Hey everyone I made it home  today. I’m in a lot of pain but just tying to not think about it. Hopefully I will start feeling better in a few days. I’ll keep posting my updates as the come.

    Chinese food

Like Matt said, chicken, beef, or shrimp with vegetables is good, or egg foo young sauteed instead of deep fried and with very little sauce. I eat dim sum quite a lot, too, the steamed options. I can manage about 4 and I'm done.

G'day, all. I'm almost 6 weeks out, and the weight loss is going very well. I'm down 29# and about 2 sizes. My 18yo daughter is so excited for me, and so is my husband! She points out changes in my body, from "I can fit my arms around you to hug all of you now!" to "Your knees look different!" I am so blessed to have them behind me in this journey. Just a few negatives right now -- I still have to have a BIG nap (2+ hours) almost every day. I hope that improves soon. Also, just today, I'm having some nausea. I decided to go back to pureed food for a day to see if that helps, and it does a little bit. I'd love to hear from anyone else who has had exhaustion and/or nausea at 6 weeks . . . although overall this is SO worth it! Best of luck to everyone. This is not an easy journey, but by the grace of God, we'll all get through it!

    Beginning of My Journey (again)

Welcome! I first looked into weight loss surgery about 15 years ago, but I didn’t get any farther than the initial consultation with the surgeon before my family talked me out of it. This time, I didn’t tell anyone because it was my decision and I didn’t need their input. Sometimes I wish I had done it back then because I feel like I’ve missed out on so much because of my weight, but I also think that I wasn’t ready at the time to make the changes necessary to succeed in long-term weight loss, and I have a much better shot now than I would have had 15 years ago. It looks like you are ready to do this now, too! i hope your endoscopy goes well. Make sure the anesthesiologist knows what happened last time so he or she can take measures to prevent it from happening again.

    4 Weeks and only 10lbs!

My weight at surgery was 204. 500-700 was my range for a few months, then only a max 850 my first year until I got to my goal weight. I lost slow regardless, but I lost it. *disclaimer, I might be remembering this wrong, but it’s not far off. I’m currently maintaining and I have to stick around 1350 calories or I’ll gain.

    Exercise for loose skin

I’ve got to be honest, there is no exercise for loose skin. If someone has lost a little bit of weight and has no muscle tone, they could gain a little muscle to push out the skin. But for significant weight loss, skin and exercise are completely separate issues. Unless someone is quite young or won the DNA lottery of skin, there will be loose skin. I’m not trying to be Debbie downer, but those are scientific facts and I hate for people to spend a lot of time and money on things that won’t work (and there are people who will lie for their own reasons, including the beauty industry trying to make money). I wish that weren’t so (but I spent $20,000 on surgery because it is). But there is still looseness on my lower legs and arms that surgery can’t fix. It is just part of the journey. I don’t normally do this, but I’m going to attach a before and after picture of my arm surgery (after my 100 lb loss 7 years ago). There is nothing that would’ve fixed that skin but surgery. 🙇🏼‍♀️

    Feeling so weary

During my two week pre-op diet I literally had no energy. I worked and that was about all I did during those two weeks. I was afraid I would feel like that post-op too, but my energy levels really did shoot up after week one of post-op. It was actually shocking how much energy I suddenly had. Loving it!
