  1. I went to my seminar on 7/25/11. I was told to stay at 1200 calories, 50-80 Protein, no more than 68grms Carbs, 64 oz Water & exercise at least 3 X a week. I keep that in mind but don't usually get to 1200 anymore! I sure get the protein. I finally signed up for myfitnesspal this week. great way to keep track of your food intake. I exercise every day now, I park far from the store to walk more, it is such a change from the old me! Enjoy the ride!!!
  2. we really need to check labels don't we! this has been a fun journey, learning so much about the good and bad additives in food. it all makes a difference. a lot of those other sweetners settle in our belly causing all that belly fat that we work so hard to get rid of!
  3. you are right, lesson learned! it won't happen again though!!!!
  4. I am from Minneapolis! Welcome to the forum. sorry you went through so much, hope you can get back on track!
  5. try whey protein shakes by Jay Robb, no sucralose. they have many flavors too. GNC, Vitamin Shoppe have them
  6. clear is unfortunately just clear. have you had jello & popsicles?
  7. thank you for your honesty, it will make a big difference in your journey! you will love watching the scale go down, down, down!!!
  8. enjoy the journey, there's a lot to do before surgery. we have all survived, you will to!
  9. you have to start with him. I hope you have been reading posts on this forum, that will give you lots of info to give him. I know my husband was worried. he had heard the horror stories, but they were not gastric band stories. once I gave him some positive info he was fine. when you go to seminar make sure he is with you. you can never get enough information; they really told us a lot! good luck and keep us informed.
  10. start the process, you will know pretty quickly if it is for you. can you make the commitment, are you mentally able, and physically meeting requirements? find the best doc you can. many do the surgery but not all are reputable. you will eat after our surgery, it will be different. the trade off is soooo much better than food. there are so many good changes that you will be shocked! Best of luck, keep in touch!
  11. I think what we are seeing is fear. if they leave this site, they really lose. unfortunately, it's not weight that is lost.
  12. when I feel like I have gone astray I also start over. I cut almost all carbs, drink whey Protein shakes, lots of Water. I exercise every day, even if it's a short walk. anything will get your head in the right place again. I do this for a couple days, then slowly start a plan. I need to know what I am going to eat. being prepared will help. coming to this site often will help, honesty will help. thus far you are being very honest that will go a long way! we all want to help, really....
  13. many of us have a hernia. did not cause any problems! my hernia was huge, makes me wonder how I was able to breathe???
  14. I hate to see this. I would never trust them, never. but we are going to see this, it's a money making business. it means we need to let any new people on this site know how important it is to find the best doctor possible!
  15. I started back on my regular exercise at 5 weeks. it took a few weeks before I was exercising at full strength. I walked all the time from the 1st day. I would have really freaked if I didn't keep walking!
  16. I have had plantar fasciitis(terrible heal pain) for many years. Gone!! the usual evening swelling is gone too, I had forgotten about it!?? Oh the wonder of weight loss
  17. REST, REST, REST ..... your body will let you know when it can do more!! you just had surgery! make sure you are drinking (sipping in those first few days) lots of water.
  18. Are you taking a good vitamin? I have recently started taking a liquid vit by Nature's Plus "Source of Life Gold". I feel so good and have energy like never before! I also take a liquid calcium by a company called Tropical Oasis - tastes good and has great amt of citrate calcium. I take a 1/2 T. twice a day. my doc wants me to take 1200 mg. Dr Oz was talking about how complex carbs help with brain function and energy. maybe that would help.
  19. I weigh myself at the club. same scale, usually the same time of day; once a week.
  20. that's how my doc did it too!
  21. doesn't sound like much but in the beginning I didn't want to eat. I made myself eat and sip lots of water all day long. don't forget the water. I was worried about dehydration. the first weeks are surreal since we eat so little, before you know it you will be on full liquids. be sure to get a good whey protein powder - it will provide lots of needed protein. plus many of them taste good! Eat as much as you feel comfortable with, at this point you won't be gaining anything.
  22. people say the silliest things. Take the complement and run!!! 150 sounds great keep up the good work!
