5 1/2 Months Out And Stalled!

Recommended Posts

hi guys! i have been a slow loser thoughout this whole journey, but, i am feeling discouraged. I have been stalled for over a month, i got back on track after the holidays and have gone to the gym basically every day for the last 3 weeks and I have been gaining and losing and gaining the same 2 lbs. my dr. put me on a low dose birth control 3 weeks ago and im afraid that might have somthing to do with it too! im getting frustrated. i feel like this is it for me. i am able to eat quite a bit more than i used to. i am still doing mainly low carb. i have slipped up here and there but not all the time. my calories are probably in the 1200ish range. ugh, i dont know why the scale isnt moving. i have been doing crazy cardio and some circuit traing and abs. my waist hasnt shrunk. is a stall commen at this point? please tell me the scale keeps going down after 51/2 months! thanks, i needed to vent

I am almost 6 months out too and I dont think its the end for us. When I cranked up my cardio and going to the gym in November, I stalled too. It got frustrating. I finally started losing again in December. I think our bodies have to stop and think about what we are doing when we change up our routine like that. You will have a drop soon and then you will plateau again. My surgeon said it would happen for longer periods of time and more often the further out we are but its not going to stop unless you stop obeying the rules. Protein first and exercise! Hang in there! It will drop again soon!

Hi Emma, are you logging your food or daily intake? This might really help you find the culprit in your stall. Also, when your stalled (which you are, it's been 3 weeks now) it could be your body is just learning to cope with your daily routine. You might find success with changing things up a bit.

Do a new eating routine, go even lower with carbs or lower your calorie intake for a few days. I never stayed at the exact same calories or same workouts for more than a few days at a time. It always kept my body guessing and really, I never had a true stall unless you count right now. However, I'm not really *trying* to lose either anymore, so I'm fine with it.

I have some eating plans that might work for you, here is a link you might find interesting. Basics Bootcamp

Also, one last thing, how much Water are you getting in a day? I always tell people this is the biggest secret to my success. Tons of water! :smile1: You'll figure it out. You don't have to stop unless you believe you can't or your won't. *hugs*

thanks, i needed to hear that. Your right! I am feeling good about what I have lost so far, but, im not done. I know they say its a tool, the sleeve, but, i guess i didnt realize how much work it is to get where i want to be. I have learned alot and definately working at it, but, its alot of work. and when I dont see any movment I get upset to be honest because I didnt lose as fast as I would have hoped or started exercise sooner. I am dedicated! I just cant help but feel like a failure when I dont lose or feeling like my body is telling me that I will never be thin!

My story is almost exactly the same! I was sleeved 8/15/11 and have lost 57 lbs since then but nothing at all since the beginning of January. I have been running, walking, lifting weights and other exercise 3-5 times a week, tracking my food - getting in 70-100 g Protein a day, keeping my calories around 1000 and drinking tons of water/diet snapple. I wake up every day and hope that I have dropped a bit but have stalled out at 184 as my lowest and then up and down a lb or so from there. I am falling into a bit of a depression this week because I worry that I am done losing. My goal is 140 - I am 5'3" so actually 140 is the very top of the normal bmi range for me. Dr's goal is 125. Don't really want to call my surgeon's office since she told me that I might get to 190 and that would be considered a success. I also have PCOS - not sure if that plays into this at all. I wish I had a crystal ball to see what is ahead so I wouldn't stress so much about it. This week I even have been trying to do Protein Shakes instead of Breakfast & lunch but still haven't seen a difference... :(

I am 5'3" and at 178 right now. I almost ALWAYS stall out for 2 or 3 weeks. That is just how I lose. Don't give up hope, the scale will move again. You are doing the right things, just stay on track!

Hey broadwaybaby! We really do have the same situation! LOL! I have PCOS too! I went to a support meeting with my friend who is having the surgery and it helped! I still use this site as my main support group, but, it was nice to be around others who had the surgery. well, i was the only sleeve! But, it was nice to hear about gastric bypass issues too! It made me feel less alone in my struggles and made me feel refocused i guess. Like going back to square one. Thats funny you mentioned going back to Protein Shakes, I did too! I didnt have my coffee this morning, I had a shake!!! LOL! Good luck!!!

Well I'm so glad that I'm not alone ... Lol

I was sleeved on 8/30/11. My start weight was 225 and I am now 160. I am 5'6" and my goal weight is 137. I use My Fitness Pal and believe it or not - I have not cheated once since my surgery. I have not gone over 600 cal a day ( my doctors orders) and my Protein is at 70 and carbs are unde 20 a day and that is from veggies and salad. I have not had even a crumb of bread or a cracker. I work out 5 times a week for 1 hour a day sometimes more. I stalled at 160 lbs 3 weeks ago BUT I go up 2 lbs one day and back down 2 lbs the next ! I can't get past the 160 mark and I am getting really depressed about it. I have less than 25 lbs to go and feel like I am going to fail :-(

I'm Praying to God that this is not the end......

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
