I have finally finished the program for gastric bypass. I started the multi disciplinary program on Jan 22 and finished on June 1st. I would have finished sooner if I didn’t test positive for H pylori in April. I was told I’ll get a call this week with a date (if everything goes well and they don’t need anything else for me) Anyone want to share how long it took to get a surgery date after completion of their program? And how far out the surgery was/is? My surgeon is Dr Hess at Boston Medical Center.

8 months after gastric sleeve surgery

@joannaspanner Things that folks need to know to answer this question for you: Are you still tracking your food/Protein/Etc? How many calories are you consuming? Are you still tracking your water intake? How much water are you consuming? Are you exercising? How often? How much? Cardio only or Cardio and Weight lifting? Somethings to consider. As we lose weight and get older, our BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) decreases. BMR is the amount of calories you need to exist, think in a coma, alive but not moving. You can check yours here https://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/bmr As we get older and lose weight we need less calories, which means we need to either exercise more, or consume less. If you aren't tracking... start tracking again. The math is pretty simple, If you burn more calories than you consume, you'll lose weight. Water intake, our bodies cannot process fat if we don't have enough water to do so. So if you aren't tracking your water or aren't getting 64-128oz of water, start tracking and increase. Daily movement at work etc is great, but it's not really enough for weight loss, you should be in the gym at least an hour a day. And that brings me to muscle mass. Larger muscles burn more calories than smaller ones, so if you build some muscle, you will burn more calories the rest of the day than you would without larger muscles.

Thanks for the encouragement. It really is a small world isn't it? Sadly over the years and with construction the beach at Mullins is almost non existent Its such a pity as I remember it being one of the best beaches on the Island in my 20's. If you come here again, give me a shout

Had the sleeve 5/2 and like many others I had a stall around week 3-4 where I would fluctuate each day up or down less than a half of a pound. Finally started losing again and am down 18.8 lbs. in 5 weeks and 5 days. Added to the 15 I lost on the preop that is a total of 38.8 in 7 weeks and 5 days. I am not losing as fast as many but I am 60 years old!!! I am so happy with the process, enjoying my daily exercise and looking forward to starting solids on Wednesday. The one thing that has helped me is to increase my water intake to about 80 oz per day in addition to crystal light, SF popsicles and coffee. I am done with the popsicles after the current box is gone since the 8-12 carbs per day are not needed.

That's perfectly fine to drink the shake in 30 minutes. The swelling in your stomach has gone down and allows the liquid to pass right through. However, you now have absolutely no excuse not to get your water in every day! You won't really start feeling restriction until you start eating soft foods That's also when you start being able to feel "full". One tip for the hunger: Sugar-free jello, DON'T CHEW IT WELL! It will be slippery enough to get into your stomach all right, but it will take your stomach a while to break it down, so you feel full for a while. The little ready-to-eat cup is the perfect size! Good luck! p.s. In my area, bariatric support meetings are open to everyone, even if you didn't have surgery at their facility. Maybe you can find one near you?

Yeah I didn’t add sugar free popsicles I’ve had a few of those and tolerated! I haven’t taken pain meds since the day I left the hospital I just don’t like the way they make me feel! I did however, just eat some tomato soup and so far so good as far as tolerating it!! I do move (what the doctor considers enough) even through the pain! It’s so hard to explain thank you

I get the molded cups from cacique, they are the only thing that seems to work for me. Only down side is they are $50 a pop.
