  1. Congratulations!! And I am so glad you did not give up!!!!!!
  2. Congrats!! I am scheduled for June 13th
  3. Congrats Stephanie! June is going to be a GREAT month!
  4. Welcome and congrats on your upcoming surgery!
  5. Brandi, great question. I have been wondering the same thing. Does everyone eat ever so many hours?
  6. Chamie, I haven't had to deal with "snarkiness" because my husband is the only one that knows. I'm going to take vacation from work so I won't have to tell anyone there...lol
  7. My surgery is scheduled 6-13th!
  8. Oh, and in answer to your question, I have to do a 7 day low carb, low calorie diet (1000 calories per day) for 7 days before my surgery. I am also to start taking a chewable vitamin (probably Flintstones), one Tums with Calcium tablet twice daily, and Benefiber as directed once a day. So it is not a total liquid diet. I don't have to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery. I lost a few pounds on my physician weight management program.
  9. Where is the June Bandsters Board? June is our month...woohoo!!!
  10. Congrats to you! I know you are very excited. My surgery date is June 13th and I can't wait!
  11. My nutritionist suggested I get Flintstone Vitamins when I have my surgery (June 13th). I too am over 50 (57 actually). She also keeps saying to make sure I eat my protein first. Good Luck!
  12. Mine was more like an interview. We discussed weight loss and emotional eating. Basically I think he was making sure I wasn't bulimic. He could certainly tell I wasn't anorexic...lol Anyway, it was no big deal. I have not heard of the test the others are talking about.
  13. Congratulations to you!!
  14. I had my gall bladder out back in the 80's when they cut you completely open. So I am pretty sure my lapband surgery will be a lot easier to deal with!
  15. I have not had my surgery yet, but I am suppose to get Gas-X to use after surgery.
  16. Congratulations to both of you!
  17. I don't plan on telling anyone. Currently only my husband knows of my June 13th surgery. I will probably end up telling my son and daughter-in-law but they will be sworn to secrecy. Why? I don't want the diet police talking behind my back if I eat something that they think I shouldn't. I am taking vacation for my surgery so no one at my work will know. It's not like I am embarrassed, but we all know there are those out there that will tempt us to eat things we shouldn't. But if I can say I am cutting back, eating the right foods, and exercising more without using the word DIET, they will not make such a big of it. Does this make sense? Good Luck with your surgery!
  18. I haven't had my surgery yet, but the nutritionist told me I could not drink during my meal because it would wash the food through the band and it would take longer to feel full. In that case I would eat more. The same goes with waiting for 30 minutes after the meal.
  19. Thanks for sharing Jamie. I get banded June 13th and as it gets closer I am realizing how much I munch between meals. Some healthy Snacks but of course unhealthy snacks too. I seem to do really good at work because I take my lunch and snacks with me. When I get home...loookout! Congrats on your weight loss so far! Janet
  20. I'm 5'3" and my "happy weight" will be 140, but that is at the top of the normal BMI. My goal is 130, I am 57 and it would be rediculous for me to set an unrealistic goal of say, 120 or below. I refuse to set my self up for disappointment. My surgery is scheduled for June 13th and I can't wait!
  21. Congrats! How exciting to reach your goal and you look great in your picture!
  22. Thank you all for the ideas and support! I thought some might find this a dumb question, but it has been one of those lingering questions that as now been answered. Keep up the great posts. This is a great place for information.
  23. Thanks for the replys. I'm glad I have choices. I was afraid I might not be able to order anything (not sure why I thought that). I usually take 1/2 my meal home now when I go out. I agree the portion sizes now a days is way too much food. I like fish and chicken, but will miss my steak. I will cut a small bite off my husband's steak and put it in my takehome box to try at home!
