    My goal outfit is/was . . .

Well that's certainly creative lol. I don't actually have a goal outfit. My goal weight is 180 pounds (it'd be nice if I can get smaller, but I set my goal while trying to be realistic) so I was trying to remember what size I was when I WAS 180 pounds (this was 20 years ago... when I was all of 13) and I think I was a 16, so I was originally thinking I'd probably settle in a 16 or MAYBE 14, but I fit into a 14 in jeans NOW and I'm 196 pounds right now so still 16 pounds away from my goal weight, so now I'm thinking my weight will probably settle me in a 12. Unless I somehow lose more weight than I expect. But I don't know... only lost two pounds last month, but this month has made up for it as I've lost 5 pounds this month. It'd be amazing if I could get down to 175 or even 170. But I'd be fine to settle in the 180's too. I used to be 389 pounds just two years ago. I NEVER in my life thought I'd ever see myself get under 300 much less under 200. It's surreal to be in the 100's for the first time in 20 years, but I'm loving it and am so proud of myself! Congrats on the beginning of your journey and I wish you the best! You can do it!

I have clear visions of what I want to wear! The world better not let me lose weight before the sun comes out because I barely wear clothes as it is 😂

    Goooaaaallll! With skin pics 😲

Congratulations! You look amazing. I was shocked when I scrolled down to the pictures after reading your description. You look WAY better than you give yourself credit for. I am seriously jealous of how LITTLE loose skin you have. You could totally pull off a miniskirt right now with no plastic surgery.

    Scared I'm recovering too fast...

I had surgery Jan 20th ... have been consistently losing a pound every 1-2 days. Started at 280 at the two week pre-op (Jan 6th) and am now at 237 ... My calorie intake has crept up (500-600 up to ~1000 now) as we experiment with eating out a bit. We love Mexican food ... I order refried beans and sometimes a tamale but only eat about 1/3-1/2 of it. I think portion size is the key and I love that my new stomach very much vehemently tells me when I'm full! Hang in there. Slow and steady wins the race after all. If you maintain at less than 1000 calories/day you WILL continue to drop pounds.

    Taste Changes

Besides your taste buds changing so too may your sense of smell. So don’t be surprised if the smell of some things turn your stomach too. No idea why it happens but it does pass. I love my vegetables but for a good month or two I could only tolerate steamed cabbage & cauliflower. Was so glad when I could enjoy them again. I also couldn’t stand anything sweet but that was likely because I cut it out of my diet wherever I could. No loss there I still avoid sugar, artificial sweeteners & sugar alternatives as much as possible. The restrictive diet you’re on pre & post surgery can change how sweet or high fat foods taste to you. The thing is not to start eating them again so your desire & enjoyment of them is not reinvigorated.

    Sick of Liquid Diet

Worst two weeks for me were post op liquid. I didn't cheat, but I wanted to. Hang in there. The coming months will be great.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's reasonable to be disappointed and hurt by the reaction and words you describe. People are full of opinions, but no one knows your health or what it has been like to be in your shoes better than you. I used a lot of my time with a pre-op therapist to untangle and work through the way others perceive WLS and may judge me for it. I have been surprised how helpful working with a therapist has been on the relationship side of WLS. One of the conclusions I have come to is that I don't owe anyone an explanation and I don't have to take on making them more comfortable with the idea of me having WLS. Another thing that came out of it is I have decided (at least for now) to have a very small circle of people that know I am having this surgery. Everything I have to work with to be on this path feels like a lot already and hearing the input and opinions of other people (especially when they are not educated in WLS) just feels like more than I want to take on at the moment. Sending you good thoughts!

7 weeks out and doing great, but I still fear the worst. I expect it all to stop. Lol. I will continue to do what they tell me. When I'm down 100, hopefully I'll believe. Lol

    1st month stall?

Follow your diet and you'll resume your excellent weight loss soon. It is science. Your calorie deficit will result in weight loss. Just be sure to get all your protein so your body won't consume muscle. Here are some things I ate during that stage: eggs, melted low fat cheese or string cheese, mashed potatoes, bananas, peanut butter, applesauce, lean ground meats like turkey, and cooked carrots. Homemade slow cooker turkey chili was a daily staple for a while.
