Everything Is Lining Up Perfectly...but Only One Hurdle Is Preventing Me To Go Forward (Help !!!)
I understand this is a huge step and you want to have no regrets. I totally get that, as I too, am an admitted over thinker. I did wonder which band my Dr used, and at my preop appt with him, he actually asked me if I had a preference in brand of band. I asked him what HIS preference was, because, what the heck do I know. His answer was pretty simple. He used to like the realize band, until he started having a few ppl with problems post op, and actually had to remove a few. He now only uses the lap band, but does leave it up to the patient if they are adamant about the realize band. Mind you, my surgeon has 15 yrs experience in weight loss surgery, and my surgery was done at a Center of Excellence. I do feel that I made the best choice in choosing the lap band, for all the reasons my friends listed above. For over thinkers like us, it is best to give yourself to your dr and his staff and let them take care of you. It's the only way I didn't crack up from nerves. Lol. Good luck!

How Long After Surgery...
Had surgery Jan 30. Post op appt was one week later. NP removed steri strips, gave me more pain meds, and set up my fill appt for 5 weeks. Meeting with my dietician this tues to discuss transition from puree to real food, thank God. My surgery was done at a Center of Excellence, which I believe is why they really keep on top of you with the pre surgery patient education and post op care.

Please Don't Be Happening To Me!!
This is my fear as well, I am 25. Just banded Jan 30. I have made up my mind that I have gone through with this surgery to be healthy, but if it means plastic surgery to make me FEEL good, I'm doing it! Guess i should start saving now. Good luck to you, you're doing the right thing by consistent gym going, dont get discouraged!

Anxiety Over Liver Being To Large
The liver is one of the first places to either gain or lose weight, so just keep doing what you're doing. I didn't have a preop diet, just clear liquids the day before...my surgery went great. Good luck!

Diet Advice?
I agree with Holly. 2000 calories sounds like way too high for weight loss, or even maintenance. Do you have a dietician helping you through this process? It would be better to ask this person what your caloric needs should be, rather than a program that doesn't know the whole story. Good luck!

Post Op Mrsa
Thanks guys, i really do wonder where it came from. I'm very thankful that its in my nose only, from what I can tell. I got a nasal antibiotic to apply twice daily for five days with a qtip, and I also have to use hibicleanse neck down for five days. They said they will recheck me at my fill appt on march 13. I also got a call from my pcp after surgery just wanting to see me since I had surgery, so I will make an appt with her and see if they can check then as well. I was really shocked to hear this news today, esp almost 2 weeks post op

Post Op Mrsa
Only the nasal swabs were positive, so they are prescribing antibiotic nasal swabs to use for 5 days and another round pb hibicleanse from neck to toe

Post Op Mrsa
So my drs office called to let me know that when my nasal swabs came back from me being in the hospital, they are positive for mrsa. Anyone else come across this; I am two weeks post op, and i have no symptoms.

Laughing Hurts
I am 7 days post op and the most pain I am experiencing is when I LAUGH. My fiance is always making me laugh and I have been literally begging him to stop because I am in pain...but I'm laughing so I can't get mad and/or serious. When will it end????

Im Feeling Good
Awesome! Well deserved!

Has Anyone Else Encountered This?
You will probably have to take an iron supplement. It is a common problem with bandsters who do not eat enough lean meats, leafy greens, and beans. I have not personally experienced it...yet

2 Week Pre-Op Diet Question
Amanda, can you add some unflavored protein powder to the shakes you CAN stomach, that way it would up the protein content of each drink. I've been doing that post op, since its the only was i can get in my 60g protein a day.

Emotional Mess
I didn't have a preop diet, but a week before surgery, I went from being excited to scared/nervous/freaking out. I could cry at thr drop of a hat and for any reason. I don't know ehy some things triggered that reaction in me, but be easy on yourself. It is a huge change we are going through. You could be going through detox, too. My first week post op has been a detox from all the junk unwashed eating before surgery, and has been emotional at times. Losing 15 lbs in 6 days makes up for it though! You can do it!!

3 Days Post Op...gas Go Away!
In addition to the gas pain in and around my stomach and shoulder, I have been having a burping problem! Sometimes, its a big long burp that would qualify me for a burping contest. Sometimes, it almost feels like it gets "stuck" and all of it doesn't come out...which hurts. Then, sometimes, its a burp/hiccup hybrid, and THAT really hurts. Wondering if anyone rose had the same problem!

Band Size Vs. Fills And Fullness
Sounds like you've got it all under control! What an inspiration! I was banded almost a week ago and I'm still on liquids. I can't even imagine what restriction feels like at this point!

Hospital Stay
I was required to stay overnight. The morning after my surgery, they came to my room to bring me to get an upper gi done, and I was able to see the band placement, which the Dr said was perfect I was then able to start liquids and got to leave at 330. I definitely am glad I stayed, I had a lot of fluid from the iv being pumped into me all day and night, so it was good to have a nurse there to help me get up when I needed to use the bathroom. It was also great for pain management, if I was in pain, they would add meds to my iv and I would be all set almost immediately!
