How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

My red line is supposed to be +5lbs sustained over a few days (to allow for daily fluctuations). I like to stay close to 115, so if I go over 120 for a few consecutive days, then its time to cut cals for a bit. Though I'm considering upping my baseline these days to 120 as it seems its much easier to maintain than 115. I don't notice any fit issues with my clothes, so if I can get over the metal block about it, I just might. We'll see.

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

you're definitely NOT losing slower than everyone else. When I was where you are (four months out), I'd lost 52 lbs. And I started out much heavier than you. people lose at all different rates for all different reasons (age, sex, metabolic rate, activity level, whether or not you lost weight prior to surgery, starting BMI, for starters...). Other than sticking to your program and your activity level, you don't have a lot of control over these factors. Ultimately, your success is determined by how committed you are to your program - NOT to your rate of weight loss. I think losing 100 lbs in six months isn't that common, to be honest, except for people who start out much heavier than you. It took me a year to lose that much, and again, I started out much heavier than you did. I was a slow loser the entire time, and I, too, was told by some insensitive medical resident that I was behind where I should have been at every juncture. But I ended up losing 100% of my excess weight - which means I probably blew most/all of the other people in my classes out of the water by the time I was done. so just keep up your commitment, follow the rules, and you should be fine. P.S. yes weight loss does slow down after the first six months or so, but i kept losing until month 20. So don't give up hope!

I know this sounds bad but I am most worried about not being able to drink beer after the surgery. I am a social drinker and enjoy having a beer at sporting events or other places. How many beers are you able to have after the sleeve.

    Thanksgiving

Our plans are to go to my in-laws house for a small get together. Smaller now than originally planned because one of my wife's sisters recently attended a funeral with a large attendance and hasn't been able to schedule a rapid covid test before Thanksgiving. So it will be my wife, myself, our 3 young kids, her parents and one other sister and her husband. Food-wise I think it is going to be mostly traditional with slightly lower emphasis on carbs (everyone is trying to lose weight). I haven't run into much that I can't eat so I'm planning on just taking a bite or two of everything and seeing where that gets me.

    Surgery postponed due to Covid

Thank you all for the responses and support. I know it will happen, I just wish I had some way of knowing when. After reading a lot of posts, I realize many people have had to wait months and months and jump through far more hoops than I have had to. I too am a self pay, and the process actually went very fast - roughly 6 weeks from consult to surgery - had it happened. I plan to work hard and maintain a super healthy lifestyle until they call me in. My hope is that it lessens the shock post surgery, and who knows, maybe I will drop a bunch of this excess weight and have a great head start! Sent from my SM-N976U using BariatricPal mobile app

    rate of weight loss

I lost 22 lbs. in my surgery month of May 2020. Months following produced 18, 10, then 5 lbs. I have averaged just over 2 lbs. per week since the beginning of the year. Two pounds per week is a healthy, steady rate for weight loss. There are so many other factors to consider such as weight loss before surgery, your excess body weight, and your nutrition plan.

    Hair Loss!

YES. I cut it to my jaw at 3 months, then to pixie-boy-short a month later. soooo much less hair on the bathroom floor, and it looked less sparse on my head!

Head hunger as in "appetite and could eat something"? Well... my first WLS was March 6th 2001 so since 19 years, 8 months and 15 days. 😂 Head hunger is normal, everyone has it (yes, even the "skinnies"). Accept it and get used to it.

    Favorite Grocery Products

I love these Wasa Crispbreads. Only 20 calories each and they're really yummy with a little melted cheese on top. Great way to have a snack and satisfy my crunchy salty cravings. Also makes for a nice lunch with some tuna or chicken salad on top. They also come in other flavors like rye, flax seed, sourdough etc. but this one is my favorite.
