  6. My mind is playing mean tricks on me! For some reason, I can't seem to get enough water in & my mind makes me think that my throat has gotten smaller. I also still make my food plates the same size they used to be & I waste lots of food. AND I never know when I'm full or satisfied. I stop eating when I feel like the food may come up. I'm at a loss. My will power keeps me on track, but this mind of mine doesn't seem to want to catch up to the changes. Will this ever change?
  7. I was taking liquid Vicodin. In all honesty, I was never in any real bad pain. I experienced subtle aches & minor discomfort. Your surgeon may not be too far off base with the example he gave. You'll be fine! Congrats!
  8. Thanks Italianlady13! I'm not by any means a perfectionist. It's just that I've failed so many times before over the last 26 years, & when I feel this way, my pattern has been to fall off. But I do hear what you're saying & I appreciate your honesty as well. I pray for the day that those foods don't do it for me anymore. Thanks again! You really opened my eyes a bit more.
  9. I feel like I'm about to sabatoge my success. I've had such a piss-poor attitude lately. I suffer from a multitude of setbacks. I experience the following: I don't eat enough food daily I don't get the Protein, Water & Vitamins in as advised I experience nausea almost everyday I've vomitted at least 5 times in the last 18 days & I still don't know why:I I SUCK at chewing thoroughly & sipping my drinks I can never tell if I'm full I wish I could still have all the foods I used to eat before VSG Protein shakes make me wanna puke now I absolutely HATE having to wait 30 minutes to drink in between Snacks or meals My taste buds flip-flop everyday I would rather not eat at all if I can't eat properly The thought of never having mexican food, pancakes, or a hamburger & fries makes me sad I'm not sure what's going on with me. These emotions just started pouring out within the last 5 days. How can I get over the saddness of leaving my old eating habits behind, when I can't embrace the blessing and new lease on life that I've been given with the VSG? I'm afraid that my success with VSG won't be as good if I re-visit any of the old foods I used to enjoy. Any & all suggestions/feedback will be greatly appreciated.
  10. So tomorrow I will be 2 weeks out!! On day 10 I went for my 1st post-op & I'd lost 14lbs!! Woo hoo!! However, I'm still on mushy foods & I'm running out of options. So far, my diet consist of the following staples: Protein shakes, sugar free pudding, mashed potatoes, Wendy's chili, eggs, grits, string cheese, Soups, tuna fish, blackend/pan-fried (only a little olive oil, no flour) fish and lean ground beef patties. That's it...literally. Is there anyone out there that can suggest other foods? I'm trying to avoid the 'woe is me' attitude but everytime I try to add something new, I end up running back to something on my staples list. C'mon people...give me what ya got!! Thanks!! Hugs!!
  11. Hey there friend!! Let's not get discouraged! I mean after all, your words of encouragement helped me so much to make the right choice for me! I agree with our fellow sleevers that say your body is just trying to adjust. Make sure that you are eating your required amount of protein, calories and take your vitamins as well. Don't worry..be happy...because one thing is for sure....you will NEVER be where you were before, so keep hope alive & we'll get there...together!! Hugs!!
  12. I think that's really cool!! I'm still sleeping with mine, but hopefully within a few months, I'll be returning it as well. Congrats on your NSV!!
  13. Thanks you guys! I now appreciate my pain meds & since I'm just one day from soft solids (my 1wk post op appt is Friday), so I'm keeping the sipping at a slow & steady pace. I appreciate y'all more than words can express!! Hugs!!
  14. Thanks! Can't wait until I have some of those to share!
  15. I don't know what I'd do without it! But I have a question: what's NSV? Don't laugh at me!
  16. So I'm finally sleeved! My husband finally came around in the 11th hour like most of you said he would (huge smile). But now, learning to sip, sip, sip is about to make me flip, flip, flip! Getting used to the sipping wouldn't be as bad if the ache as liquids go down weren't so annoying. I keep feeling like every time I swallow, a gas bubble has to pass. I used to love cold beverages, but now only warm broth, hot tea & popsicles are what I prefer. *Did I mention that sipping is a real pain in my rear?* So after only 4 days out, what do you guys suggest? I hate taking the liquid pain medicine because it knocks me out; however, my upper belly is sore without it (which makes it hard for me to get comfy). Help me fellow sleevers!! Help!!
  17. Tomorrow is my big day & I'm so excited!! I finally told my husband yesterday & although he's still upset, I have peace of mind!! September 27, 2011 will be my Independence Day!! For those of you that believe in prayer, please say one for me; that I will come out of surgery successful, have a long healthy life ahead & be surrounded by my loved ones!! This is my prayer for each of you as well. As one of our fellow sleevers told me, "See you on the healthy/skinny side!!" Peace & blessings!!
  18. I'm super excited about being sleeved on Tuesday!! All I can do is invision myself healthier, happier & living a longer life. For those of you that remember my hubby was not supportive at all, well....he still not..LOL!! He doesn't even know that I've been scheduled yet!! I plan to tell him tomorrow after church... But it's okay, because NOW I am more convinced than ever before that this is for the best & most importantly, it's FOR ME!! Thanks to everyone who gave me wonderful words of wisdom & encouragment; it helped me more than I could ever express. I'm off to the grocery store to stock up on goodies for week 1's liquid diet & week 2's soft solids!! Have a great day everyone!! Be blessed!! I sure am!! Woo hoo!!!!
