    I got sleeved today!

Yes! There were some downsides today. I had to wait 5 and a half hours to actually get into surgery. But one I was there, ummm I don’t know! I was gone and remember nothing! I was told I woke up almost immediately. I was VERY NAUSEOUS and in great pain. Suzy, my very nice anesthesia nurse immediately gave me something for the nausea and then Demerol (two in a row) for the pain. Then it was off to my room. My mom met me and helped me out until about 7pm when I told her to head home. She’ll be back around 1 tomorrow to wait for me to be discharged. At 11 tomorrow morning I have a meeting with the 5 other people who had WLS here today. We can share hints and the nurse coordinator will answer any questions or concerns. It will be nice having other people to bounce ideas off of since I’m definitely not yet all here. Got dinner of unsweetened tea, water, jello and broth. Managed to get 1/2 the broth down in a couple hours and now I’m working on that jello. I’m walking as much as I can, hoping to decrease the crazy gas pain. Right now it’s in my back and I do have a back injury so those 2 bad boys might be working together to cause me agony. I’ve done 16 laps of my hospital floor since waking up around 3. One lap, one tiny sip of water. Or a tiny bite of jello. Then another lap. But here’s the best news! My surgery went so smoothly, my surgeon was able to complete it with only 4 incisions instead of 5! I tend to scar easily, so this was great news for me. But I guess to do it he blew extra gas in there so I’m paying for it too. Hopefully I’ll get a pain med soon and then a able to sleep at least a tiny bit. See you guys in the morning! How do people going about dark sad feelings when doing the gastric bypass diet when you have zero friends or family who support you? I've been having this problem and it has been a struggle. I feel very alone and when I'm lonely and sad I want to eat but I know I cannot emotional eat. On top of that my wls surgery is May 15th so I cannot afford to do that. I feel like I've been feeling a million emotions at once. It's very hard for me these few weeks between not being able to eat much, only liking water and ice and it hurts to swallow due to my bad allergies, I'm just miserable! I just feel like I wish I had more people to vent to about these feelings besides my bariatric journal or my psychologist. I notice when I talk out my emotions it's better instead of feeling them because they derail me tremendously.

So@creekimp13 I totally get what you are saying. Question—what do you think about people who set their goal at numbers that are still obese? I just bristle when they say they know they will look sickly at a normal BMI when they’ve never been at a normal BMI as an adult.

Please do!!! I’m so excited!!! You will probably be done before me. I’d love to have it that early but I think there’s others scheduled that day. My surgeon said it takes about an hour and half 🤞🏼. Add me on instagram if you have one @alljosgiosmom

Well yesterday was my one-year anniversary since bypass surgery. Like everyone, we all have a unique journey. I have lost about 159 pounds and went from a size 22 to a size 8 or 10. Here is my journey, which includes ulcers, cancer, kidney stones, malnutrition-induced neuropathy, and stenosis. Fun, huh? I'm really happy with my results, but I have a LONG way to go to get healthy. My journey and situation is NOT typical, so for those of you considering surgery, please just know this is one story out of many, but you won't face this same situation. Surgery - May 8, 2017. Successful! 10 days later - blood in stool. Had a large ulcer (not uncommon) and spent 4 more nights in hospital. All good. Never felt I could eat much as the weeks and months progressed, but didn't throw up and no pain either. Just couldn't eat more than a small amount before feeling extremely full. Also could not tolerate chicken, scrambled eggs, and other denser foods. September 22, 2017 - Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. 2cm tumor. Started chemo in October and finished 6 rounds in February. I'm HER2+ so I am continuing with infusions every three weeks (which are not chemo) until October 2018. Chemo affected my appetite and taste. I had no nausea. I already was not eating much and had lost so much weight so fast. Having no desire to eat didn't help. I am SICK of sweet protein shakes, pudding, jello , soups, cottage cheese, etc. However, I worked fulltime and kept my sprits up and never felt sorry for myself. I am cancer free (none found in any lymph nodes or in the tissue removed), so I feel very happy that I found the lump when I did and can move on. I do have a genetic mutation that was found, so I opted for a double mastectomy, which was performed on March 13, 2018. After losing over 150 pounds, my former 44 DD breasts were very low and flat, so I needed a lift anyway. Now I have them where they should be! Ha. Surgery went well and I'm recovering still. Met with my gastric surgeon two weeks ago and they want me to continue getting B12 shots once a month to help with the neuropathy in my feet brought on by vitamin deficiency. I am also supposed to up my protein to try and reach 80 grams per day, which is very tough for me. Tomorrow I am getting my second endoscopic dilation so I can eat more. Dr said it's from inflammation and between 6-20% of patients have to get that done at least once. I had it done in February, but need one now again as I still can barely eat 1/4 of food (more of soup or softer food). SOOO looking forward to being able to eat a variety of foods soon. It gets frustrating to have such limited choices. I will start physical therapy because my muscles have atrophied a bit, but need to wait a bit until I recover from my double mastectomy. I didn't ever think I would need that after gastric bypass. My biggest fear was that I would not get to my goal weight of 170 (here I am at 150). Before and after photos attached. After shots are with a wig as I only have 1/4 inch of hair at the moment!

Of course it's about long term goals, but we are all too often derailed and side-lined by transient pleasure or "treats" that can lead us down the primrose lined path toward rationalization. And I ABSOLUTELY see your point. And validate it. It's right for you. I get ya. I support you. So I just question why it isn't ok and my right to have my point of view and do me, too? Cuz for me, right now...I'm going for the prize. Once I get there, I might decide it's a giant PIA and like the Wizard of Oz, is all smoke and mirrors and no substance. Then I will reserve the right to change my mind. But if I've never seen that goal? How do I know it's not worth attaining? I want to see it just once in order to make an informed decision. I think all of us, ought to give it a hard thought. Cuz don't we all deserve to make a truly informed opinion? And I think to do that, if we choose that road less traveled by, we can't mentally and emotionally let ourselves off the accountability hook by saying, "Ohhhh don't worry, you'll still get a participation trophy even if you are still MO." And I can guarantee there will never be another time QUITE like the first time surgery to get you as far as you can humanly go towards realizing that goal. It will never be "easier" and by easy I in no way infer that this is the "easy" path. But for me, after my RNY surgery, weight loss has never been easier than it is right now in my virgin honeymoon period. And it's still a fargin' corkhole, ice-suckin' bastage lol. All 2-3lbs per week on average. And sometimes 0.6lbs per week. LOL.

I can see male only on the app. It is in the male only forum. People post all kinds of stuff in the wrong forum. Her lecturing post was completely out of line. A young man asking about the function of his penis is perfectly fine. The broads with PCOS post all over the forum everywhere about their baby dreams and no one says a damn thing to them. Maybe he wants to be a dad and hopes surgery will improve his chances. Women always pop in the male forum giving unneeded advice but men rarely pop in the female forum. Just because women are the majority on the forum doesn't get them the right to be bullys. If he wanted to ask other guys if his knees are going to be sexy that is his business. No one asked for her Mom opinion. Just because you are old doesn't mean a 24 year old isn't an adult.
