    4 days post op

Coming on to my fourth day post op after having sleeve surgery done on 2/18/20. Curious as to a few things. I’m not very hungry at all until I overthink it, I am a very tall large younger man and my suggested intake of protein just seems unrealistic. I have only been able to drink at tops 2 protein shakes for a total of 60 grams of protein. I’m doing my best to stay hydrated but I can’t only drink one ounce at a time, is that rule ok to be broken I feel like an ounce doesn’t even coat my mouth before swallowing. My incision sites have all been healing pretty well but the largest one the skin around it is turning black and blue as if it was bruised. Is that normal or did that happen to anyone else? My stomach feels sore especially in that one spot otherwise not too bad seems to be getting slightly better day by day. one final thing....when will I go the bathroom? I have a ton of gas but havnt had the call to go. thank you so much, amazing to find a community like this and be on this journey with you all. thank you, Michael

    Struggling with preop diet

You can do this!! It's mind over matter. We don't have much longer to go! Pretty much half way there. It's just food, and fat, it doesn't control you anymore. Tell yourself that everytime. Feel yourself already being stronger. It's a new you, the old you who would eat that is gone, there is no looking back.

    Robotic sleeve surgery

My surgery was robotically assisted. I was thrilled when I found out - more “arms” able to work, better visibility by the doctor, and let’s face it, human arms are pretty dang fallible. Everything went great - no complications. The first week post-op was rough, but that’s just because it’s major surgery.

    Food doesn’t taste right

This is solid advice. Totally agree. I have a thing with certain foods where, for instance, if I eat tuna and find a bone or scale - it's no tuna for like 6 months at least. I eventually try again (hope for the best!). Definitely try foods cooked different ways, but if you just can't palate it right now, try again later! I'm still pre-op (for the next 2 days) but it's a fear of mine I hope not to have to encounter. Good luck 👍

    4 weeks post RNY today

Today is 4 weeks post RNY surgery for me. - Down 16.8 lbs. I've had a couple of times where my weight has stayed stable for more than 5 days in that 4 weeks (including now). Still watching to see if a pattern emerges and trying to take it in stride (not always successfully). - No issues with liquids at all (yay!). I have been getting between 80 and 100 most days. - Eating up to 4 oz at a time. I haven't tried for more except with greek yogurt (I eat the whole container of the Oikos triple zero which is just over 5 oz). - On soft foods for the last 2 weeks and so far I've tolerated everything I've tried (eggs, Tuna, Ricotta bake, lunchmeat, etc...). I had chicken for the first time today (canned and made into chicken salad) and that went down well. - I can get my protein in but only if I do a couple of shakes (or max a premier out by adding some collagen). - Walking daily up to 1 mile. I go back to work on Thursday (I was VERY fortunate to take a full month off). I also plan on starting back with my rowing machine in addition to the walking. All in all I am extremely happy with how I've healed so far. I'm looking forward to continuing the journey. I have a lot of work ahead of me to get to a healthy weight but I am hopeful.

    Monk Fruit

I've tried the monk fruit granulated powder. I can't say it's my favorite, to me it does have an aftertaste, but it's tolerable. FYI, the agave sweetners are still high in fructose and carbs.
