  1. Nope, never considered a procedure with a malabsorption component for that reason. Plus, rerouting the intestines would be my last resort. I thought I could definitely do a restriction only procedure.
  2. 60g here. I normally have to have at least 1 shake a day to hit it.
  3. Good luck! I really hope you don't get the bat wings. For me, even when I was a kid I had really heavy arms and as I lose weight, they may lose fat but the skin is just sooooo stretched. I know I am going to need an arm lift.
  4. That's awesome. I am so happy for you. If I could just get the scale to budge 1 lb, I would be ecstatic!!!
  5. Yesterday, was my six month surgiversary from my surgery on September 1, 2011. I can’t believe how much has changed in six months. I am in a loose size 12 jeans. I can fit into 10s, but I am not ready to purchase another pair so soon. I started my journey at my highest weight of 271 and lost 41 lbs before surgery. I can’t believe I have gone from 230 lbs to 169.8 lbs, 60.2 lbs in 6 months! That is an average of 10 lbs a month! I may not be the fastest loser, but I know I will get to my goal of 120 lbs. Less than 50 lbs to go! I will definitely say don’t get discouraged if the scale is not moving as fast as you want. Keep to the plan. I don’t exercise as much as I should, but I am still losing. I live low carb, trying to keep my carbs under 40g per day. It works for me and my boyfriend who has lost 18 lbs since I have started my journey. I am so proud of him. I won’t say it is all a bed roses though. I definitely have loose skin issues that will not be going away, so I am considering plastics in the future after I start maintenance. I am 22, but I was morbidly obese for more than half of my life. I have learned this is not easy. It requires me to make food plans each day to make sure I am getting my Vitamins and the Protein I need. Following your surgeon’s guidelines is really important to lose weight and make sure you are getting your nutrients. I will and have totally recommended this surgery. My mother had her VSG on November 3, 2011 and is doing great! This surgery will change your life.
  6. Breathe, it happens. I have been stuck at 169.8 almost 3 weeks. I was stuck at 200.8 for 3 weeks. Some of us lose, in a staircase fashion. It doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong, just that your body doesn't like letting go for a bit. Step away from the scale and just follow the plan. I know it can be frustrating, but the scale will move again. I promise!
  7. I <3 <3 <3 me some Jimmy John's
  8. Yeah, I am the same way. If I keep my carbs too low, I stall out for a bit. If I keep them 30g to 40g everything is pretty smooth. Everyone's body is different.
  9. Truth, don't rush the sleeve. Hope you feel better soon.
  10. That's great! You are just kicking butt, lady.
  11. Of course, people have been approved without the 6MSWL. HOWEVER, that is because their plan did not require it of them. You have to speak with your insurance in regards to what they have to receive in order to approve you. I did a 6MSWL starting in February of 2011 and I finished August 2011. I was approved. You can get through this, but definitely find out what your insurance requires.
  12. You look great! Congrats on the awesome weight loss.
  13. Oh lady, I am so sorry you got this news, but I have no doubt in my mind you can fight this. Good luck, please keep us posted.
  14. That's just simply amazing! I am so happy for you. Congrats!
  15. It is whatever you will be happy at. I am 5'3" and my goal is 120 lbs. I have a small frame, and I think that will be a good weight for me. However, I am not adverse to stopping wherever I feel happy.
  16. I like the celebrate 18mg iron with vitamin c. It is tasty and my iron has been great!
  17. That's awesome. I can't believe what a change you have been through. Thank you for sharing your amazing success!
  18. Thank you, Jay. Exactly, I forget about the different shopping centers around the country, lol. I think Sam's Club carries the little packs of veggies too. Also, yes, Paleo is without dairy, but I modified this recipe for my kitchen and tastes. I love cheese, and it adds yumminess and Protein. I am sure if you wanted to save on calories though you could also remove the cheese. It would still be delicious I am sure.
  19. I do RTD Premier protein shakes in chocolate. I LOVE them. They taste just like chocolate with no after taste.
  20. To keep things lively and low carb in the kitchen, I have been experimenting. eggs will always be a love of mine, and as I was scanning the interweb I found a Paleo Fajita Frittata recipe. It looked delicious. I would have definitely loved to try some fresh peppers and onions in this recipe but it wasn't what I had on hand so I modified it a bit for my budget and pantry. It turned out delicious! 1 bag of moe's seasoned fajita veggies (3 in a package at BJ's for less than 5 dollars) 16 oz of round eye steak (Flank steak would probably work even better) 2 tbs chili powder 1 tbs cumin 2 tsp cayenne pepper (I might have added more, I like things HOT!) 2 pinches of pepper 10 eggs 1 cup of finely shredded mexican blend cheese First, grease the pan with a no calorie olive oil spray and set the oven to 350 degrees. Cut the round eye steak into cubes. Add your spices, and stir until spices are well mixed. Don't cook the meat through. Add frozen vegetables. Cook until softened, and cook the meat until desired color. Add cooked meat and vegetables to a 9x9 circular casserole dish. Scramble eggs. Add to casserole dish. Place in the preheated oven. Let cook for 20 minutes. For the next 10 minutes place on broil. Remove dish. Sprinkle cheese. Place back in for two minutes or until cheese is melty. Serve and enjoy! P.S. This is SUPER easy to make and really yummy says the boyfriend. Also, it has ridiculous amounts of Protein. I set the servings to 8, but I couldn't even finish a whole slice. However, it still calculates pretty high even if you finish 80% of said slice. :smile1: Fajita Frittata.bmp
  21. I am so happy for you, Leah. It has been awesome being able to be a part of your journey and see how you have transformed. YOU ROCK, LADY!
  22. I am 5'3" and at 178 right now. I almost ALWAYS stall out for 2 or 3 weeks. That is just how I lose. Don't give up hope, the scale will move again. You are doing the right things, just stay on track!
  23. I do paleo every so often because it goes right along with low carb, and there are some FABULOUS recipes. I don't think I could completely give up dairy though, same problem with veganism for me when I was a vegetarian.
  24. Any tips for someone trying to eat more? I can't seem to get over the 800 calorie threshold.
