im happily married but its still nice to have my hubby notice my weight loss and say nice things like "your butt is getting smaller !"

Im not built like you but i do carry most of my weight in my tummy too. i been doing a water fitness class 3x a week for 3 months and my pants size has gone from a size 1x to a 16, and im down 30 lbs !! Started at 225, now im 194.9 - Woo hoo !! Try those water fitness classes to trim your tummy ! good luck !


  10. i've had depression and it ain't pretty! been there , done that. when i had depression i used a product called Plus by a company called Mannatech. (Google it) check with your Dr. before taking it. All i can say is i dont know whats in that stuff, but it worked for me. it just took a layer of rage off of me (some people who have depression have alot of rages_) and it was a huge mood lifter in a healthy way. i was much calmer, less stressed,it was a lifesaver, literally i think i would of been in jail for murder. good luck to you !

Great job ! if anyone asks about your eating habits just say you have "digestive problems." and need to be careful about quality and quanity of what you eat. (true) Most people dont want to discuss the details of digestive problems so you should'nt have too many questions. Good luck at your new job !


  12. great job ! im down 25lbs in 3 months and just hit Onederland 2 days ago ! Wow ! its been 6 yrs since ive been there ! im not doing the couch to 5k program , but i found a extreme water fitness class that i attend 3-4 times a week. Not for sissies ! finding an exercise that i could stick with was key, and now im finding everything is easier from tying my shoes to walking to getting dressed. its nice when my formally too tight clothes are now too loose,and im getting compliments . when i could shimmy my pants off without unzipping them i knew i was on my way. congrats !!


  13. hey, you're entitled to rant, thats why this forum works so well. i dont have a prob with anybody asking me q about my weight loss, but its ok if you do. to each their own, and no you're not wrong for feeling like people are going too far with their ?. the problem today is nobody has a filter ! everyone thinks it's normal to ask personal ? about ANYTHING! well, its not ! it used to be people were respectful of others privacy on personal matters. well not anymore ! between the internet and nosy obnoxious reality shows (pure crap, most of them) it's all out in the open. you cant change people asking about your weight loss, so i guess you'll just have to change your response so you'll still feel comfortable. Try " I've lost weight by eating healthier and exercising (true) and I prefer to leave it at that." (Smile !) They'll get the hint, and if they dont you've still been professional and polite.   14. my experiance is very close to yours. im also banded 3.5 months (Dec 13th) , down 25 lbs, started at 225, but lost 5 lbs before surgery so now im at 199 (hit "onderland" yesterday !) i m ok being a slow loser as long as im losing something ! i thought id hit the green zone after my 3rd fill feb 27th, but it went away after a week and a half so i have my 4th fill march 24th. Exercise is 3x a week a fast moving hard working water fitness class that kicks booty ! that occasional walking are all i but it really amkes a difference ! down from size 1x or 18 to size xl or 16. my pants are falling off ! good luck to you !


  15. i am in no way trying to tell you how to respond to those people as ive only been banded 3 months. However , i would of loved to have heard of the band 10 yrs ago ! i have been struggling with a weight prob for many years, tried weight watchers with no success, and wasnt quite sure what to do. then 2 relatives had the band last june and a light bulb just went off ! i vaguely remember seeing the ads in magazines, but it wasnt until i heard from my 2 relatives that i took a closer look. well, i was banded dec 2011, down 25 lbs as of today, and wish i had known about it sooner ! i wish i had known you before , if you had let me in on the band , think what a role model you would of been to me !! for all those people who are'nt talking smack about you, but are struggling with their weight, hey, just casually mentioned that you had Lap Band and are taking control your weight and your life. I've been open and honest about being banded and have gotten 100% support, and even had 3 people consider getting banded to deal with their weight probs ! think of yourself as a great role model ! good luck !


  16. i hate to sweat and my knees and hips hurt and im overweight and out of shape, so............ you get the picture, right ? so , i started taking a water fitness class 3x a week, and walking when permitted and oh what a difference ! the warm water is heaven on my joints and fun and i dont feel like im sweating but i am getting a great workout ! as im getting looser i feel more comfy and less tight so im starting to take up yoga too. its a slow journey but my body and weight is starting to respond in a positive way. so go sign up for a water fitness class, or start walking if you can. good luck to you, and hang in there ! see you in the hot tub after class !!


  17. ive only been banded since mid december and my only regret is that i didnt do it sooner ! i hit the green zone with my 3rd fill end of Feb, im down from 225 to 203 (woo hoo !!!) looking and feelin sooooo much better, and have gone from a size 1x to an xl ! ive got lots more energy, ive give 4 bags of clothes to charity and im getting lots of nice compliments on my weight loss ! my surgery and recovery was a breeze, so follow your drs orders, find a 2-3 types of exercise that you like and can stick with and you'll love the results ! good luck !


  18. for me the 3rd fill was a big boost , finally hit the green zone ! now im not hungry all the time so im not reaching for junk or eating too much because i cant eat too much ! once i fill up on protein most of my junk cravings go away. banded 11 weeks, down 22 lbs. woohoo ! aside from that i found a couple of things to do exercise wise, that i love and stick to because i love the results. for me its walking on our nature trails and taking a water fitness class 3 times a week minimum. what a workout !! also if i do have a small treat i count it as part of my daily food intake. my dr said to treat yourself occasionly , and i do ! knowing that that frozen yogurt is waiting for me makes me stick to healthy foods 95% of the time, or try weight watchers ice cream bars. or what ever makes you happy. YOU CAN DO THIS ! Now, go try a new exercise class or something and see what you end up liking . dancing , swimming , walking, zumba, weight training volleyball ? get going !


  19. ive only been banded since dec 13th, and while im only down 22 lbs, it IS a big deal , is'nt it ? CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS !! WOO HOO !! GOOD FOR YOU !! i've had no issues either, and had my 3rd fill mon feb 27th and I FINALLY HIT THE GREEN ZONE !! what i eat for a meal now would of been a light snack before the band. what a difference ! last night i packed up 4 bags of clothes for the local charity, that was FUN !wait until you have to get new clothes because you have nothing to wear ! hope all continues to go well for you, good luck !!
