  1. I used the gas x and walked a lot. it really was horrible but it too will pass.
  2. Welcome you are doing exactly the right thing. In the beginning I read and read. some of it I loved and some I hated, just like life. happy you are doing so well! keep coming back!
  3. GOOD FOR YOU, KEEP GOING!!
  4. found some good exercises on youtube; flabby arm exercises
  5. I have attached a nutritional listing from smoothie king; are you aware of the calories and carbs in their smoothies? we really have to investigate what we eat. http://www.smoothieking.com/smoothies/nutritional-chart.php
  6. Congrats to you, I remember how long I wore clothes that were way to big. It's hard to believe our bodies have changed!! instead of giving to the Salvation Army, check your area for places that give the clothes free. there are sooo many woman who cannot afford the prices at Goodwill or Salvation Army. I googled free clothing give away and found a place in town, sponsored and volunteer run by a suburban church.
  7. you need to measure. I have the women at Curves do it every month. I started in August. I get a printout with the measurements. I will be having it done tomorrow. last month I had already lost 41.5 inches on my body. there are times when weight loss slows but when you have had measurements done, you know things are still changing! I also think it will be a good reminder as time goes by what a big difference we have made in our lives!
  8. I have finally gotten into the habit of telling the server no extra butter, sauces etc. Man, I love Greek food!!
  9. you don't have to worry about losing weight, go ahead lose as much as you want. take a look at a BMI chart. you're short like me, we could both lose b4 surgery! it will make you feel and look good! you will have lots of doc visits b4 the surgery, a shrink visit to make sure you can handle losing weight( and are willing to make the commitment we make). It will feel like a long time getting ready but it is so worth every minute! Congrats on making a life changing decision!
  10. if you take the vitamins, you will be fine. did they mention a separate calcium citrate supplement? I had so much blood work done before the surgery so they knew exactly where I was at. I have not had any trouble with hair loss. I remember reading some posts in the beginning also, it scared me too!
  11. don't be embarrassed by logging your food. in the beginning I logged my food by hand, I started doing that in August 2011. I looked at those entries and laugh. I thought I was doing a good job with food choices! I have ventured out of my comfort range by a mile! later you will love looking at them too! the time before my surgery was so helpful, especially the chewing, chewing, and more chewing! I always have loved water so that was not a problem but, I really had to work on not drinking with meals!! by the time the surgery came it all felt like the normal way to eat! Good luck with your 6 mth. deal, enjoy all you will learn!
  12. All I can say is thank God I don't have to have the whole nation judge me! I hope she does well. Sounds like alcohol might be a problem too, this is not a surprise. we are compulsive about everything we do. hope she can beat them both!
  13. be safe count calories. we have been eating whatever, whenever, without any accountability to anyone or anything for a long time. After you get to goal, that is a different thing. At this point, I measure and weigh my food.
  14. Any of us could die in the vehicle we drive, walking across the street, choking on the food we eat, so many things "could" happen everyday! Trust that the Lord is going to be with you and you will be safe.
  15. How funny!!! Can't wait 'til I can post that!
  16. I don't understand what you just said? Is Epstein a yogurt?
  17. I have wondered the same thing! I especially hate it when there's no pic or bio information on the person. makes me think they are not real, it's a creepy voyeur feeling. this forum is an important part of my life now. I have learned so much and appreciate the support. Obviously there's nothing we can do but it's creepy.
  18. my doc wanted me to lose 10 lbs. about 5% of my body weight.
  19. My 1st advise to you is get up and start moving. I have been to shrink so much of my life - depression tries to "get" me every year. My doc always listened as I spoke of the "stuff" that made me sad, then he reminded me that physical activity really helps. You don't have to do anything strenuous, just get up and move. walk with your Ipod and some fun uplifting tunes! Give it a try, see if it helps. You are just beginning a very new way of living, let this great change happen to you! keep in touch, we are all happy to listen.
  20. are you logging your food? I agree doesn't look like enough food. body might be in starvation mode, won't let any weight loose. I start my day with some scrambled eggs( 1 egg & 2 egg whites), I add mushrooms & spinach. I try to get about 20 - 30 grams of protein in the am. I occasionally add a thin sandwich toasted. it gives me lots of energy and makes my am workout so much more productive. as the day continues I eliminate the carbs. Lunch I still add a veggie with protein. Supper mostly protein with some veggie. I try to get about 60 to 90 grams of protein each day. I don't always make it to 90 but that is the goal. I have found that I feel so much better, more energy now. I occasionally have a day where I eat some carbs that are not complex carbs. I don't want to do it very often though. my weight loss has been slow but steady. my body is firming up nicely, I am an older woman so I am thrilled with the progress I have made. As for you, this is what I do. read other peoples story and try one!
  21. You would not be lying to tell people you have decided to change you eating habits. People will be happy for you. don't worry and it's fine not to tell people. you will tell if and when you feel most comfortable!
