How Many Carbs After Gastric Sleeve Surgery ?
I am 18 days post op and haven't lost any weight for about 10 or 11 days. I know my protein and calories are right where they should be, I use myfitnesspal to track it. But where should I be on carbs? There's nothing in my paperwork to say how many carbs I should be getting and I have no clue.

Someone Chime In / Respond Please
Hi, I'm 42 and had surgery on Nov. 4th. I started out at 257 and now I'm 233, I'm 5'7". I notice some of the sweetness issues others are talking about but not too much. I seem to be losing very slow, I haven't seen the scale move for 11 days and it's very frustrating. I know it's gotta move soon. No sickness for me, I've been very lucky about that and I can eat lots of different stuff. Send me a message any time and I'll help if I can even if it's just for encouragement.

14 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Op, Bored With Protein Shakes, Extremely Fatigued
I'm 13 days post of and I've never been so exhausted in my whole life. I'm only gettinga about 400 calories and maybe 20-25 grams of protein. It's getting a little better and cottage cheese is my new best friend.

worried that i am not getting all i need.....
I'm 10 days post op and everything has gone down and stayed down well. But I worry that I'm not getting enough calories or protein. I can eat about 1/4 cup at a time and I know I'm not drinking enough but I can't seem to get more liquid in. It gets a little better each day but it is scary.

If I had to choose just one soup... this would be it.
That looks amazing. I'm only 10 days post op and can't wait to make it. Thanks.

Coordinators
I used alighterme.com for Dr. Kelly and I had no problems. They were great about answering all my questions and Dr. Kelly is awesome. It was worth every penny, and believe me I had to scrimp to get them. I had no pain and no complications. I couldn't believe I even had surgery. If it wasn't for the incisions I wouldn't have known I'd had anything done. I feel great and they were great to work with.

Give up my coke addiction?!
Giving up Diet coke was the hardest for me. I waited until the 3 day pre op of clear liguids. I'm 9 days post op and haven't even craved one yet. I'm sure I will before long but after surgery you are so focused on getting in the water that you don't even think about it. I say enjoy it as long as you can but cut back for sure to avoid the caffeine withdrawal.

Driving after surgery
I had surgery on a Friday in Mexico and when I got home on Tuesday night I drove home from my dads where I had left my car and was driving every day. As long as you aren't on pain meds you will be fine.

Any Other Gastric Sleeve Pre-op's Heading To Tijuana?
I just got back on Tuesday. My surgery was with Dr. Kelly and it went great. I was shopping and walking all over the day I got out of the hospital. It was the best decision of my life. Good luck to you.

On my way again.I hope

Dr Kelly
I just got home yesterday from surgery with Dr. Kelly and I can't say enough good things. He had a really long day before my surgery day and still found time to come to my room twice to talk to me. His son drove me to the other hospital for my leak test and his wife came to the hotel to change my bandages and give me my meds. Then she made several trips in her car to take 8 of us shopping and shopped with us. The whole family was great.

5 days post op
Dr. Kelly has a nutritionist that came to the hotel and went over stuff with us. He gave me his card and said I could call anytime with any questions. They were all very helpful and there was always someone at the hospital that spoke English. It was a great experience.

5 days post op
I had my surgery last Friday, the 4th, in Mexico with Dr. Kelly. I woke up feeling sick to my stomach but never threw up. I was alert and had no pain at all. I was up walking around within a couple of hours and felt great. I've had no problems swallowing or drinking at all. I'm still nervous about taking big sips so I just take it slow. The day I left the hospital and went to the hotel, there were several others who had surgery the day before me and wanted to go shopping. Dr. Kelly's wife took turns giving us rides to the shopping area. I had just left the hospital and walked for blocks and blocks shopping and felt great. If it wasn't for the incisions, I wouldn't have known I'd had anything done. I walked about a mile or so the next day to an Applebee's for my dad and daughter to eat. We took a cab back to the hotel but I still felt good. I'm home today and still on liquids. I've had very little to eat and just a couple bites of jello or broth fills me up. I am amazed at how great I feel and I think Dr. Kelly is awesome. I would recommend him to anyone thinking of having this done, especially if you are self pay. The hospital was clean and safe and the staff was very nice. The Hotel Lucerna was 4 star and again the staff was very nice. No buyers remorse for me, I'm loving my decision.

Looking for a Sleeve Buddy going to Mexico Alone
My surgery with Dr. Kelly is on the 4th. Look forward to meeting you there.

Time to shop?
I will be there on the 3rd getting all my tests done that day and surgery on the 4th with Dr. Kelly. I was wondering the same thing. My daughter is wanting to do some shopping if possible and I don't know what's in the area. I'm sure I will see you either in the hospital or the hotel. Man, it's getting close.

Parents Anti-Mexico = Added Stress
Hey don't forget your sleeve buddy. I will be there with you going through the same thing. My boyfriend was the same way and he has finally come around. He is still worried but trusts that I picked a good doctor and did my research. Your parents love you and worry about you. They grew up in a different era and don't take chances like we do even though we know it's for the best. They will be so happy for you when they see the weight coming off.

Best Protein ??
I used to sell Herbalife and I think they are the best so since my pre op diet starts tomorrow I renewed my license so I could get the discount. Their Protein chicken Soup and Protein Drink mix is sooo good. They also have a vanilla Protein Powder that you can add to lots of things. But by far their shake mixes are the best I've ever tried.

Tomorrow is my Surgery day - Yeah
Hope everything went well and you are comfortably recovering. I am 2 weeks away from mine and very excited. Speedy recovery to you.

Self-Pay VSG
Every insurance company is different. I am self pay in Mexico in a couple of weeks. I have BC/BS and they said they would cover a doctors visit as long as it didn't say follow up from the surgery on the bill. They said dr.s generally give very vague billing details and so things tend to get paid but if I went to the hospital for a complication the billing would be very detailed and when they discovered it was from a non covered surgery, they would probably not pay for it.

Pre Gastric Sleeve Op Liquid Diet: 13 Days To Go. Why Do I Have To Do It For So Long?
I see a lot of different pre and post op diets on here. Mine is also 2 weeks. 7 days of 2 protein shakes a day with chicken and veggies for dinner, then 4 days of just shakes (3 or 4 a day), then 3 days of clear liquids. I start it next Friday. It does seem like a long time to me but if it makes the surgery and recovery easier it will be worth it. I see some only have a week pre op or none at all and don't understand why.

who did you tell?
I've told my family and pretty much all my friends and co-workers. I'm an open book and I don't keep things quiet. But that's just me and how my family is. We never keep a secret about anything. My whole family is big and mostly all diabetics plus I have scoliosis, curvature of the spine. So people that know me know I want to be healthy and eliminate some of the back pain.

Today is THE day
Prayers your way. Good luck.

support system changing
I don't know if it gets better aferwards but I am going through the same thing with my boyfriend. He is dead set against this surgery and the fact that I'm going to Mexico to have it done. He refuses to go with me. We don't live together so I just don't talk about it alot any more. I'm really on the fence about breaking up because I feel like there's no future for us if he can't be by my side when I need him the most. He also has the fear of being left when I lose the weight but he doesn't know it may happen sooner if he doesn't get on board. I need someone supportive or I don't need anyone at all. Hope yours comes around because mine is being stubborn to the end.

Amazing peanut butter...45 calories!
Hy-Vee sells it in the organic section of the store. Some stores have chocolate PB2 as well.
