  1. Thank goodness I had no trouble tolerating the liquid protein drinks. I really liked them and that made recovery so much easier.
  2. Thanks Susan. I would imagine they are really unhappy at LBT. That chatroom is always really full!
  3. I haven't tried to get into the chat room lately. My laptop isn't working right now because my internet provider was having some sort of problem. They aren't coming to fix it until Friday. I am at my DD at the moment! I have gotten too used to chatting and not having to sit at my desk in the wrong room. I hardly use that computer anymore.
  4. I'd trade for a few warm days. It's always in the 60's here on the Oregon coast. Welcome Steve! You have come to the right place!
  5. I am loving my sleeve. It's so much easier to live with than the band. We all still have to make good food choices, but that is one of the things I find easier with the sleeve. Good food choices, in small portions!
  6. You should email nina and she will email you back a nice explanatory email telling you everything you need to know. It has what to bring to the hospital, what to buy to have on hand afterward, etc.
  7. That's great Susan. I am happy for you. I haven't lost much from surgery because I was quick to get sleeved as soon as I started gaining. That never happens to me because of that. I know how good it feels though when people do notice, and I am happy for you that you got that NSV today!
  8. Mini bypass is a different surgery that most surgeons won't do. The vertical sleeve is sometimes the first step to a duodenal switch, although a lot of people get great weight loss with just the sleeve and don't get the DO
  9. Welcome Manatee. Mac gave you some good links. Just think, with the sleeve, you never have to worry about another fill or unfil, being too tight or too loose. You just have a small stomach that works like a band is supposed to.
  10. Get your vit. D level checked. There is a link under the Vitamin section of the board. If you have low vit D. it caues sugar cravings. I just got mine back. I have been taking extra since I found that out and mine is still low. I have to take even more. Besides that, stick to no snacking in between meals. When I force myself to do that, I do so much better.
  11. Yes, I know I am very lucky that I only have to work part time. I start work at 1:00 so it's not a big deal for me to get up in the am and go straight to the gym. If I had to be at a job at 8am, honestly, I don't know how I would fit gym time in. I am a lazy butt when I get home from work.
  12. That's what I would do too. Call the doctor and tell them the Nexium isn't helping. I know they say the stomach makes as much acid as it did before surgery until it realizes it doesn't need to make as much.
  13. Oh how scary to be all alone with problems. I am glad you told us about her. Count me in to keep her in my prayers.
  14. I was successful at eating solids for lunch. I was very proud of myself. I had chicken. I chewed it really well, and took little bites. Then I waited about 10 min to see if anything bad was going to happen. After that, I had 3 more bites and a couple bites of broccoli. I finally had a meal without causing myself pain or spending the next couple of hours spitting out mouthfuls of gunk.
  15. My brother lives in Chicago and is a big ol pot head. He's a good guy, but lacks motivation , surprise surprise. He did work his butt off cleaning out my dad's apartment, after I had my dairy queen treat and spent the evening in the bathroom. I told him it was from nerves of everything I had gone through the past few days. I just talked to a realtor, and he's going to go by tomorrow and check everything out. I am thinking I may get it ready and rent it out for the winter to snow birds. That way, the house would be available for me when I want to go there in the summer. The heat doesn't really bother me that much, if I could get the place to pay for itself until the market improves.
  16. I just made giong to the gym a habit . I get dressed in the morning for the gym and if anything comes up and I can't go, I am irritated by it.
  17. I used to have that a hic up when I was banded. That seems to be my problem now. I have no signal. I have to guess how much to eat. Sometimes I guess wrong and then am either in a lot of pain or I am doing that watery mouth thing. I am getting better at it though.
  18. I tried all the places in the phone book over there that said they would buy estates. They were not at all interested in any of my dad's stuff. They said they buy antiques. The best one lady would do was to rent me all her tables so we would have a sale ourselves. That was when I moved my dad into assisted living. Now I have his furniture back in the house that he took to assisted living, plus what furniture didn't sell when we had our sale.
  19. I finally got a call from the airlines and they gave me a credit for my airline ticket. That means when I have to go back to Arizona when the weather cools off, I will have one less thing to worry about. I wish I knew what to do with all his stuff. I so don't want to have another garage sale. I hope I can sell the furniture on Craigs list. Then I could donate the rest of the stuff and put the house on the market.

My bf gave me the gaudiest ugliest earings for valentines day this past year. They are big pink hearts with xoxoxo all over them. I looked at them and thought "what could you possibly have been thinking" they look like he got them at he dollar store, but he said he got them at Hallmarks. I think they are acutally for children. Luckily, it's the thought that counts.
  21. I go the gym most days. Wednesdays and Sat. mornings I do a class called Group Power. It's working out with weights to music and l love that class. We work every muscle group. Tuesdays I am on my own with free weights and machines then 45 min of cardio . I use the elliptikill, the stair master, and the treadmill. Sometimes I do 20 min on each one. It depends on how early I am able to drag myself out of bed. If I am running late, I do my weights and then 30 min on the elliptikill and 15 min alternating between jogging and walking fast on an incline on the treadmill. Thurs . is the same routine. Wed and Sat after my group power class, I do some cardio with those same machines, again it depends on what else I have going on as to how much time I have for cardio. Monday nights after work I walk 4 miles around this lake that has some big hills. Sundays I usally go hiking with friends but sometimes I go to the gym in the mornings too. That's pretty much my work out routine!
  22. Where did you post pictures?
  23. I had that problem and it turned out my esophagus was very dilated. It turned out that I was using my esophagus for a stomach. I had my band removed and had a revision surgery to a sleeve and I am so much happier. I can only eat small portions of any food I want and I am FULL.
  24. I had my band taken out in April and I could not be happier. I love my sleeve. I feel so much more normal now. No more food getting stuck, no more fills , no more unfills, no more worrying that I took my medication too late and that it would come back up in the middle of the night. I just eat small portions of any food I want, just like the band was SUPPOSED to work!
  25. too bad if it goes away over time. It definitely makes me want to be very careful of eating sugar. Went to a family function yesterday and had dessert and was miserable for hours afterwards.
