  1. Cool!! Thanks! Do you find it to have a lot of foods, or do you have to add in a lot of the foods you eat?
  2. My surgeon doesn't require a preop diet, or preop weight loss, just clear liquids the day before. We have the same surgery date, by the way!!
  3. i LOVE Isopure zero carb powder. I just ordered two 3 lb jugs in preparation for surgery. my brother in law is a Dr, and it is the one he recommends...a little high on the calories, but the nutrition facts are for 2 scoops and most of the time i use one scoop...if you do opt for 2 scoops, it is a whopping 50 grams of Protein. it is loaded with Vitamins, mixes well and tastes great! Heres a link: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/nb/lowcarb.html
  4. Hey everyone! I havent been to the group discussions lately cause I cant access it from my cell, for some reason it tells me i need a password to access, so the only time I can check in is when I am on my laptop. I am getting excited, surgery Jan 30, which is 8 days away. I am not on a preop diet, thank God. Just liquids the day before...I am even allowed a light breakfast the day before, but I think one day of liquids wont kill me! Glad to hear everyone is doing well!
  5. I had a good laugh reading this, but in actuality, I experienced this frustration first hand. I too, slept about two hours, like you, I did most of my sleep in the beginning then spent the rest of the night basically in different levels of conciousness but no sleep by any means. I had to re do my sleep study and the second one was more of the same, resulted in me leaving in tears. It was the worst experience of this entire process. I ended up being able to surpass the sleep study portion after my two failed attempts, meeting with sleep Dr, home sleep study not being covered by insurance, and basically hounding my surgeons staff for a pass on the study. It wasn't easy and I honestly don't know why I didn't give up...for someone who can't even stick to a diet...LOL.
  6. My uppergi consisted of swallowing an alka seltzer like mixture, then standing on a machine and taking a sip of thick barium, then the table rotated down so that I was now laying down...then a sip of thinner barium, then I had to roll over, taking a few pics during this whole process while holding my breath. Then it was done...took about five mins and i could see my upper gi tract the whole time, so cool.
  7. My sister (who is not overweight) took phentramine for quite a few years and she would bite anyone's head off if we looked at her wrong. Not sure how it will affect you, but being anxious and hyper, I think is a side effect.
  8. Hey, there are videos on YouTube if you search for body rock.tv you will find them, they also have a website bodyrock.tv....really good videos and diet ideas posted daily
  9. I felt the same way this week when I went for all my pre admission testing...I keep thinking of my hot future bod to get me through lol
  10. I'm scared too, surgery in 11 days. I've never had surgery and am afraid of dying. Silly, I know. The only thing that seems to snap me out of it is envisioning my new skinny body. Lol. And I try to think of the time I will actually be under, about a half hr. I tell myself its a "lunch break"
  11. Hi there! Congrats on your decision to change your life! I have told only a few family members I don't feel judged by. I will not allow myself or my weight loss to be the topic of anyone's gossip! I want people to notice im losing slowly, not wonder why I'm not losing fast enough! There have been times I have been excited about the process I wanted to share with someone else, but I stopped myself and am glad I did. You will be thrilled with this forum, lots of wonderful people here who have great tips, and many who have went over and above Drs expectationss for weight loss. Don't be discouraged when you learn that lap band patients "only lose 40-60% of their excess weight" because there is plenty of evidence here that shows otherwise!
  12. Good luck to us all! 11 days for me!!!
  13. Also, one suggestion I have would be to contact your pcp and ask for some prescriptions sleep meds. Mine gave me some, but I didn't end up needing them since my home study was cancelled. I did try of them to see how tjey would affect me and BOY was I tired!!!
  14. After two failed sleep studies (total amount slept 1.5hrs if I was lucky) I was told no sleep study, no surgery. But I met with the sleep Dr, and he had me do some breathing, take a survey, measured my neck etc. He said he woukd write my Dr a letter saying he does not believe I have sleep apnea, and I could do a home study to be sure. The home study wasn't covered by insurance so at last, my Dr has agreed to do the surgery. My problem was, i wasn't home, not.comfortable, and they tried to make me go to sleep at 9 and get up at 5 when I normally go to bed at 12-1 am and sleeeo til 8. The combined stress of knowing I had to sleep, and knowing I had only until 5 am to get some good sleep in, stressed me out and I laid there all night basically to the point where i was in tears. I know its important to find out if you have apnea before surgery, but if you have a good surgical team and an attentive anesthesia team you should be fine.
  15. I was contemplating the cheese sauce after the rave reviews, but it has to be used within two weeks of arriving, and I have surgery coming up on Jan 30 so I won't be able to eat for a while, but ill be trying it after my surgery!
  16. Check out foodfacts.com, you can enter thr food you eat and it will come up with a health score, based on multiple factors...it will also tell you the pros and cons, and they have a phone app where you can scan a barcode and get the health score. Not something we couldnt do ourselves, but pretty cool!
  17. I think one time or another in the process, we all take a step back and think, omG I'm not going to be able to do all the same things....but thats your fear talking. I may jot be able to eat white bread....ok, but ill look hot. So its ok. You have to learn how to tell that voice of fear to shut up, because you can easily find a million reasons why you can't eat better, exercise, etc. I'm the queen of excuses, but look where its gotten me. You will still enjoy food, but you will enjoy life more!
  18. Congrats!!! My date is Jan 30! I don't have a pre op diet, just clear liquids the day before.
  19. Love brussell sprouts!! I eat mine steamed with chicken broth and then use spray butter. My fave! Thanks for the recipe!
  20. Isaiah 54:17 you are in my thoughts and prayers as well Fran, it sounds like you have the will, and that, as we all know, is half the battle!
  21. If you have a hiatal hernia, you could tell them you're getting that repaired...wouldn't be a lie!
  22. congrats!! my surgery is jan 30th! does your surgeon make you do a liquid diet before surgery? as far as premixed protein, I have tried the EAS advantage carb control in chocolate, from sam's club. It's pretty good.
  23. my sisters are tiny too, im the only one in the family with a weight problem!!! sucks! This is a great thread, I was just thinking, summer will be here soon! I have a pool too, and I am sooo self conscious...i KNOW this year will have me feeling better than I have in a long time!!
  24. Love you all!!!! We can do this! I had to face this man today, and write an auto policy for his daughter...he came into the office and told a stupid story and we all made fun of him when he left. It felt good!
  25. I agree. I have only told my fiance, sisters, mom, dad, and grandmother, and ONE close friend. Wow. Guess I told more people than I thought. But I chose them because I can trust them, they will be encouraging and non judgmental. I definitely do NOT need to be under a microscope. It has been hard at times, to not tell the girls I work with in my office, at times I have been to so many appts they have asked me if I am ok. I have wanted to tell them when I have been having problems, or when I am feeling really excited. But then there are times when I am glad I haven't told anyone. Most of all, I think people are not informed about exactly what we have to go through, and think its the "easy way out"
