  1. I recognize you and I think you know the drill so, I am not going to ask you the same questions. Are you saying you have lost 0 (zero) since surgery? I hope not. That does sound like a fill problem. How about losing inches, any? I have been losing about 1 lb. per week, drives me crazy!!!! I walk, exercise @ Curves, drink lotssss of water - still only 1 lb. each week. I hate how slowly the weight is coming off BUT..... the inches are great so.......for me win some lose little.
  2. we all felt the same fear & excitement, so normal!!! the food memories need to go away, they will ruin the good stuff that is coming. I don't go to any drive thrus anymore, it"s been hard but I try to bring something good for me in the car, in case I have to eat. You will get used to all of this "stuff", keep reading the post on this forum. so many good ideas and support.
  3. EXERCISE!! I've lost weight over the years but I never had an exercise plan. It really has made such a difference; physically and mentally!
  4. Congratulations!!! I am also hoping to get to 24 or close to it. It has been fun to watch the numbers go down! I have lost 47.5 inches, can't believe it.
  5. with the loss of weight it has disappeared! I had forgotten about it. I never want that pain and numbness in my heal again!
  6. does your doc know how much trouble you are having? aren't they supposed to help us with this process? the point of tightening the band is to help us eat correctly, not to stop us from eating most protein foods. you are tooooo tight! this is a lifetime change, concentrate on eating right along with losing weight. If we don't do both we will have the same trouble in a few years. I want a long lasting weight loss and health. I am sorry if this sounds bitchy but, I have a hard time reading posts where the only focus is the # of lbs. lost.
  7. I agree with Jennifer1 don't worry about weight loss yet, you need to heal! try to sip as much water as possible. the calorie intake will increase as healing happens. when you start eating again, try greek yogurt( not the fruit in it), cottage cheese, try another whey protein shake( there are so many good ones at the Vitamin Shoppe). You will also start exercising more with time and that will help weight loss too.
  8. Welcome! Read, read, read... you will find so much information on this forum. By the time you get to surgery you will feel so ready! Ask your docs lots of questions too!
  9. whatever you decide to do, start living differently. start thinking of food as a tool to live. we all lived to eat and that's not what you want. I have changed so much in the last 9 months. I went to the seminar, started counting calories, carbs & fats; exercising 3/5 X each week; investigating healthy foods. It has been the most amazing time of my life. I feel 100% better, health issues have dropped to 2 items, no more reflux, no joint pain, no exhaustion, gone is the poor self image. You have to feel this is right for you, so don't hurry the process. I am happy this has worked out so well for me. But be sure it is right for you too. I look at it as a second chance on life & health. Looking better and wearing smaller clothing is a great bonus but health is my main concern! Good luck with your decision
  10. happy, happy, happy for you!! I know how hard it was when I went to Israel two years ago. I was so worried about an clot in my legs - in the air for 11 hours!! I was so paranoid I couldn't sleep and the support stockings almost killed me (soooo tight). Looking forward to a comfortable long plane ride!
  11. seems like everyone waits 'til they get close to goal.
  12. heating pad, drugs & walking this too will pass!
  13. I love salads and eat them often. I chew and chew like everything else and have no trouble. love carrots and celery sticks( small ones). I try to always roast a turkey breast and add it to the salad. be sure to add protein, always think protein with each meal.
  14. I agree! We have to really get used to checking the labels - the whole label! the sugars are horrible!!!
  15. I have to remind myself what is real truth is. yes, I ate things that I thought tasted good BUT I couldn't walk without getting winded, I looked like a slob & my self esteem was in the bottom of a potato chips bag. I do not think the food that I thought was sooooo good is a fair tradeoff for how well I feel now! I never want to go back, it is an illusion that we are missing something. Think more clearly!
  16. Daisy I am so happy you are taking care of yourself at such a young age. You will have soooo many years of good health and joy!! Congrats!
  17. I only pray that I will continue to think this way. I never want to go back, NEVER.
  18. Do you know Rocco Dispirito? He is a chef. He has some unbelievable low fat recipes. check him out!!n these brownies are soooo good. http://www.dietsinreview.com/recipes/roccos-brownies/
  19. I occasionally add some beets because they are so good nutritionally. But they are so strong. For me the key is to add very little. Not one of my favs. I have had ulcers for many years. I read that cabbage (any cabbage family veggies) help to heal an ulcers & diverticulitis. My friend Marilou just found out that drinking the juices has healed her ulcer! I also add ginger - sparingly!! It also has great healing properties. I have purchased a book by "the juiceman", lots of recipes and information. I am really excited about doing this!
  20. are you talking about a body wrap to detox, one done by a massage therapist? I am having a wrap next week with herbs to detoxify. I am kind of excited to see what this is going to do. What Happens During A Body Wrap? Often a body wrap begins with exfoliation through dry brushing or a salt scrub. You lie down on whatever you will eventually be wrapped in – often plastic or mylar, but sometimes towels or sheets. I think it’s best when a massage therapist does the body wrap, because they naturally incorporate massage techniques as they apply the product. An esthetician, on the other hand, is not trained in massage. She is simply applying product to the skin. Or are you talking about the kind of cleansing we do when we have a medical procedure? The Doctors just answered that question on the show yesterday. They said it is a bad idea because along with cleaning out the junk you also flush away the necessary "flora" that lives in your intestines.
  21. I was thinking about her yesterday. wondering why I had not seen any posts from her. thank you for letting us know this so very sad news. She was very nice and very supportive especially to new people. Praying for peace for the family. She was definitely appreciated on this forum.
  22. change you settings on Fitnesspal.com to the calories you want. I added fiber now, just to see how much i get each day. I agree don't starve yourself. 1200- 1400 is about right. I don't always eat that much but that is the goal. my problem comes from carbs. I like to keep them low and that is hard to do! many people don't even keep track of how much they eat! I could not do that, i measure and weigh everything. Maybe that will change when I get to goal.
  23. If you eat correctly you will not have to worry about hair loss. I agree with the others, remember to eat Protein. think protein all the time, eat it first. you will not have any trouble. do you log your food each day. you must do that, lots of us use fitnesspal.com works great and you can adjust it to the calorie intake you are doing. drink lots of Water. 8 glasses each day is important. have you started an exercise program yet. walking is a good start. I go to Curves and love it. I am sure this all seems like so much to you right now. It will all become second nature to think in the key points Water, protein & exercise. Congrats to you for make this wonderful life style change! Smiles will abound!!!
