Tofu! Who knew??
Isn't it yummy? I used to love using my firm tofu with bbq sauce. I have to admit I couldn't let go of the sauce even when I was a vegetarian. I would press the tofu out on some paper towels and get rid of the moisture, and then I would baste it with bbq, bake it for about an hour or so in the oven on 350, and put it on a sandwich. You can do pretty much any thing with tofu. it absorbs flavors, try it with a couple of salad dressing and there ya go. Yummy tofu! It is also great in stir frys, but I don't know if you are doing veggies right now.

List of High Protein Foods
Ooh, thank you, this is a really great list!
-
Greek Yogurt
I love it as sour cream. I actually don't have much of a sweet tooth so it really appeals to me, but you might try adding some flavored protein powders or adding a little SF syrup to make it taste better.

Insurance - DENIED!!!
Don't give up hope, Eureka-C! Oh wow, prairiedawn that is great! I am glad to hear good things are happening for you. I have UHC and I am terrified of getting through all the hoops they have and not getting approved. Your positive attitude is inspiring.

Psych Eval today!!
You can do it! No joke, Foxbins has it right on the money. Just stay calm, and I am positive you will do fine. Do not unnecessarily stress yourself!

What are your makeover plans?
Wow, this topic got me thinking, and kind of hopeful even though I haven't had surgery yet,so I want to see how my skin rebounds before any decisions to nip and tuck. However, I know I will want a boob job. I have never had boobs that could make it past my tummy, and I am pretty sure that they won't last through the weight loss. Also, a totally new wardrobe. I would love to be able to wear the cute clothes I see in stores walking around the mall, and that would just be amazing.

Insurance wait is half way over!
Lol, I totally understand. Ever since I joined I was reading, searching, and even more reading. Both you and I will already have tons of information available when we have questions, and we already know who we can turn to. Only three more months! I keep looking at my ticker, and it gives me hope it will be my turn eventually. Aw, I am sorry that you don't have people in your life being supportive, but everyone on this forum is rooting for you and will be there if you need them. Oh, I totally understand the lifelong weight issues. I was obese before I even knew what the word was, and I have been dieting since my early preteens. I am doing this surgery for me and future health. I do not want to wait until I have the diabetes, heart disease, and health issues that run in my family hit me. I want to get healthy. Just keep up the positive energy, and if nothing else, there is always Mexico.

APPROVED!!!!
Hm, that is kind of tricky. I have not received a clear answer from my case manager either, and I have been a little nervous about that. Mine only says I have to complete a "6-month physician supervised weight loss program." Thank you, and again congratulations on the great news!

APPROVED!!!!
Congrats! Wow, I am glad to hear UHC approved you so quickly. That is a little weight off my mind. Can I ask what happened with your six month weight loss?

Insurance wait is half way over!
I am right there with ya, Doug. And it will go by faster than either you or I think. The forum here is super welcoming, so don't be afraid to ask questions. You can just start searching through the forums for what you want to find. I especially recommend looking through the Post-Op and Pre-Op forums for food and information about the surgery. Also, look up Tiffykins for some good resources. Um, I don't think many come on here who haven't been where we are at and who haven't been yo-yo dieting for most of his or her life. Just read the stories and read the profiles, and you will see.

FINALLY MADE IT TO ONEDERLAND!!!

It's the Little Things...
I know EXACTLY how you feel. The boyfriend and family try to be supportive, but they just don't understand the kick I get when I find new ways to tweak my recipes, make my protein shakes more tasty, and such. I love this forum, and thank everyone on here for being a part of what makes it so special.
