  1. it helped me to sip on water all the time. I drank lots of broth and jello. I think the H2O helped the most. this too shall pass, hang in there! it's worth it. you definitely want to let your stomach heal, follow the docs sugguestions.
  2. I didn't get a call until Thursday, my surgery was Friday. I knew not to eat for 2 days and I was ready, yes it was weird!!!
  3. go to myfitnesspal.com start journaling your food intake. I am doing 1200 calories each day.. drink lots of water everyday, weigh yourself now and then in a week. start some kind of exercise program - walking(outside or with DVD's), join a club etc. cut sugar from your diet altogether. you will start to see loss pretty quickly. good luck, you can do it!
  4. SO, it's a new day! start out thinking differently, plan what you are going to eat. weigh and measure everything. drink, drink, drink lots of water. each day will get better if you let them. you CAN do this - ONE DAY AT A TIME!!! we are here to help, we all feel the way you have been feeling occasionally. I am not ready to go with it though and give up! you aren't either!
  5. I have tried sandwiches/wraps too but can only eat 1/2 also ! I love it....
  6. good for you, keep reading posts so you don't have too many surprises after surgery. I learned so much by what others have experienced!
  7. Shirley I saw you mention fitnesspal to so many people. I had been journaling my eating in a notebook. this is so much easier!! thanks for such a great site. I'd say it is the best thing I've done since surgery, I log everything - even the no no's. I think I am much more honest now!??
  8. wow, what a great video!! thanks for the link, I have passed it on! that was the most heartwarming story ever. I couldn't be happier for the guy from Iowa, he was reborn!
  9. oh boy you aren't a kidding. feel like I work hard everyday to remind myself that I am worth the effort! are you still able to maintain your weight loss?
  10. welcome to the group. happy for you to make this life changing decision!
  11. I just bought one too. I have always known juicing was a great idea but I was nervous about the cost of the juicer. afraid I wouldn't really stick with the program. I bought a juiceman on sale @ Target, easy to clean. a friend of mine just found out that she had lesions in her stomach(from ulcers). her acupuncture tech told her to drink cabbage to heal it. well, I have had an ulcer for a long time, used meds and tried to stay away from caffeine(mostly unsuccessfully) to help it to no avail. hopefully this will be another lifesaver for me.. my mother died of colon cancer. SOOOO obviously juicing is something I really need to do. I have been juicing veggies only thus far. I added ginger for the 1st time today. I bought a granny smith apple to add sometime soon. tastes so good! there is tons of info online and the library has many books to check out b4 buying. I am really happy this subject has come into the converstion!! thanks for the "recipes"
  12. Wow, great work! Give us your secret, that's a lot of weight in such a short time!
  13. I think it is hard for friends, especially if eating together was one of the activities you shared. they love you and don't want you to abandon them. none of us likes change. your body will change but the people you care for will stay the same. let them know this and time will take care of the rest. our friends our so important.
  14. I hope you will call the doc to be sure it's nothing.

  16. I use Jay Robb whey protein powder. it has no carbs, 25 grams of protein, and uses stevia for sweetner. great taste. I only occasionally use it now, eat most of my protein. I will have a protein shake if I know I will have carbs later in the day (out to lunch/dinner at friends).
