  1. I can attest to all of that because I was going to do it. I lost more then 60% of my weight. It's all about choices and what we choose to do. It will not come off all by its self and you have to work at it. For those that didn't and have no appetite or want food then good for you but for the most part most of us worked hard. I never cheated one day while losing and that is why I reached my goal. Patience and honesty will get you where you need to be.

  2. Jim I agree we all have those moments but no one has to post a rant about how we should not use our professions to give advise. Well I am proud of what I do and those who spend their entire day on lapband talk and have to be the first ones to post after everyone then there is something wrong with that and the same person that had to rant is guilty of the same thing.

  3. Your idea of restriction is probably not right. The band for the most part and most people will NOT stop you from eating any amount of food. It will however keep you fuller longer on less amount of food. You have to be the one to weigh your food and not eat more then a cup of food at one sitting. No more then three times a day. If you are still hungry in between then eat something low calorie.

  4. If these things bother you so much, then why make yourself more aggravated by coming here and reading it. We all have had our times and our days of people in general getting on our nerves but for the most part those of us that have been banded for a long time certainly are not going to sit back and watch other fill their guts with pizza and cake three days post op and not say anything. Some people just need a swift kick once in a while.

  5. No I dont use aspartame. I use stevia. Although I have read some things about diet and fibro I found a video a rheumatologist made on youtube that helped me understand about it more. It is dibilitating to say the least. I would not wish it on anyone for the world.

  6. You can get back on track you have to want to. You are not a failure you just gave in to food temptations. You need to soul search yourself and find out exactly why you did not succeed, what put you in that position and then start over. Start from the beginning wiht liquids. Do the whole before and after all over again. You can get to your goal but you have to want it. No one but you can do this. Its all in your mind to do it.

  7. I would never let that stop me from going on vacation. Me and my husband travel often. I just dont eat things that I know will be a problem. I dont think I have ever had a stuck episode while on vacation its when I am home I have the most. Hope you enjoyed it anyway.

  8. It often really is quite distressing when people say you're rude when in all reality they do not know you personally. I'm not pulling any punches because I did not get where I am being coddled, eating crap or puking up my guts. I got where I am because I followed the instructions given to me and continue to do so every single day give or take a few but you know where I'm coming from.

  9. You are a beautiful woman. I am sure your husband loves you no matter what. You will be the person you want to be. Right now it is easy to eat for all the wrong reasons, but in months to come you will develop a new relationship with food. Emotions before and after this surgery certainly run high as to the uncertainty that lies ahead, however there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you will become the beautiful swan you set out to be. Keep your chin up it only gets better.

  10. I think most are successful. The band does not fail people unless there is a medical reason such as a slip or erosion. People fail the band. When you dont follow instructions and doctors plans then you cant be successful.

  11. It's a very hard struggle you are going through right now but look at it this way: If you don't stay healthy for them then who will take care of both of them. At some time through out the day eat. Whether you want to or not. Your health is important for them now and not all nursing homes are bad. Im not saying to put your mother in one when your dad passes but you have to look out for yourself now more then ever because they need you. You have to know that just because your mother said she never wanted to go in one of those places, she wont remember that. Dealing with elderly parents is all of our worst struggles at middle age and doing what is best for them while trying to do what is best for us. I hope you find some kind of peace in your life to do what you think is right. No matter what you still have to take care of you.

  12. Just keep doing what you are doing. You might want to eat something with more protein in it at breakfast. I never do good with carbs for breakfast. If you can eat eggs then do it if not then eat the greek yogurt for breakfast. Remember protein burns fat so the more you eat the more you will lose.
