Anyone Taking Phentermine While On Swl?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone is taking Phentermine while on their supervised weight loss. My physician offered it to me at my last SWL visit. Since I had not lost any weight from December to January and she said I could try Phenermine. January was visit #4 out of 6 for me. I've made a lot of changes these past few months...gave up Diet Cokes (really hard by the way), making better food choices, incorporating more veggies, etc. I feel I am just stuck and can't lose a single pound. I may try it when I go back in February. Any feedback would be appreciated!!

I tried phentermine many years ago. I took it for 3 months and lost 40lbs. I gained about 60 back. I say that to say that it does help you lose weight, but you will be fine with not gaining it back since you are planning on having surgery. I do remember having frequent headaches on it as well as chest pains every now and again so please be careful. Good Luck

Crystal

My sister (who is not overweight) took phentramine for quite a few years and she would bite anyone's head off if we looked at her wrong. Not sure how it will affect you, but being anxious and hyper, I think is a side effect.

Hello Kathy Lynn,

I have taken it before my lapband and I am allowed to take it again after another month. I have had my band for only a month. in the beginning my heart felt like it raced a bit. It was not anything too serious and it got better with time. I have a ongoing problem with my thyroid and a severe Vitamin D deficiency. I felt so exhausted that my doctor prescribed it for help with energy. It also helped with appetite control. I believe it effects everyone differently. The pills are very small and easy to split if needed. Good luck with it. smile.png

I had my surgery in Feb 2011. I have had quite a few fills and currently I am filled to about 6.7. I would go about 2 to 2.5 hours before my stomach would be growling loudly so my PA put me on phentermine in October. WIth the pills I go alot further without feeling hungry. I am weaning myself off of them now to see what my weightloss for the month will be if I am not taking them daily. I would much rather my band control my hunger but she thinks I am pretty full now. I have read so many posts now with people saying they have so much more in their band than I do. I am hoping she will give me another fill in February. I would take the phentermine and give it a try.

I dont understand taking weight loss pills with the band. My Dr ask me if I was taking any type of weight loss or appetite suppresent and said absolutely to get off if I was. He also said that the anesteiests would cancell the surgery if I had taken any within so many hours of surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
