5 Months In And Feeling Discouraged

Recommended Posts

So I'm struggling. I feel like I have no restriction, I only have 1cc in my band and I feel like I have nothing in there. I can eat anything I want but rice and bread without any problems and very very little restriction. It's just so frustrating. I was doing so well-down 62 pounds since I started the process. I feel like I'm failing and just need some encouragement from people who have been there. I just need to know it's not just me.

first of all congrats on 62 lbs!! that is a great number. I agree 1cc is not much, a fill will help.

I have only had one fill (5cc) and felt no restriction either. I always felt like I was white knuckling it( dieting). I just had another fill and feel much better.

I have lost my weight rather slowly. I go through times when I feel this is too much work for so little loss (about a lb a week). The truth is if we were not banders, how much would we weigh and how would we feel about ourselves???

I never want to go back to being heavy, I don't want to be out of breath when I walk, I don't want my legs, knees & back to hurt. I don't want to look in the mirror and see a round woman.

Go out for a walk, go try on some new clothes (don't have to buy them!) Don't forget who you used to be, she is gone. Hopefully she will never return!!

Try some new foods, I am enjoying spinach like I have never enjoyed it before. I bought some edamame salad @ Whole Foods this weekend, so healthy, + good Protein. Do you go to a gym? I go to Curves and that really brightens my day.

I am happy you asked for help, you are worth helping!

1cc is practically nothing. Its not at all unusual to have no restriction. Call your dr and tell them that you're eating everything not nailed down and I bet they can get you in sooner :) You need a fill and you need to be firm about it. After all, they work for YOU not the other way around. You're doing great :) Keep it up

WOW! 62lbs! I also had my surgery 5 months ago and am fluctuating between 25-30lbs from my starting weight I haven't lost a single pound in about 2 months, but that's my own fault. So you are doing absolutely amazing! I've heard that if you're losing weight very quickly, they won't give you a fill.. it sounds like that must be what they've done for you. You're only a month away from your fill.. stay strong and when you get your fill, hopefully it'll help give you the needed restriction.

It's amazing you've lost as much as you have with only 1 cc. That means you've really done it all on your own! My first fill was 3 cc. and I didn't feel any restriction at all, second fill was 1.2, and still didn't really feel anything. With my last fill I have 5.5 cc. and finally have restriction! I'm not even quite three months post surgery yet.

Thank you all for your comments!! You are all so positive and kind!! :)

Well I changed my fill appointment to this Thursday and I'm going to meet with the nutritionist too. Hopefully, that will help.

I go to the gym 3-5 days a week (I have a very bad knee that sort of dictates my gym schedule). I started the couch to 5k program this week- so fingers crossed it will make a difference.

62 lbs is amazing! I'm totally jealous of that number! :D Another fill will make a big difference, I'm sure. I know some docs seem conservative about fills but I believe it's because they dont' want you coming back for constant unfills. So, good luck on Thursday and be TOTALLY proud of what you've accomplished so far!!

Hi all! I had my band fill today. Another .6 so I'm at 1.8- according to my surgeon my ban is the smallest they make. So we shall see how it goes once I'm off the liquid diets.

I'm feelin more positive (and a little more full!)

Thanks so much for your support!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
