  1. Awesome news for you..and happy birthday a day late
  2. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
  3. I'd say it's very likely that most all of us have had that feeling. When I became hungry I would sip on chicken broth or strained thin soups. Something about savory foods that settled my hunger pang. It'll get easier..congrats to you!
  4. It's so sad that physical abuse is grounds for a divorce but it's ok for a man (or a woman) to abuse the heck out of someone mentally and people think you should work through it,,work it out..I mean that's just crazy. I would rather be hit upside the head than to be beaten down mentally. I'm so thankful I have a very supportive husband. I'm so sorry for you ladies who are going through this.
  5. I think I would still recommend a hotel.
  6. You can make homemade chicken or beef broth. Kroger has a low sodium and fat free broths as well as Swanson, Campbells and numerous others.
  7. I would highly recommend a hotel Congrats on your date! The only advice I can offer is use the search and you can find lists to help you pack, lists of things to purchase that you'll have ready for after surgery. I bought soups..mostly broths and veggie type soups I could strain, popsicles, sf pudding, protein shakes (take it easy on the protein shakes because your taste will likely change and you'd be stuck with a powder you're not going to drink) and sf jello. After your surgery, walk and get in your fluids! Good luck!
  8. Might want to have your sugar and bp checked..just in case. Are you getting your fluids in? You don't want to get dehydrated.
  9. That's fascinating! I'll have to look into that! Does insurance pay for something like that?
  10. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can calm my husband from being so upset. He went through the whole leak ordeal with me now he's coping with the fact I have a stricture. He knows a lady (unrelated to sleeve surgery) that passed away due to a stricture in her esophagus and had to have it stretched. She had complications and bled to death so he's really worried and kinda has me more scared than I was. What can I say to him to rest his mind? I'm really stressing out over all this. I've really tried to keep from posting yet another negative story of my trials but I don't have anyone to turn to.
  11. I'm so so sorry you are going through this. I had a leak so I know what you're going through. Feel free to send me a personal message if you want to talk about it. If you're only a week out, sounds like they caught it pretty early and the fact they are giving you liquids and might send you to a regular room is a real good sign.
  12. Oh I wasn't directing that at you,,just to everyone (anyone) in general This is your post,,sorry I didn't mean to come off preachy.
  13. Sounds like a great plan..good going
  14. Oh the vicious cycle of paper work. If you can do anything on your own, do it..take and deliver. You must be so frustrated! I'm sorry this has happened to you..I hope things clear up so you can get the ball rolling.
  15. I just want to add, I was totally informed going into surgery. It's not something to take lightly and should be thoroughly investigated and researched. I went to 2 seminars, lurked these forums for a year, asked numerous questions, surfed the net for extended amounts of time reading journals, articles, etc. I knew the risks that were involved. When I was told I had a leak and a stricture, I knew what they were. If anyone has a regret, it should be not educating themselves about the sleeve before they go under the knife. I'll also add again, even though I have gone through what I have,,I still love my sleeve and would do it again. I could've never lost 70 pounds (and continue to lose) on my own. I struggled with my weight my whole life and it needed to stop. I have alot of health problems and they were only getting worse. If you are thinking of having surgery out of the simple fact to look pretty or to be skinnier than your friends or maybe just to wear cute clothes,,that's great but just be prepared for the life change you will need to make. Surgery isn't an easy way out,,don't expect it to be so easy either. It's hard work.
  16. Thank you I have alot of medical issues, not sure if they will cause other complications..I have to just take it one step at a time and trust my doctor. I will have an EGD and they will decide from that where I need to go from there.
  17. umm,,2 things..leak and stricture..I just want to be normal like everyone else but things keep going wrong. I don't really regret the surgery, it's working so I can't complain.
  18. I have dysphagia (due to mg) and gerd (therefore suspecting that's the problem) but when they did the upper gi,,they compared those films with the films I had back in January when I had my leak and apparently there was a significant difference. I don't mean to concern or scare anyone,, I think we all have some degree of swallowing and digesting issues due to our new stomachs..this is just a fluke..not sure why this has happened. It's not the first time I have had a more uncommon side effect due to a procedure, med,,etc. I'm not normal.lol
  19. Did I say "sticked to the plan"?lol OMG....
  20. I told my doctor at my 3 month visit that I was feeling like something was getting stuck and I'd sometimes have food come back up,,not vomit (sorry tmi). I also had trouble with swallowing,,which I have myasthenia gravis which causes muscle weakness and swallowing is a big issue for myasthenics so we thought it was due to that. I saw my neurologist and they changed up my meds. But I just kept feeling the same feelings so I told them (bariatric doc) that I was still having the swallowing issues,,feeling like something was stuck and sometimes food coming up..I even thought it was just normal that maybe I was overeating or eating too fast which I do sometimes,,not on purpose. So they ordered an upper gi,,I just heard the results today and they said there was a stricture,,a slight tightening at the opening of the stomach and doc wanted to do an EGD. I'm sure he wants to see everything up close and personal and decide if I need the balloon treatment,,which is the next step. This is not related to me leak..I've had a swallowing problem for several years due to mg but this seperate issue just over the past few months. Sorry,,I'm so not good at explaining things.lol
  21. I think he's going to balloon it open. I knew something was going on but really thought it was unrelated to my sleeve. Well, it is what it is but I'll survive.
  22. My weight bounced around this week,,I was down to 226 at one point but then 229.4 this morning so I gained a pound. I had sticked to the plan except for yesterday at my husbands family reunion,,I was a bad girl So much good food and I ate tiny amounts but grazed throughout the day,,that'll get ya in trouble! So don't make the same mistake I did and think 1 day won't hurt,,cause it did.
  23. Thanks Lissa,,,I know,,it's been crazy. I think it'll be ok and I still don't have any regrets. I'd never lose 70 pounds so fast and easy.
  24. The way it was explained to me, a stricture is a narrowing area of the stomach,,mine is at the top where food enters the stomach. Food kept getting "hung up" and I'd get an uncomfortable feeling and sometimes food would come back up..I thought I was either eating too much or it was the the lack of muscle from myasthenia gravis (an autoimmune disease I have) causing trouble swallowing. I think you might be thinking of restriction. That's the ability to eat less,,not stricture. Hope I explained it ok.
  25. I have a stricture. I can't believe after almost 7 months I'm just finding this out. Explains why things always go down so slow but I thought it was myasthenia gravis. I'm waiting on the call for an EGD.
