5 Months In And Feeling Discouraged
first of all congrats on 62 lbs!! that is a great number. I agree 1cc is not much, a fill will help. I have only had one fill (5cc) and felt no restriction either. I always felt like I was white knuckling it( dieting). I just had another fill and feel much better. I have lost my weight rather slowly. I go through times when I feel this is too much work for so little loss (about a lb a week). The truth is if we were not banders, how much would we weigh and how would we feel about ourselves??? I never want to go back to being heavy, I don't want to be out of breath when I walk, I don't want my legs, knees & back to hurt. I don't want to look in the mirror and see a round woman. Go out for a walk, go try on some new clothes (don't have to buy them!) Don't forget who you used to be, she is gone. Hopefully she will never return!! Try some new foods, I am enjoying spinach like I have never enjoyed it before. I bought some edamame salad @ Whole Foods this weekend, so healthy, + good Protein. Do you go to a gym? I go to Curves and that really brightens my day. I am happy you asked for help, you are worth helping!

Hi, New To The Group
Congratulations on starting the process - I recommend you read as much as you can on this forum. Most of my questions were answered. Ask lots of questions. read as much as you can too, the web is filled with info. Once you go to a seminar you will get more information too. I don't understand what your husband is worried about? what recovery? this is a positive life change, most of us never exercised, ate whatever we wanted, had numerous medical issues, on & on.... Life will start to become easier, the sun shines more now, I am taller(in spirit), I love life again. I cannot think of any negatives. I did this for better health, looking better came along with it! Don't feel like you need to hurry the process, I had to have many doctor appt checked for my insurance. It won't happen immediately, most people have a six month time frame in which to "get everything together". try to start making changes now; start walking, log what you eat, drink lots of Water.

Crying During Preop Diet...anyone?
I am going to compare this to another time in my life where I had to make a big change. I did cry then, I had such a hard time coming to terms with the fact- not drinking alcohol ever again. As time went on I stopped looking at my whole life but one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time. this is a big change you are making. it is a change that you are making, not your family. Everyone eats and you will be smelling food forever more! start to think about the changes you are going to experience once your body changes. It will be a bigger high than the smells of the family breakfast, really it will be much better!! I try not to think only of weight loss. I have experienced a great loss of inches since I started this life. I also can exercise & walk so well now. I don't get winded, I don't feel the same aches and pains. Is all of this worth it??

Welcome! I have learned so much by reading & reading & more reading on the forum! I agree with Zinhaa; we are all different. Try not to compare your weight loss with everyone else's. We are all working on the same goal - Good Health!!

How To Bring Lap Up To My Doctor?
I started with my insurance, called to make sure it was covered. they sent paper work detailing everything I would have to do. this made the process so much easier and left no confusion for me. then I signed up for a seminar at the hospital, more paperwork given with much more info! I am very happy I got so much information, by the time I had surgery I felt like I had most questions answered! I started shadowing this site in Sept. I read & read. Learned a lot from the people who had already had the surgery.

Addicted To Sweets! Help!
Sugar is such a horrible problem. It takes several weeks to break the habit. try not to look past an hour at a time, then make it grow to a day, to a week, to a month. we sabotage ourselves by looking too far ahead. I had fought this battle so many times but I am not ready to give in to it. check out this link, maybe it will help. http://www.firstourselves.org/10-steps-to-control-sugar-cravings/

A New Beginning A New Me-5 Days Post-Op
I didn't weigh myself in the beginning. I was eating so little I didn't worry about it. My 1st doc appt. was 10 days and I had lost 5 lbs. I was thrilled! I had terrible shoulder pain too! I didn't think it would ever go away. I used a heating pad and GasX. Walking also made a big difference. I applaud you for such a long walk, it is such a great way to start exercising. I think it is the nicest part of my new life! I have dogs and they are surely loving it. Keep doing what the docs tell you, the changes will be coming soon!

Starting My Journey!

Secret Foods That Has Made Your Journey Easier?
OMG the salmon with salsa sounds soooo good !!! Can't wait to try that. I have been roasting a turkey breast every week. I baste with lo sod. chic broth. this week I wrapped it in foil for the 1st hour ( with carrots, onion and celery) it is so moist and tasty. I like to warm some with veggies, cold on a salad. I have not been bored by the taste of this meat! I love Fage yogurt too; mixed with applesauce or fresh fruit. love how much Protein I get! I have started eating sardines. I eat them on wheat thins flatbread (2 of them) great protein and good fat! I have been eating a lot of spinach lately. I love it raw in salad, steamed with protein. I just love it and by it by the lb! This is a great topic. Always looking for some new food ideas!

What Is A Hernia?
In Latin the word Hernia means "a rupture". When tissue protrudes through a structure, or a part of an organ through the muscle tissue or the membrane, that is a hernia.
-
Question Number 2
I would not do sit ups! you don't have to explain what surgery you had, just that you had surgery and doc says "not yet".
-
Not Doing Good
You are on this forum telling us about what you deem to be failure. that is so honest, I think you want to get going again. in this new life we have to be honest to have success, start again, you can do it! It is hard to stay focused on ourselves but, we must do it. We are the only one who can do it, we are worth it! I think the honesty of so many people is what I like the best here! We have all tried and tried again - for years!!! I do not want to be the grandma who can't play with the kids. I want to be healthy, both physically and mentally. We will keep going - one day at a time. Sometimes one minute at a time! You go girl, you can do it!

C25K Question And First Nsv!
glad you feel so good! congrats at the weight loss!! the doc is the boss at this stage! wait another week, you do not want to go for another surgery.

Clean Eating And Lap Band
I have tried to do that as much as I can. I have read about the sugar subs in relation to belly fat. It makes so much sense, why would we put "fake" sugar in our body? Garbage in garbage out, really pretty simple. I use a great brand of liquid vitamins and spend more, but I am worth it!
