How VSG changed your tastes!
I kept reading that it was a possibility, but until now at 8 months I had not thought of anything that changed. Then it hit me, I have been avoiding the Chinese restaurant my husband loves to go to. I just absolutely can not bring myself to go there. There is not one thing on the menu I can think of I would want to eat. I used LOVE sweet and sour, egg rolls and Mushu. Now when I think of those foods I simply go EWWWWWWWWWWWW! Please let me know what others can't stand now!

How come I'm so nervous???
There is no way to fail the sleeve unless you do something like eat Mcdonalds shakes 8 times a day and have Ice Cream on top it! You have made the decision to have major surgery and I and that is a huge hump to get over. Once you go through the coming weeks you will commit your mind to health. You will see you did not go through all this to put a bad thing in your mouth! I strongly suggest support groups, in person at the 2 to 4 week mark. More than anything I believe your fears( we all had them in one form or another) is your subconscious expressing fear of change. You will do fine tomorrow and in the coming months! Congrats!

Low carb/no carb alternative to fav foods?
I bought some Dreamfields and they worked for me like regular Pasta and the appealing thing to me is that you can buy them most anywhere at a regular price. I as so looking forward some real spaghetti and sadly, even at 8 months Noodles do not work for my sleeve, no rice, no breads. It is like instant FULL for me and uncomfortable! No I made the cauliflower pizza and that gave me the italian sauce fix I so badly desired!

Being Critical of My Body
I too have issues when not clothed As far as the arms go,, I started working them out like crazy with push ups, hand weights and yoga. No they are not perfect but then look a damn sight better than they did! They look fine when down and I figure how often do I lift them? At the beginning of summer I kept looking at clothes and thinking I cant wear that, I can't wear that, I can't wear that. The one day I said SCREW it! I did not go through this process to continue to be ashamed of me! Now I wear sleeveless shirts all the time!

Desperate for support from my Husband to have VSG
First off, weather or not you have surgery. YOU ARE STILL LOSING WEIGHT ON YOUR OWN! It is a tool, how many times in his sports has he used aids that make his game better or a splint or brace? With that said, my husband has never been against the surgery, but he has never been the least bit supportive. Now even if he was against it, it would not have stopped me, I am too head strong and IT IS MY BODY to do what I want with. I think he more scared of you changing then dying and he projects on the procedure itsself. Chances of dying are really low, and while it is a major surgery, it also a very basic procedure and a fast one.

Tommorow is the big day!
You will be fine,,, I was two weeks clear liquids and protien shakes. Your strength comes from within!

Give me A typical day of eating!!!!!
Untill recently, without fail my day would start with a Preimeir protien shake! In the last couple months they are no longer attractive. I get up 5 to 530 , normally for the first 7 months I would get up and have a protien shake first thing after weighing in. Then for a snack I would have a greek yogurt around 930am,,, still do without fail! For lunch it is chicken, Chicken and more chicken, usually left over from the night before. (look up 1001 and ways to prepare chicken). Sometimes, not very often I would have a second yogurt. Now almost never. dinner is usually more chicken of some type. Sound boring right,,, but believe me after time you will stop caring what you eat Just as long as you put some food in there, it is no longer and important thing. (making high protien, lean choices are). Stock up on things like beef Jerky, turkey sauasage bites, baby bell cheese ect. Protien and Calcium and your Vitamins are your best friends! Oh and water!

Those with over 100 pounds lost - did you lose your bat wings??
Not entirely, but they look better the more I work my arms. (Yoga, hand weights and push ups off a table or such) Now you really only see them when I pick my arms up totally.

how does ur tummy act when u eat too much?
The doc said the talking thing is forever. I when I swallow anything, it talks, it has learned to whisper in the recent months as compared to new tummy. Not at 8 months when I eat too much it starts to rocking and rolling. I feel rhythmical rolls of it trying to squeeze food downward. ( Not pleasant) I find no rhymn nor reason to it, but some days I can eat, and eat I do,, all 4 oz then days like today,,, lucky to get a few bites in, and actually want them. With that said I find it very reassuring,,, knowing I can't stuff my self into fatness anymore:)

Should I rent a recliner

The Easy Way Out
You could get her in a lot of trouble for her statements to you. She is paid to scan, not preach. With that said, is she worth it? There are different kinds of overweight.. Those of us who have been overweight since childhood, those of us who have been overweight for years, those of who are gained weight as we age,,, ect. It boils down to this.............................. We know what we need to make the WL happen! There is nothing easy about this journey, we have to make and cope with huge changes in addition to having most of our stomachs removed and the discomfort of that. We have to learn all new body cues post surgery. We have to take on exercise we formally did not do. SCREW the all knowing, negative nellies! WE are the BRAVE ones for being willing to take control of ourselves and we need only answer to OURSELVES!

What do you take for a sinus infection???
Unless you have other physical conditions you should be free to take what you need post op.
-
Only a 1 day pre-op diet???
I think it boils down to this. Some doc want to prep you both mentally and physically for the post op strain of not being able to eat much, Some docs just go by the absolute physician requirements for the surgery to take place.

How to fix a mistake?
it is OK to let go of the food! I found the need to save food replaced the need to eat it in the beginning.
-
I went out to eat for the first time since surgery = SUCCESS!
You will find things go down different at different times. Like 2 days ago I could only eat maybe an ounce of steak, but tonight I put down 2 oz of talapia, an ear of corn and some green beans!

I'm OVERWEIGHT!!! WooHOO!
WHAT A GREAT DAY!

Evil Rice Evil Pasta Evil Bread
Here I am at 8 months and I am still not able to do rice and NO bread especially bad!
-
Stressing over....an EGG!
Scrambled! with a tad bit of ketchup! was the best damn thing in 4 weeks:)
-
sooooooooo sad
While I am sure you are disappointed, please do not give up on the surgery, to do so would be giving up on yourself. Now I cannot see any logical doctor not letting you re weigh. A bottle of water weighs a half pound and if you had just drank before going in or it is getting to be your tom then 1/2 pound is just water weight. Surely they would half to have based their decision on something more. Show them how bad you want this, start calling and logically explaining why you think they should not postpone your surgery!

Drain removal and first weigh in...
It is like 15 seconds, if that fast! You will find such a sense of relief! The drain is EVIL and must GO!

I'm scared!
Ok you guys, let me begin this by saying this is the single best thing I have ever done for me! No I did not go to Mexico, but looking back, if I had to do that to make it happen I would! I have gone from 271 POUNDS to 158! I feel soo much better physically! I am riding in Bike marathons and walking daily, with ease I might ad and feeling well, I can not describe the feeling when I have completed 35 miles on the bike or while on the bike or when I plug my earphones in and take that brisk walk for 2 hours! Or when I finish Total body Conditioning at the YMCA or when someone tells how great I look or what and inspiration I am to them! Despite all this it boils down to YOU. Your sub conscious is playing with you, well maybe I could diet one more time and really do it this time,, that thought is safe and comfortable. REALITY: You have a life time of failed diets! You need a tool that will allow you to succeed!
-
OMG...this diet is horrible
Ok, so this pre op is simply a means to and end! How bad do you want the end? The end being the surgery and subsequent weight loss and health! This is what you keep in the front of your mind when you feel you are struggling and feeling bad! Just imagine 100 lbs from now,, this will all be worth it! Go Sister GO!
