Excited but nervous! I will be having a revision from the sleeve to the Loop/SIPS. My surgeon will be removing my gall bladder, fixing my hernia and then doing the Loop DS. Has anyone had all 3 of these done together? It just seems like so much! Thanks! 😊

I had to lose 5% of my body weight to qualify for the surgery.

    Annoyed by doctors office staff

Hi Guys. This is my first post. I am a teacher and I was hoping to get the procedure done prior to the new school year starting. I last met with my doctor 3 weeks ago and the staff at the office has yet to pull everything together and send it off to carefirst for approval. Excuses of everything from the fax machine being down to not having reports from specialist yet. Be gone as far as calling those specialists and offering hand pick up and deliver what3er documents. Heres the question. Once you received approval, how soon were you able to schedule your surgery day for? I have to go back to work right after Labor Day so I know I’m pushing it. Thanks, Kenny.

    Weight loss in feet

How dramatic, or unhealthy can weight loss in feet be? I am just 4 months post-op and lost 39% excess weight (based on BMI) and I have noticed me feet are slightly more slender, and a "bump" on my right foot (below that artery) is no longer annoying me so much I skip the shoe lace hole for long walks. I am still the same shoe size, just my feet seem slightly less "bulky." More importantly, I noticed what appears to be some potential loose skin developing on the outside bases on both my "pinky" toes. Does this become a problem down the road? I know about loose skin, but loose skin in feet would seem like more of a problem. I have always had athlete foot problems, so this concerns me if it gets "worse." No, but have seen a few. They said it's less invasive and less down time. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes, some insurance companies have strict requirements. No gain during 6 months supervised nutrition appointments. Must be 41 bmi with no comorbidities or 35-40 with comorbidities. Some have required FIVE years of failed documented weight loss records. So yes, I would have resorted to whatever means needed to qualify. People have lost below the required weight but put rolls of quarters in their pockets or ankle weights under their slacks to qualify.

So angry at dr office staff

I agree, I have been contacting them daily. I am a cash patient. I feel that they are just pushing me thru. Just really nervous. My insurance has a bariatric exclusion. I know if I went through insurance every thing would be checked.

    Over eating/binge eating

It is difficult. @LCamacho83 my sincere condolences to you. I can relate as I have experienced loss of my mother as a child and my aunt and uncle in adult life. I can tell you that my weight gain as a child and young adult contributed alot from the loss of my mother. My aunt and uncle raised me after she passed. To cope with loss, my uncle would often take me out to eat or treat me to a very unhealthy diet. You can see where I am going with this.... It wasn't until after their deaths, that I needed to go talk to someone. Therapy HELPS IMMENSELY! I haven't gone back since I've had my son July 2016 but I KNOW I need to. I need to do it for myself. No one else! I wish you well on your journey! If you get off track, there are always people to pick you up! You just have to look for them! Good Luck

I'm a bit concerned about this myself. I was told at the beginning (in January) that I really needed to lose 10% of my excess body weight during the six-month supervised diet - which was about 10-15 pounds. I ended up losing 40 pounds thus far - which means I started the pre-op diet, that I'm on now, at 40.1 bmi. The pre-op liquid diet will drop me below 40, and there isn't anything I can do about it. My next surgeon's office appt. is tomorrow, and if they try to weigh me, I'm going to have to have a conversation with them.
