    Passed Out

It could be due to a number of factors. If your blood sugar gets too low or if your blood pressure gets too low, fainting can result. 1. If you were diabetic prior to surgery and taking medicine for it, the amount that you take for this condition might need to be reduced or eliminated. The same may apply to those taking prescription medicine for high blood pressure. 2. Some individuals (irrespective of whether they had diabetes prior to surgery) get a condition called reactive hypoglycemia. Here is a couple links. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diabetes/expert-answers/reactive-hypoglycemia/faq-20057778 https://www.verywell.com/what-to-know-about-reactive-hypoglycemia-1087744 3. It can also be due to dehydration or an electrolyte imbalance. Possible triggers of orthostatic hypotension include: dehydration – if you're dehydrated, the amount of fluid in your blood will be reduced and your blood pressure will decrease; this makes it harder for your nervous system to stabilise your blood pressure and increases your risk of fainting. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/182524.php Generally, electrolyte disturbance symptoms depend on which electrolytes are affected and the severity of the imbalance. Most electrolyte problems involve abnormal levels of sodium, potassium, or calcium. Typical mild symptoms of an electrolyte disturbance include dizziness and muscles cramps or weakness. https://draxe.com/electrolyte-imbalance/ It is important to drive this one to ground. Consult your surgeon's office. If you have a blood pressure monitor and a blood sugar monitor at home, you might be able to localize the cause immediately after your next episode.

My bad time was the purée phase; could NOT do it! I chose more shakes instead. I’m not 6 1/2 week’s post op and can eat just about anything, but some things I used to like don’t taste good to me anymore. Starting eating salads this week and it tasted good. Down 41 lbs since surgery, a few waist sizes and feeling good.

Hi everyone.... I've been trying since I signed up to change my stats that show here in my profile... the highest weight, current weight, etc... and I just can't tell where to change that info. On 'edit my profile' I only can edit certain things, but not those. Can someone help? The stats are wrong, including my HW (which shows an incorrect weight)... just frustrated. Any help with this would be awesome. Thanks so much in advance.

I don't know you. But right after wls is the worst time to quit. The emotional rollercoaster the depression people encounter who didn't even have depression before. You have a long way to go and I would continue to take the pills if it were me. I stopped taking mine before. I swear I could have jumped off a bridge on a couple of occasions I was getting so angry and irritable. Sent from my Vivo 5R using BariatricPal mobile app

@Mhy12784 - if added muscle is your goal, then no. While it is true that you will need more protein & calories in order to build muscle, that protein will need to be digested first in order to make it available for synthesis. The majority of digestion takes place in the stomach. The intestines is where the digested food and nutrients is then transferred to the blood stream. If the food is washed out of the stomach before it is completely broken down, it will not be absorbed and will mostly pass through the intestines. This is more likely with bypass patients as it is textbook malabsorption. If you truly need more protein and calories in a fast absorbing form, look for a hydrolized protein. To the OP, it is exactly like you stated, a slippery slope. Eventually you can form the habit to drink while eating which will wash the food out of you stomach and you will get hungry sooner. I am almost 3 years out and the only modification I have made to the 30/30 rule originally given to me is that I will drink up until I start eating. After I start, I do not take another drink until 30 minutes after my last bite. I find that while I may at first be dying for a drink, after a few minutes, that desire fades. Only time that is it difficult is when I am eating something that is spicy (e.g. homemade habanero jelly).

    Anyone vape here?

Like a steam engine. I switched to 0mg juice for a couple months after surgery because nicotine can mess with healing but I went back up to 3mg after that and my doc didn't mind.

    Eating is not as enjoyable!

Im 4 weeks out as of today, and started softs about a week ago. I do find myself craving and looking forward to certain foods (notably beef and pistachio nuts) but Im also in the same boat as you where im not looking forward to or enjoying meals. I havent had any pain or complications from eating so far, but I also dont enjoy spending 25 minutes eating a meal, and taking ridiculously small bites with 1-2 minutes between bites. I dont have the patience for it, and such small bites of food makes it a bit less enjoyable. I can honestly say I prefer the protein shakes, its just easier and not stressful. I dont have to worry about pain getting stuck choking etc etc. I can just drink my shake and move on. I find myself eating real foods only when I need to address hunger pains. Otherwise im more than content with my shakes. I suspect in another month maybe 2 when I dont need to eat like an infant (and my options are expanded) I will find eating more enjoyable. Also I had a decent size hiatal hernia repair and dont have pain so i suspect its not that. It could be food intolerances or selection thats your problem. Especially if you are chewing and going slow appropriately.

    One week Post-op!

You will feel like like you are eating constantly for the first few weeks, it gets easier. My ability to drink more at a time increased quickly. But yeah, it’s a chore at first. I ate a lot of Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, refried beans or pea soup and usually 1 protein shake a day. I couldn’t do puréed meat so I depended a lot on dairy during that time. I bought a little insulated lunch bag w an ice pack so I could take food with me if I was going to be out of the house for more than an hr or 2. I also recommend Cooking eggs in the microwave as opposed to on the stove, they come out much softer and more moist than the stove top. Good luck!
