    4 days post op

GENERALLY SPEAKING (this is by no means a hard and fast rule though): it is usually in your head if: - you want something specific - the feeling of wanting to eat comes on quickly and intensely. - you still feel it even after eating something - it goes away or gets less intense when distracted. It is usually real hunger if: - you want anything (not something specific) - the feeling comes on slowly and grows more intense as time goes on - it lessens when you eat something

    Taste issues

It is not uncommon for your taste buds &/or sense of smell to change or become more sensitive after surgery. It’s temporary but it can make it a challenge to find foods that don’t turn your tummy. Many of us find our old favourites taste disgusting, or overly sweet or salty. A lot of us suggest you don’t buy your pre surgery shakes in bulk as you may hate the brand or flavour after surgery. It was many weeks into solid food before I could tolerate my favourite vegetables (asparagus, sugar snap peas & broccolini) again. Can also be a blessing. Finding things excessively sweet helped take away a lot of my desire for sweet food. Used to eat something sweet every day now only a couple of times a year.

I must have will power of steel lol. I just went through McDonalds drive thru and picked up cheeseburgers/fries/drink for my son and a 20 piece McNugget and strawberry/cream pie for my hubby. Although the mere smell of it made me think of devouring it before I got home. I did exceptional and gave them their food while I grabbed my Fairlife Carmel protein shake lol. Honestly, when I got home with it I was okay and not bothered by it. I think just in close proximity the smell made me feel like eating it but once further away it had no effect on me....yay! lol

    Pain after surgery

I change up between chicken and beef. I'm having to add protein powder to it because there's not much protein in broth. You can't put the powder in hot broth or water because it Curdles. I wish clear protein didn't have a weird salty taste. Even the no sodium clear liquid has a salty taste.

    Shopping in Bariatric Pal Store

I started mine with the pre op diet. Except surgery day of course and maybe a couple days after depending on how you are feeling.

I think 10 lbs is likely! I was told 12-15lbs on the LRD for my weight.

    Need to vent

Welcome to the forums. This is a rant I can get behind, quite familiar to be honest. Aside from the promotion, which seemed out of your control all the way through, you actually took steps to deal with your frustration and angst. I'd call your response to your lack of control a win. Good show. Bear in mind that the first few weeks or months post-op can just be a circus of out of control situations. If you approach them in the same problem solving way you should do great. Good luck, Tek

    Recent Injury Rant

honestly, weight loss is about 90% food and only 10% exercise. I know WLS patients who lost a ton of weight even without exercise. That said, exercise is great for your overall health and people should do it - but an injury that causes a temporary pause in your routine is not going to be the end of your weight loss. also, you could be in a stall - they're very common. Just stick to your program and your weight loss will eventually start up again. Stalls usually last 1-3 weeks. and no, I doubt "this is it" as long as you're adhering to your program. Most of us lose for a year - if not more (20 months for me - but I started out much heavier than you, so I had a lot more to lose)
